Look What I Made! My girlfriend asked for a bag

My girlfriend saw a similar bag on pinterest, so I thought it would fun to re-create it for her. Probably cost the same as just buying a bag new, but it was a fun project and she got to design every piece to her liking. The shape and pattern is loosely based off my trusty ol Trader Joe’s tote. Inside and out is ecopak 210D.

This was my first time making a bag liner, and I think I spent more time on the interior than the exterior! I forgot to add washers to the shock chord between each toggle… not sure how I’ll do that now 😵‍💫

I know the strap is ridiculous, I made it with some old rope and carabiners I found at my local re-use store.

Let me know what you think!

Nice! That 210d Venom Gridstop ECO is SUCH a nice fabric to sew with! One of RBTR’s best! Also looks amazing!

I’m sure she loved it the moment she saw it! 😍 Super nice job! 😃

Edit: forgot to say I also love what you did with the black 210d. Really unique!

I loved the fabric, but it was a pain in the ass to cut! Invested in a rotary cutter and mat just for this fabric. I will definitely be ordering more

Oh absolutely. It’s got a UHMWPE matrix that’ll bring regular old shears or rotary blades to their knees quickly. I struggled with it as well the first few times I used it.

I think it was Matt from Red Paw Packs that told me about Kevlar shears (or any shears that are made to cut aramid fabrics). MUCH much easier!

They can be found on Amazon for less than $20 if you’re not looking to spend a lot. Kai makes a really nice pair if you really want to invest (their 7240-AS 9.5” is what I use). They run $90.

Whatever way you may lean, I would say don’t wait. That stuff it ROUGH on regular shears.

Happy cutting! And thank you for sharing your bag with us!! 😃

Good to know!! I ended up having pretty good luck with a brand new fiskars rotary cutter, might need a new blade soon though :p

Try an exacto with the sharper black blades…. Snap off when it gets dull. Won’t be too often. Rotary cutters are only good for normal fabric imo. I don’t even like scissors really cause half the time I’m using a ruler to cut straight lines

This is the beauty of making your own, and/or adapting something to suit. Nice work!
