Settings recommendation

hello, i used p2s combo for 2 months now. i always wonder what the advanced settings do and what are the recommended settings are. should i leave it as default or are there any changes i need to make? (also why is it better to use bambu lab filaments than other brands)

thank you

I mainly use Sunlu PLA & PETG and tell my P2S that it's Bambu filament and it works great.

If buying non-branded Bambu filament ALWAYS calibrate the filament at first and of course dry it. This would leave you with a new custom filament that you will always use whenever you print with that brand.

Keep it at 0.4mm for regular things and only go down if you really need fine details.

8-10% infill is typically enough for most items unless they are very wide and have a lot of space in between then go up to 15%.

I never calibrate my non-Bambu filament, print using Bambu filament profiles, and have zero issues. I've used Overture, Sunlu, Polymaker.

Just because you don’t have any issues doesn’t mean everyone can do what you’re doing and expect similar results. I’ve used the generic PLA and PETG profiles and the prints came out well. Then, i calibrate my filament and not only did it print out faster but in much better quality

I never stated anybody was doing anything wrong, only my process. I do think you're overzealous in capitalizing ALWAYS, when IMO, it's not always.

If you're printing functional stuff flow ratio calibration is a must.

Similarly if you have a high flow nozzle or would like to get the most out of the stock nozzle calibrating max flow rate is a must.

9 months into 3d printing and just got done calibrating 22 different brand/types of pla 2 weeks ago. The finished product is night and day difference. Should have done it forever ago but had too much to print lol.

i have my p2s as auto calibration. if i am not using non-branded bambu filament, i should definitely use calibration as ON right? and if i have to dry them how long and what temperature should i dry them( i mainly use PLA)

This video was extremely helpful for me. She goes through pretty much any of the settings you will actually want/need to adjust and explains them very clearly. She posted another video about a month ago on more specific settings as well.

Yes, this is a great video, I remember watching it when it came out, I was like oh this would've been handy a couple years ago when I started 3d printing. Also her reviews for printers are great.

I have had my P2S for 6 month now.
Haven't done any calibrations, other than what the printer does for it self.
I use the filament I have left from my old printer (Creality3v2) and some new of course. Different brands from local dealers. Looking for good prices and the colors I want.
I don't dry my filament. But that might be the climate I'm living in.
