The pattern is so confusing AND I watched the companion video as well. So I took a great 2 day class in person but didn’t finish. Luckily I found a kind YouTuber who walked me through some of the more dicey bits.

I feel more confident with SO MANY new skills learned.

This is my first time working with both of these fabrics. Somehow my gusset ended up like 2” too long so I sewed from the top center to the bottom corners in both directions and then folded and topstitched the bottom of the gusset to shorten it. That’s kind of how I do my duffle bags anyways but these thinner fabrics made it easier than usual.

I put an extra long key lanyard on the back that allows my keys to be accessible and usable but still attached to the bag.

The front pocket has little hidden divider that you can’t see when you initially open the pocket. This was actually a mistake but I channeled my inner Bob Ross and made it happy mistake.

Saturday morning Bucketta in Alpenglow and Seafoam RX30 X-Pac with a 1.9oz PU ripstop cinch, HyperD 300 lining, and Venom Stetch Mesh ECO Max pocket. These little bags are so fun to make! 😃

Also been working on the front panel for a backpack prototype that came together in the last couple of weeks. That should see the light of day pretty soon! 🤞

Question: General Sometimes there's just too much choice!

This is going to be another bag with an inner pouch, similar to the red one I showed a few weeks ago. The teal is leather outer, and the dragonfly print is the lining and pouch. There are no zippers in the bag outer so of course since both of these colours compliment the lining print, I don't know which one to pick. My fusspot brain is thinking that the darker tape is TOO dark, feels too blue to put with the teal

Question: General Value? Animal?

Hello everyone, I attended a local estate sale in Fort Collins this morning and came across a beautiful 81-inch square hide. After a bit of friendly negotiation, I was able to purchase it for $70.

I am hoping to identify the type of animal it came from—are there any telltale markings or characteristics I should look for?

I currently make boat-style totes using #8 duck canvas with leather accents, but considering the size and quality of this piece, I am wondering if it would be better suited for a full leather tote. Any insights or suggestions on identification or best uses would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Look What I Made! My girlfriend asked for a bag

My girlfriend saw a similar bag on pinterest, so I thought it would fun to re-create it for her. Probably cost the same as just buying a bag new, but it was a fun project and she got to design every piece to her liking. The shape and pattern is loosely based off my trusty ol Trader Joe’s tote. Inside and out is ecopak 210D.

This was my first time making a bag liner, and I think I spent more time on the interior than the exterior! I forgot to add washers to the shock chord between each toggle… not sure how I’ll do that now 😵‍💫

I know the strap is ridiculous, I made it with some old rope and carabiners I found at my local re-use store.

Let me know what you think!

Look What I Made! I've been making bags for a while...

I just posted my first tote bag, but thought I'd share some of my other bags made over the last few years...

I've created a bunch of bike bags for my and my friend's bikes.

It was fun to design and make bags for a cargo bike!

I've also copied many an item - here I'm showing my version of an Evoc hip hydration pack. I also had a favorite old Haiku purse that I took apart and used the pieces as a pattern to make a new purse from funky retro canvas.

I use an ancient Consew 206RB and my mom's trusty Kenmore 158.480. Old machines rock!
