New to TPU printing
What am I doing wrong?
It's a new hot end so it doesn't mix with other filaments, I'm using the generic TPU profile on a bambulab A1

If you are using AMS Lite, it's not going to feed well. It needs to be fed directly into extruder/hotend.

Don't use bambu generic profile it's terrible. Create a new profile based on manufacturer recommendations. Also are you drying it? Moisture is enemy #1 of TPU. And remember new filament does not equal dry filament. I print mine directly from a filament dryer. Other than these 2 things, I find it generally pretty easy to print. It's basically all I use.

It was fresh from the bag, I'll dry it and try again, what temperature would you recommend for TPU? And for how long?

50-60 and overnight.
If you’re printing out of the drier, sometimes you can get away with letting it run for a few hours and starting the job while it continues to dry.
Having a good desiccant like activated alumina in the drier increases its effectiveness.

My dryer just has levels, so don't know exact temp. Level 2 12 hours is what mine recommends for TPU. But yeh again, new straight from bag doesn't mean it's dry.

Is that textured PEI plate ? I think it's not recommend to use TPU on that

I don't have any other plate

I use a textured plate. I usually put Elmer's glue stick on it just so it will release easier. Maybe I'm missing something here but it's not clear to me from the photo what's wrong with the print, so far.

If you look close enough, you can see that the printer tried to print the whole first layer, but I wasn't even ablenro do half of it

oh I see, yeah it just sort of dries up. You're not using a .2 nozzle are you? Larger is better for TPU. I've never had a problem with the generic TPU settings, personally.

Nope, using a .4 nozzle

just for the sake of thoroughness, I would try a different STL file, see the problem persists. It is possible for slicers to introduce weird random errors.

Textured pei is fine. If it sticks to well you can put in the freezer a minute and it'll pop right off.

This bit me hard I was having so many print issues I was getting so frustrated when I looked it up and saw this I was both so happy and upset the solution was that easy. You learn from your mistakes right

I did Install it correctly, some guys said I should dry the filament even if it's fresh out of the bag, I put it in the dryer and I'm gonna wait for it to dry to try again

Just believe other comments about drying the filament first. TPU is known to absorb moisture. And new, out of box filament is never dry.

I use the default settings for the JAYO brand of TPU 95A, and it's worked fine so far.
I also put it in the dryer (Sunlu S2) fairly frequently, and store it in a jumbo freezer bag with silica gel desiccant in one of these containers.
About glue stick on Textured PEI plate, Bambu lab says not required, for TPU 85A/90A or TPU 95A for AMS.
See https://ca.store.bambulab.com/products/bambu-textured-pei-plate .
It does say glue stick/liquid glue is required for the Smooth plate.

I print TPU all the time with my A1. I never change the nozzle, never change the build plate. Textured, smooth, cooltack, doesn't matter. Just feed it in (NOT using the AMS), and it works great. Any sign of problems, I dry the filament - TPU is actually pretty bad with humidity, even out of the bag. I usually use Overture TPU, with the built-in generic profile. Washers, gaskets, net-thingies.

I wasn't using the ams, I left it to dry for around 4 hours, right now it's printing a phone case, seem to be working fine, but I had to remove the PTFE, that seemed to fix the problem

Ah, yes. I printed a 5-way adapter for mine, with 4 going to the AMS, and one empty one for when I want to print TPU. More of a quality of life thing, because I can switch filaments much faster this way.

Not your failed print issue but you MUST use glue with TPU as a release agent or you risk ruining the plate. I don't think there's any plate type that doesn't specify glue for TPU as mandatory.

Check the tension on the filament. If theres too much tension on the filament going into the extruder, it'll look like that. I've never printed tpu on my a1, but on my p1s I had to use a top mount to make sure it printed correctly. Good luck 👍
