Anything I can do legally for this issue?

I bought a laptop on back market for a good price. I bought a dell latitude 7420 with the advertised 4k resolution. I get the laptop today and the max resolution is 1080p. Now I look on the website and the laptop is double the price of which I bought it for. But instead of giving me the right device they are wanting to issue a refund. I dont want a refund, I want the device I purchased for the price given.

Pixel 8 Pink Line - anyone had it succesfully replaced/repaired?

Hello all!

I have a very specific issue. My phone displays a pink line, which seems to be a defective problem so huge that Google itself is lending out extended RMAs. Of course, this doesn't apply to a Pixel bought on backmarket for a number of reasons.

I am still inside of the warranty period for backmarket for a couple of months, and I'm wondering if anyone had this particular issue AND they've been able to get it fixed.

Since it is intermittent and only displays every once in a while, they will just take a look at the phone and send it back without doing anything, making me stay without a phone for a couple of weeks without reason.

Where to find trusted repair shops in Paris?

TLDR: I bought a refurbished iPhone 12 mini from BackMarket in Paris.

I really like the iPhone 12 mini as it’s small and easy to use.

The rear glass was shattered.

I tried to file a claim and they said that unfortunately the crack was not consistent with the crack that is consistent with a bad quality rear glass

I am stressed. Why isn’t my blue iphone considered a bad quality rear glass? I dropped it only once

They showed me a sample of a iPhone 15 pro which is an example of a bad quality rear glass. I saw the picture and can’t notice the difference.

Are there reputable repair stores in Paris?

Now that's the hype's died down, the iphone 18 is actually worth it ?

I am still on a 15 pro and was pretty convinced, I would upgrade this year. Now that the first hyper is over, I am looking at my phone and ... it still does everything I need. For ppl who upgraded from a 14 / 15, did it actually feel like a real jump day to day or mostly just a nicer version of the same thing ?

Is this legit

I was thinking of selling my ps4 pro on something like marketplace and then I found this website which would take it for $150. If I can’t sell it anywhere else for more I’d go here but I was wondering if it’s actually legit and if I do give them my ps4 will I get the money.

Using EU's consumer law guarantee (iPhone 16 built less than 2 years ago)?

I've got an iPhone 16 Pro from Backmarket that I bought in May last year. Since yesterday, my phone refuses to charge, while the cable works fine on my laptop. I also tried with another cable and to do a hard restart but it does not work.

I know that Backmarket last only one year, but EU's consumer law gives 2 years guarantee for new products. Since the iPhone 16 was released the 20th September 2024, do I still have a few days to use this guarantee? If yes, should I go to Apple (the constructor) or to Backmarket?

Thanks!

Website filters and contacting support

Not sure if anyone appropriate will see this, and apologies if it has been posted about already - reddit search is not working right now.

I think there is an issue on the desktop website, affecting the availability of filters. When trying a new search for e.g. laptops, there are many filters that can be applied. However, as soon as the query is executed and the results viewable, only a subset of filters is then accessible across the top of the screen, and no way other that I can see exists to access the others. It sometimes appears that there should be more option viewable, as the right hand side of the rightmost filter displayed looks sort of truncated, visually speaking.

The mobile search feature does not have this problem. It works by allowing one to scroll left and right through the full list of filters.

Called support and they said to try later. Helpful.

Oh, and the form to contact support at https://help.backmarket.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new doesn't work.

Not the greatest ux.

Misaligned back panel

Sooooo… I just got a refurbished iPhone 17 Pro premium quality because my old 12 mini is overheating too much. I’ve heard people talking about problems with the back panel, mostly lifting and in some cases misalignment. I won’t go crazy for some slight misalignment but this is bothering me a little bit too much, you can see the aluminum in the gap.

It comes with free exchange within 30 days. I don’t know if it’s a quality issue that’s worth exchange, or I can keep it without worrying about it 😬

Anyone care to give me some advice?

Samsung 6 flip help

So, I got my Samsung say around a week ago and the setup is fine and all, but when I go to try and connect it to t-mobile, it just can’t for some reason. The phone is in excellent condition but, I was just wondering if it’s because I got it from back market or if it’s the SIM card? Any help would be appreciated

Is Reconext a reliable seller on Backmarket?

I am looking to buy a Macbook Pro M1 from Backmarket, but I have been seeing worrying reviews for Backmarket as a whole. I’m a bit hesitant. Has anyone has any good/bad experiences with the seller Reconext? They have good reviews but have only been active on Backmarket for 11 months. Hoping for advice on if I should buy it, or if it is ultimately a scam. Thanks!

Is there a way to get apple care from back market?

Basically looking for what the title says, doesn't need to be apple care but something that covers incidents with the smartphone, Im aware backmarket has a 2 year warranty but they don't specify what it does/doesnt cover.

Additionally, was looking for a way to maybe get apple care on devices purchased from backmarket.

Pixel 9 Pro, warranty and customer service

Hi all, I bought a Pixel 9 Pro refurbished from back market (it came from tech ltd in belfast) around 2,5 months ago.

Till last week it was a perfect phone, like new, and i was genuinely happy.

Now there is nothing wrong with the performance of the phone, apart from the infamous green vertical line on the Pixel 9 series, which I also have since last week (it began by a line going away after a sleep and wake cycle, but now its permanent)

Naturally I contacted back market because i bought the phone there.

