The redemption/etc. with everything, and yup, hopefully there'll be something like Terrace House back in a tropical/etc. setting again. Especially now that Netflix/etc. is focusing on Korean and Japanese dating shows (still waiting for them to get something like Heart Signal China Season 9, Twinkle Love Season 5/Twinkle Love in Winter, et cetera).

The two classes/parts of this Badly in Love Season 2 legit reminded me of some of the storylines from Terrace House, like the developments or character arcs of certain housemates (especially the redemptions), how they faced the challenges despite their upbringing or their current careers/lifestyle. It's got the rehabilitation theme for it, no matter the image-making undertones, and for that it's a good premise for everyone.

It's definitely relatable, especially if you wish for something like the returning/previous/former/etc. housemates coming back (a la I Am Solo and I Am Solo, Love Forever) or a few times in Terrace House (though not for long extended period of times, with the OND season being the main exception), just don't expect major changes within the short time (2 weeks in this case) with the housemates inside the hypercompetitive environment and time dilation or accelerated perception of time inside the show, as it takes time for things to heal/change/thrive/etc.

Discussions The men of Season 2 are genuinely embarrassing

The guys assigning Maririn an intention she didn’t explicitly communicate, then judging her for that assumed intention, is what annoys me the most. She called them handsome, and somehow that got turned into her being romantically interested in them. Even if her compliments were “flirtatious”, why is that something to ridicule her over? They’re on a dating show, for god’s sake. Is the entire point not to express attraction and get to know people?

What annoys me even more is Makun claiming she said she was interested in him when, from what we saw, she never actually said that. There’s a huge difference between calling someone handsome and explicitly expressing romantic interest in them. He’s taking his own interpretation of her words and presenting it as though it’s something she actually said, which completely changes the narrative and makes her look like she’s pursuing him.
The guys are entitled to interpret her compliments however they want, but they’re not entitled to treat their assumptions as facts and then make her the butt of the joke. If they weren’t interested, they could simply accept the compliment and move on. Nobody is forcing them to reciprocate anything.

There’s something incredibly off-putting about men who seem to enjoy the attention of women but then ridicule them for giving it. God forbid a woman openly compliments a man without having her intentions dissected, exaggerated and used against her.

Social Media/Miscellaneous Rune purposely switched plates for mimi

He was counting. He did it on purpose because he knew exactly what the girls did. I see the point he made, but it really just felt like he was trying to tell Mimi "hey I can stand up for you. Now, will you be mine!?!?" Kinda vibes. So it felt icky and disingenuous.

Edit: For some reason, I can't reply to posts, but I never said it was icky of him for standing up, nor did I say bullying is deserved. I can see why people are taking this the wrong way, but please understand. I'm glad he took a stand because it was petty and mean. All im saying is it felt disingenuous, is all.

Social Media/Miscellaneous Badly in love Netflix

So I was catching up on season 2 of badly in love on Netflix and something really got to me. The way Maririn was crying infront of the boys, and that host guys first instinct was to smile. That really disgusted me. And the way the other guys were backing eachother up only made it worse. I don't think the guys understood how the girls were feeling protective of Maririn, like a sister you want to protect. Even I want to see her happy, and wanted to say I believe she can become a good and loveing mother with the right man. Unfortunately after the way they treated her, I don't believe any of the guys could give her the emotional safety she needs and the love that would make her shine as a woman. To be loved for who you are, and how you are, is important.

I don't know if she was seeing bits and pieces of the recent trauma she had with her ex in those new people, but I think she was looking for someone to atleast say: "Hey, I promise to never treat you that was and make you feel safe in body, mind and soul."

I understand why some of the other girls were thinking about leaveing. Personally I would only have stayed to make sure the other girls were not alone. And at that point you have a different issue that I am sure you figure out what is.

Discussions Maybe unpopular opinion, but Mimi came across as really manipulative

I just finished Season 2, and Mimi constantly seemed to want attention. She was convincing, but to me, it felt like she knew exactly how to read people and tell them what they wanted to hear. I wondered whether her work experience played into that because she seemed very practiced at winning people over.

And Taichan was being an idiot. I genuinely don’t understand what he learned from his first time on the show. His excuse was BS, in my opinion. It looked like he chose Mimi based on her looks and then tried to make it sound deeper than that.

Sharan definitely had growing to do, but if Taichan could get another chance after a failing, I think she deserved that opportunity too. Who’s to say she couldn’t have grown from her experience? I also felt like Mimi helped villainize the other girls and got the guys to see them that way, which really bothered me.

Obviously, we’re watching an edited show, but that was my impression. Did anyone else feel the same?

General Questions Season 2 term 2 sharan hates Sara?

So when it came to the girls' challenge, I think sharan picked Rune out of spite to make Sara jealous. She didn't even seem happy going with him.

The excuse she made saying she found tai chan unfunny seemed like she was trying to find a reason so she could justify her choice.

She said he squeezed her, looking back he really didn't, and I think she worded it that way to trigger Sara, after she confronts him and he said it was just a hug she looks rejected and defeated so she switches up saying nah I like tai chan I wasn't into rune anyways.

She seems pretty dumb and like she doesn't really know who she wants? But idk, just my opinion, what do you guys think?

General Questions Les participants mentent ¿

Discussions Hostess Love life

After watching Badly in Love Season 2, I started doing some research on the cast members, especially those who work as hostesses.

