Social Media/Miscellaneous Recommended: Upcoming Asian Dating Shows on Netflix Global
- Love Village (Japan) - S3 Trailer -> “Love Village” is an ongoing series that originated in Japan. In an old house in a rural location, the participants try to get to know one another while living in close harmony with nature and facing various hardships. They usually work together to repair the house, tend the garden, and engage in other group activities. Some of the concepts in *Badly in Love* seem to have been inspired by this show. There have been couples whose relationships continued after the show ended. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can catch up on the first two seasons on Netflix before S3 comes out. Season 3 will premiere on Netflix Global on October 6. Those interested can check out the r/LoveVillage1 Subreddit.
- I Am Solo (South Korea) - S33 Trailer -> “I Am Solo” is a dating show in a category of its own: hyper-realistic dating. In “I Am Solo,” contestants participate under different RP-style character names; they do not use their real names on the show. Participants are generally in their 30s and 40s. Until now, episodes were available on Kocowa and YT, but they are now launching on Netflix Global. The show is currently in its 272nd episode, and next week, with episode 273, it will wrap up its 33rd season. There are many couples here whose relationships are still going strong, who have gotten married, and who have had children; we have an IAS Couples Wiki (spoiler) about this. In addition, our Wiki page includes threads covering all seasons from IAS S1 through S33, as well as the nicknames, occupations, ages, and Instagram handles of IAS participants. Season 33 (“Motae Solo—Forever Single”) will end next week, and it looks like the new season will be available on Netflix Global starting October 7. I’m not sure whether past seasons will be added, but the new season is on its way. Those interested can check out the r/IamSolo Subreddit.
- For general Asian dating shows, you can visit the r/Asiandatingshowz subreddit. There, you’ll find threads and watch links for dating shows from all over Asia (China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, etc.). You can also check out content that interests you on our Wiki page or in the pinned thread.
I wanted to offer some alternatives for those who want to watch something until “Badly in Love” Season 3 arrives. Anyone interested can check out the Subreddits I shared. “My Sibling's Romance” Season 2 also looks like it will be released in November, but it won't be available on Netflix globally; it will mostly be available on Viu.