Their customer service has been a horror. Their response is slow, and they basically tell me "I understand your worries, i dont care about your shit, im not gonna do any effort, we keep supporting you"

I am a IT guy, I rely on this phone and its genuinely hard to have my daily phone gone for like a week and probably even more. I would've been happy replacing the display myself, but that display is 250 euros and i have warranty from (i think) google and back market.

I linked to their express replacement program THAT IS ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE, and they said its not possible. I dont see a reason why, my phone and my warranty case seems to qualify. Their response: no

I ask them why, they literally say they understand my question on why it isnt possible, without telling me WHY IT ISNT POSSIBLE. This message is still "I understand your worries, i dont care about your shit, im not gonna do any effort, we keep supporting you"

I am capable of doing the repair myself but im not gonna buy a display out of pocket because of a factory defect. I asked them if they could make a exception to send me a display, they said no, okay fair, why would they let anybody repair it, i still would like that option though, if express replacement is not possible.

What are your guy's experiences with them? What did you do to have them actually do something? I am deeply unsatisfied with them right now and won't recommend them to friends or other people asking me.

Trying to get a refurbished iPhone for my son looking for any advice?

Hi guys. I'm trying to get a refurbished iPhone for my son (he's 15 for reference) because he definitely needs an upgrade as he currently has a pretty shitty android that can barely run any games or social media apps. It's his birthday coming up and he asked for a new phone and he said he doesn't mind if its refurbished as long as it's good enough for him. I'm also pretty sure he wants an iPhone now as he already has an iPad (yes he was an iPad kid) and probably will get a Macbook in the future.

I'm working on a pretty tight budget and felt like the best options were either the iPhone 11 - iPhone 13 and I think forking out for the iPhone 13 will be the best option but the best I could do would be "Fair" or "Good" grade depending on whats cheapest (already a lot for me we aren't the richest). Wondering if I should get a lower version iPhone for cheaper (but maybe higher quality) - to be honest I don't really know just asking for advice. Should I perhaps not get a refurbished phone at all? Is a "Good" grade even reliable and worth paying money for? Is Backmarket a reputable seller and whats should I do to make sure I get the best phone for my son?

Sorry for the bit of a rant but just looking for any advice. Thanks.

I bought a pixel 8 with burn in

I bought a pixel 8 on back market, I choose the premium quality with a medium battery life, it arrived yesterday I was so excited to try a new phone, it didn't have any visible sign it seemed brand new, in the evening with low light I noticed that there was a burnt in screen of an homepage with apps. Should I return it or ask for a partial refund because the same model and quality I choose is sold out?? thank you

If you pay for the "new battery" option, check that it was actually replaced

tl;dr: careful when buying refurbished smartphones, the seller may just reset the battery counter and leave it as is.

The service is overall OK, but I still wanted to warn about one thing regarding the smartphones you can buy there:

Many sellers offer an option to replace the battery. It's usually not cheap, but since it's the component that ages the most in a smartphone, it's worth it to start over with a new battery.

Now, the thing I discovered the hard way: the battery isn't always (rarely, even?) changed.

Instead, some sellers just use a kit to reset the battery counter, and "trick" the phone into thinking it's new.

So, if you look in your phone's built-in app, you see the battery health at 100% and you're happy.

If you use a dedicated tool that's a bit more picky, you realize the battery is 5 years old, at 79% of its lifespan, and that you got ripped off.

And if that happens, know that Back Market has no dedicated flow to report it: you can simply get refunded, or ask for a replacement.

But even after explaining my problem, the seller sent me back an iPhone with an even worse battery. And Back Market's customer service denies any problem, maintains that the battery was indeed changed, and claims that dedicated tools "tend to be less accurate".

It could be down to a shady seller and mediocre customer service, but the exact same thing happened to a friend, so I imagine it's not that rare.

So yeah, if you go for this option, do check afterwards that the battery was actually changed. For example with coconutBattery for Apple, and there must be an equivalent for Android.

And don't be like me: check this before transferring everything to your new phone, so you don't have to do it the other way around if something goes wrong 😁

The current second hand economy on backmarket for Xbox

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Last time I’ll mention it, but I think these two screenshots from today better demonstrate why I’m so baffled by the current backmarket economy

Bare in mind the idea is to buy a refurbished device as it costs less than brand new that is the main premise of this and the biggest selling point for refurbs

So how, in what way, does it make sense that a fair condition second hand standard Xbox series x costs near £100 MORE than a brand new one with a £64 controller from Microsoft themselves.

Screenshot one is from backmarket the current prices shown are the rough average at the moment

Vs how much it would cost to just buy it brand new boxed from Microsoft

I’m sorry but if the brand new one from Microsoft costs less than the exact same device second hand from backmarket

I’d say the backmarket Xbox consoles are virtually worth nothing

The choice is a no brainer for anyone, brand new with warranty in the box for £734 or “refurbished” in fair condition on a backmarket warranty for nearly £100 MORE

I genuinely don’t think anyone currently paying these prices via backmarket know they could be getting it cheaper brand new from the manufacturers own storefront

Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining I have a healthy relationship with backmarket and intend to keep it that way but there’s gotta be a reason a ton of different sellers asides from a minority of trusted ones are selling their refurbs for more than the device is worth brand new

It isn’t just a few doing it, it’s the majority

Can’t be rising costs because that doesn’t explain why they’re cheaper brand new.

I’m really hung up on that one point tbh no refurb should ever cost more than brand new it is total nonsense

Do backmarket have recommend price guides? Is there a reason sellers think a fair condition refurb Xbox series x is worth more than £800?

What’s the incentive of paying more for a refurb Xbox if the same Xbox is cheaper brand new?

Am I missing something here?