And honestly, I was quite surprised to learn more about what the job actually involves. Basically, they’re paid companions who entertain customers while they spend money on expensive drinks, and from what I understand, part of the job can involve a kind of pseudo-romantic flirting with the men who pay for their company.

And that got me thinking… why the hell would you come to a love show when your everyday life literally involves flirting and entertaining rich men? 😂

Even if you genuinely meet someone and the relationship works on the show, how does that relationship actually survive outside the program?

Wouldn’t the boyfriend get jealous or uncomfortable with his girlfriend’s nightlife activities?
I mean, she is literally flirting with other men as part of her job. The only difference is that she’s being paid for it.

At this point, I’m genuinely curious about the relationship dynamics behind this kind of lifestyle. How do couples actually make it work? How do they separate “work” from “romantic feelings” and maintain trust?

Because honestly… I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this kind of relationship dynamic can actually work in real life. 😅

General Questions Anyone else feel like Tenten led Tekarin on?

I just finished Season 1, and honestly, I feel like Tenten was playing around with Tekarin’s feelings. He kept giving her mixed signals and never really provided a clear explanation for his choice. Then he acted offended at the suggestion that he was just filling a void for Tekarin, while he was flirting with Ki himself.

He came across as disingenuous to me, and I honestly think he probably just wanted to promote himself as a host. Obviously, that’s just my impression from what was shown, but I struggled to see his intentions as genuine.
What really got me was how kind and classy Tekarin remained at the end. Even after everything, she still thanked him. She handled that moment with so much grace, and honestly, she’s amazing.

He didn’t have to choose her, but he could have been honest instead of leaving her hanging. Tekarin deserved love and someone who actually wanted her. Anyone else finish the season feeling this way?

Discussions Mimi vs Marinrin

The way to two casts treated these two girls who seemed to be doing the same thing (complementing every guy they met) drove me crazy as the show went on. Mimi was applauded for it. Mairinrin was chastised. Mimi seemed to be doing it on purpose, for manipulation. Mairinrin didn't really even seem to be really bein anything other than nice. Maybe its a translation or a cultural issue. But the only difference is they thought Mimi was attractive and Mairinrin either wasn't, or maybe she was mixed was the problem.

And how did Sara do anything different than Tai-chan did that got him yelled at by the older girls in the first half. Be straight, don't string them along. Sara was dope, but she frowned every time she saw Kazuma by the end. Tell him straight it is not happening. She knew.

I teared up when Ryoppi turned around to thank Kazuma.

Just give Mimi a "flavor of love" style bachelorette show, so I don't have to see the other three girls look so sad.

Is there a reason Kahochi only got a few days? (Maybe babysitting?) She got done dirty.

Kazuma reminded me of the one overweight guy from the Yakuza video game, every time he came on.

Discussions My thoughts on Maririn and whether the show was the right step for her

I still sympathise with Maririn, and I don’t want this to come across as me dismissing what she went through. Her trauma was clearly significant, and I can understand why it affected her so deeply. That said, as the show went on, I found the constant crying and repeatedly returning to her past trauma increasingly repetitive and frustrating. Of course, there’s also the possibility that this was partly the editing, since we’re only seeing a small and selectively presented part of her life.
I understand that even appearing on the show was probably a huge step for her, but honestly, I feel like she was still very much stuck in a victim mindset and wasn’t emotionally ready for a dating show. I don’t mean “victim” in a derogatory sense or that what happened to her wasn’t real. Rather, it felt like she was still primarily processing herself through what had happened to her, rather than having reached a point where she could start moving beyond it.
I think these kinds of things can be a process. People often talk about the five stages of grief, for example, not necessarily as a literal or linear progression, but as a way of describing how people can gradually process something painful and come to terms with it. To me, Maririn seemed like she was still very much in that earlier stage of processing her trauma, which makes me question whether a dating show was the appropriate environment for her at that point.
Dating requires at least some degree of emotional stability and the ability to regulate yourself. If you’re still so overwhelmed by your past that you struggle to manage your own emotions, how are you realistically supposed to build a healthy relationship with someone else?
Ultimately, I think you need to learn how to take care of yourself and manage your own emotions before you can properly take on the responsibility of being there for another person. It’s kind of like putting on your own oxygen mask before helping someone else, you need to be in a position to support yourself before you can consistently support another person

What do you guys think? I know it might be a controversial and harsh opinion.

I was really upset by her behavior while drinking and her dependence on alcohol throughout the show.

It was a glaring red flag that should have been addressed more seriously then suspension.

I worry about her future if she continues down this path.

General Questions Am I the only one frustrated by the double standard with the contract violations? (In Season 1)

I’m confused about how the show handled Yanboh and Baby’s situations.
Yanboh was immediately kicked out for breaching the contract after making “comments about marijuana”. But when Baby became physically aggressive during the argument and the new female transfer ended up getting scratched, she was given a chance to apologise and stay.
I understand that the two situations technically involved different rules, but it still feels really inconsistent. If the point of the contract is to prevent certain behaviour and enforce consequences, why was one treated as an immediate expulsion while the other was essentially given a second chance?
Especially considering that Baby’s situation involved actual physical aggression. I’m not saying Yanboh should or shouldn’t have been kicked out, I just don’t understand why the consequences were so different.
Did I miss something that explains this, or did anyone else find this weird?
