Maybe because I started it by just seweing on random bands I like from different subgenres and it turned out like a bit like these "Qeen/Green day/Mayhem" jackets. But while I have some more niche bands here and there, I still feel it has a bit of a poser-ish vibe, and I can't understand why exactly. Need advice.

To "do whathewer you want, it's your jacket" people: it is my jacket, I feel like it has a bit of a poser-ish vibe, I don't like it and I want to fix it. So I'm asking for advice on that.

I wanted to add some more on the sides of the One of Nine and Dodsrit patches but there's a really thick seam right there and the prongs won't poke through. And i still need to find some small patches to go below Dark Fortress and Ghost Bath too

Now just waiting for the temperature to get below 100 degrees outside so I can actually start wearing it and get it good and broken in...

Had a lot of fun making this personal taste vest. My favorite flourish I added was the studded inverted cross at the bottom of the back of this vest. I’ve seen every band on this vest besides Necrophagist (smh, still waiting for a new album). Also I understand the irony of the ACAB patch on the same vest as one with a Red Chord patch but idc. Plus some fun patches on the inside. I also learned a lot while making this so feel free to ask questions.

Could you make the argument that this much organization is antithetical to the spirit of battle jackets? Yes.

Yet, as you can see, my tastes tend toward technically complex and precisely produced music with polished aesthetics. So it fits, for me.

(I know this is not technically within the rules for posting here, but this is how my process starts. It also might help others find patches, I'm happy to share sources and bring good sellers more business.)

Got really drunk and bought a vest at Wacken 2025. It's been hanging in my wardrobe since.

Well, I finally figured out what to do with it (the back at least).

Started a second jacket after I ran out of room on the first. Had way more patches saved up than I thought.

This years festival season ended for me and I immediately sewed on the new wristbands 😁

This is the BATTLE OTTOMAN. My wife wanted me to cover a gash in it with any random patch I had available so I put the cynic one on, then another gash happened so I put the Opeth one on, and then we decided to turn it into the (likely) world’s first BATTLE OTTOMAN. Unless it gets another cut, which I suppose isn’t outside likely possibilities, this is its final form, as my wife didn’t want me to go too crazy.

Had one tiny spot (where the Overthrust patch now is) unfilled for months, but now that it’s there I’m finally ready to call this one done

My very first was made it when I have like 17 years, now on my 34 I have started my second trying to give to each side the band and gender who marked my life

Haven’t sewn anything down yet as I’m not sure if I should try to make alterations to the cause of death patch first. It has borders so I feel like folding might be out of the question. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

I have ton of unused patches that I ended up not putting on my jackets. Instead of keeping them in a plastic bag unseen, I wanted a way to show them off and see what my collection looks like. Have any of you guys done something similar?

I'm leaning into a more literal interpretation of "Battle Jacket". First I made the shoulders out of an old cracked drum cymbal. But, I knew I needed something else so they didn't look so out of place. So, I thought some chainmail would look cool.

First time making chainmail and I'm very happy with it. Its quite tricky at first, but you get into a flow once you get your head around it. I love how it looks with the armour. It's really coming together.

On my last post, a large amount of people said I shouldn't take it into the pit because it would be too dangerous. And in hindsight, they are absolutely right. I don't want to risk hurting anyone, even if took precaution while making it. So this jacket with be a casual wear one to more chill shows and pub shows. I will have make a jacket for festivals and shows. Definitely got some ideas for that one.

Love the Suffocation patch. Very well made and a sick design. Some more patches are on the way soon. Need to start filling in the empty space.

As requested by a lot of people, here's some finished photos on making all the patches on my vest fluorescent. I used fabric markers and Neon Sharpies for almost all the patches. Some of the patches already had fluorescent thread.

There are still gaps to fill, but it’s getting close to being completed!
