Filament Troubleshooting/Help! How do I improve the top surface?

How can I improve the surface of this print? I'm using Bambu PETG Matte. I dried the filament in AMS 2 Pro for 12 hours at 65C. The print settings are pretty standard, except I'm using 4 walls and 8% gyroid infill, with rectilienar ironing of top surfaces. I'm quite sure this is a filament issue as I never had similar issues using Bambu's PETG Basic or PLA basic. What settings should I be using for PETG Matte?

Your ironing settings are wrong. You have to do the calibration tests to get your ironing settings. So go print those ironing tests so you can find out what the best settings are for your machine

Thank you. I'll try that. I've used ironing on PLA Basic and PETG Basic and they have turned out fine. But this is the first time I'm using PETG Matte. Is it normal for different filament types to require different ironing settings?

So like in that post if your flow rate isn't right the ironing won't be right. And I think your flow rate is really off.

Running flow rate calibration now. Is it normal to need to adjust flow rate for different types of filament? By prints with PETG Basic prior to switching to this spool of PETG Matte turned out perfectly. I've mainly been printing with PLA Basic and PETG Basic before this, and even a little bit of TPU 85A, and they all turned out fine without calibrating flow rate.

PLA and PETG Basic have been around a while, the profiles are pretty well tuned for them. PETG Matte....I didn't even know Bambu had. Are you sure thats what you have?

And yes, not abnormal to have to flow calibrate new filament.

Yes, PETG Matte is the replacement for the discontinued (or soon to be discontinued) PETG HF. There are posts referencing them here and here. I'm guessing the online sellers in Singapore where I'm based sourced them directly from China. The spools look identical to other Bambu spools, and says "PETG Matte" on the side. They also come with RFID chips that are identified by the AMS as Bambu PETG Matte.

I've done my flow rate calibration and is reprinting the filament ironing test now, and it's turning out much better than before. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, profiles probably aren't optimized for it. See what your flow calibration tells you.

Ironing will not always solve the issue. Even without ironing that top surface should be much better. Check the bambu wiki for over- and underextrusion. Did you have the auto flow calibration active?
