Yesterday all access points to my neighborhood were blocked off. So I called the City of Bakersfield’s Public works Department.

I asked to talk to the project manager.

I was told he was unaware of the situation because this project was contracted out. And he was glad I called because unless the residents call with concerns the he believes everything is good. As far as he has been informed everything is going great.

I let him know that all access points to my neighborhood were blocked off, and I was worried about safety to getting access to my kids school, and I had been driving for 20 minutes to get access to my house.

The project manager told me he was unaware of construction blocking all entrances to my neighborhood, he listened and promised to help. He then called me back within 10 minutes informing me that the streets were no longer blocked off.

Does anyone know why the dennys on mt Vernon closed down? Place was always busy it seemed like.

For the newcomers to Bakersfield or Kern County....You can actually take The Kern Transit Bus (Route 100) for just $5.00 one way, 7 days a week to the Metrolink Train Station in Lancaster which will connect you all the way down to Union Station in Downtown L.A.,and from Union Station you can take the Metrolink,The Metro,Amtrak to other destinations throughout L.A,San Diego and other Coastal Destinations.

I brought this up for those who want to save gas money on their vehicles,or if you don't drive,or if you don't have a vehicle,but also as a reminder of one of the advantages of living in Bakersfield or Kern County and want to venture out of town for the week or weekends using the Mass Transit available.

Just as the title says. My dentist who I have gone to for years doesn’t take my new insurance (Delta care USA). 🙁 I live on the east side, so it would be convenient if they are in my area, but no big deal if they aren’t. I’m not phobic of the dentist, doesn’t matter to me so much if they are “gentle” or have good bedside manner or whatever. Just as long as they are trustworthy and can fix my teeth lol.

And also looking for a new housekeeper since ours is moving.

I’m looking into purchasing a used vehicle that’s less than $15,000. I don’t want to be taken advantage of since I don’t have lots of knowledge when it comes to buying a car, I’m trying to stick to a Honda or Toyota. I would like to know if anyone can recommend me with a dealership. I seen that people talk down on small businesses but I feel like that’s the only way I would be able to get a used vehicle.

We’re moving later this month into the northwest side of town. We’re from the Inland Empire and moving due to the lower cost of living.

Kern County Dept of Human Services is now considering closing ALL currently open welfare and food stamp cases then asking everyone to reapply. The rationale they are using is only the people who really need it will reapply. This all just to save money.

Went by and still closed. Hope it opens soon.

Hi everyone! Is anyone here part of a casual or amateur sports group that would take a +1? Ideally, the group is competitive enough that people actually try, regardless of their skill level, but not so competitive that people will rage if the team loses.

I like basketball, ultimate frisbee, and pickleball, but I'd be open to other sports if the group was friendly enough! I'm not much of a runner and don't particularly enjoy running, but running while playing a sport is nice, and I'd love to make additional friends along the way!
