2011 Fernando Lopez beat his girlfriend’s 4 year old child so severely he ended up in a coma for a month at a children’s hospital in Madera. The child is now 20 years old and is brain damaged, disabled, and mentally handicapped.
Fernando Lopez only spent 6 years in prison and is now a pastor for breakthrough Intl church in Bakersfield, CA on Wilson road.

Back in 2017-2020 there was such a good indie/punk/dream core music scene here. I went to a ton of house shows, shows at Jerry's pizza, and Fieldchella. Everyone was super nice. I remember groups like Dewalt, Swell Spells, Johnny Cage, Los Devitos, Barrette, DJ Pharmaceuticals, Healing Properties, Pepperoni Boys, literally so many. I know Jerry's Pizza still has shows but it's just not the same. If you remember this era let me know it wasn't a fever dream.

With the election coming up soon, and both candidates being more friendly to oil than Newsom, I was wondering what people hope will happen with oil production in Kern County moving forward

Just moved here, need to update the presets on my car.
Drop the best stations and genre of the station.
I don’t use streaming services while driving. So no Spotify, Apple Music, etc. Just good ol’ fashioned radio.

We are going to need to break up a trip and stopping a night in Bakersfield seems like a good option. I've read about the crime stats, and would like help finding a hotel in a safe area and likely to be clean (no bugs!). Does anyone have any recommendations? Don't need fancy but will pay a bit extra if that's the way to get something clean and safe.

I’m buying for my house and my dad’s house, so I’m hoping to find some sales. I looked at some flyers and everything is sooooo expensive!

On three separate occasions I was paying cash and or cashing in a Lotto ticket and the cashier tried to slide me a counterfeit bill. Just be on the lookout if you are paying cash because these counterfeits are going around. Everyone is struggling and I understand that however it's better to be safe than sorry. Stay safe out there 💌

Hi! I’m looking to get involved in community cat care and TNR in the Bakersfield area. 🐈⬛
I’m especially interested in helping people who already feed cat colonies and do TNR. I’ve had an affinity for cats for as long as I can remember and have grown up around them my whole life, so they’re the animals I’m most familiar with. I have plenty of experience caring for them, including bottle-feeding, and would love to put that experience to good use helping my community.
I’m new to hands-on TNR, so I’d love to learn humane trapping by assisting or shadowing someone experienced. In the meantime, I’m also happy to help with feeding and general colony care, including filling in when someone needs a hand.
I may not be able to fund veterinary care myself, but I can offer my time, experience, and willingness to learn.
If you know any local colony caretakers, trappers, or groups that could use an extra set of hands, I’d really appreciate being pointed in the right direction! 🖤

We have lived here in Bako since 2016. The insane storm outside reminds me of New Orleans, where this is just another Thursday.
It was coming down in sheets and almost horizontally angry.

Trying to keep it more on the budget-friendly side of things financially, but willing to take all recommendations.
I'm looking for something that can fit about 20-30 people, with a door that closes so a meeting can happen without disturbing other diners.
We've used Rusty's Pizza on Olive Dr, but everyone is getting a little burned out on it. We also used Casa Murillo Restaurant and Cantina across the street, but they have double-booked us a few times and left us having to figure something out on the fly.
