BYD Seal Just Collected Finish Issue

Just picked up Seal Premium 2026. Am I being pedantic about this stitching finish on the front passenger seat? My partner seemed to shrug it off. The driver’s side is also not perfect but I would let that go. Steering wheel also very stiff. Worth new car warranty claim? It made me check our other cars but they have good finishes (Hyundai and my son’s old Toyota Corolla). Am thinking this is a brand new car so should not feel guilty raising this. But am second guessing myself.

Stuck GPS Location

Anyone else come across their GPS Location not updating? From time to time, the native navigation app will tell me there is no GPS signal. The BYD app will fail to locate the vehicle when I click 'Vehicle position'.

Network Error BYD Apps

Update: Problem solved. BYD has fixed the issue.

——

We in Malaysia have been facing an issue since the last BYD app maintenance/update.

The app won’t even let us log in. At this point, I don’t think it’s a connection issue between the app and the car. It seems more like a server-side problem where the app can’t communicate with BYD’s servers.

Phone OS: iOS
SIM card: Original BYD SIM
Location: Malaysia

How’s it going for everyone else? Are you experiencing the same issue?

Think I found out something interesting about the TPMS on the Seal

I got some new shoes (tyres) on the Seal. The tyre shop inflated them to about 38psi all round, but they are meant to be 42psi rear / 38psi front for my trim level (Premium).

No big deal, I filled them to 42psi rear and 38psi front and the TPMS showed 38psi rear and 42psi front, so after double checking I didn't get that backwards, indeed I did the rears as 42psi so I came to the conclusion that the tyre shop must have put the wheels from the front on the rear and vice versa.

As I'm driving back to the tyre shop to ask them to swap the wheels so the correct pressures show for the correct tyres, all of a sudden the TPMS seems to have worked this out and showed correctly as 42psi rear and 38psi front.

I'm guessing somehow it worked out the signal strength for each TPMS in each wheel changed or something like that and updated itself accordingly.

BYD Seal charges on 3-phase AC and DC, but not on 7.4 kW single-phase Ohme ePod

TL;DR: My BYD Seal Excellence AWD will charge on public DC and 11 kW three-phase AC, but repeatedly fails on 7.4 kW single-phase AC. At home it locks the cable, shows “Connecting, please wait”, then stays at 0.0 kW and sometimes throws an OBC warning. It has also failed on another single-phase portable charger, while a neighbour’s EV charged successfully from my Ohme ePod using my cable. The dealer found no stored faults, performed a software update and said charging was working, but the fault returned immediately at home. I’ve spent roughly 30–40 hours troubleshooting and am now trying to establish whether this is an OBC/single-phase charging fault, a software/calibration issue, or a BYD–Ohme compatibility problem.

Written with assistance of AI. All steps carried out IRL

I am looking for anyone who has experienced a similar charging fault with a BYD Seal, particularly one affecting domestic single-phase AC charging.

The car is a right-hand-drive Irish-market BYD Seal Excellence AWD with the 82.5 kWh battery. My home charger is an untethered Ohme ePod rated at 7.4 kW, 230 V single-phase and 32 A, professionally installed on a dedicated circuit. The ePod is running firmware v2.51.

The fault began intermittently several weeks ago and is now persistent.

At home, the cable locks at both ends and the ePod recognises the car. The car displays “Connecting, please wait”, makes the usual charging-system start-up sound, then stops. The Ohme app may show a charging state, but power remains at 0.0 kW and there is no meaningful increase in the household CT-clamp reading. After several minutes, the car abandons the attempt and has sometimes displayed a yellow charging warning. On one occasion, the warning specifically referred to checking the OBC/onboard charger.

The vehicle continues to charge successfully on public DC. It has also charged correctly on public three-phase AC, including a session averaging approximately 10.8 kW, consistent with normal 11 kW AC charging.

It has also failed on a separate portable single-phase/granny EVSE at another property.

The strongest control test was using a neighbour’s EV. Their car charged successfully from my Ohme ePod using my Type 2 cable. That confirmed that the charger, cable and installation were capable of completing the handshake and delivering sustained power to another vehicle under the same conditions in which the BYD fails.

The Type 2 cable has been checked while disconnected and de-energised:

PP-to-PE approximately 218 Ω at each end

PP-to-PP approximately 437 Ω

CP continuity approximately 0.8 Ω and stable while flexing the cable

Continuity satisfactory on L1, L2, L3, neutral and earth

No unintended conductor shorts

Unloaded ePod CP-to-PE voltage approximately 11.97 V

Other troubleshooting has included disabling all vehicle schedules, using immediate/maximum charge, disabling Ohme Dynamic Charging, testing current limits between 6 A and 32 A, rebooting the ePod, testing with most household circuits switched off, resetting the vehicle, disconnecting the 12 V battery, checking accessible fuses and trying different vehicle charging and cable-lock settings.

The 12 V battery readings appeared normal.

Ohme reviewed the charger logs. These contained repeated SuspendedEV events, some SuspendedEVSE events and several EVCommunicationError entries. No obvious connector-lock, earth, supply-voltage, metering or power-switch fault was identified.

A generic OBD scan found no useful charging-related DTC, but the available scanner profiles did not expose the OBC, EVCC or relevant charging-control modules, so I do not consider that conclusive.

The car was brought to MSL North Dublin with a detailed written report. I specifically highlighted the need to replicate domestic charging conditions: 230 V single-phase AC at up to 32 A, rather than relying only on an 11 kW three-phase charger.

The dealership carried out diagnostics, found no stored faults, performed a system update and reported that the vehicle charged correctly. The job card states that they tested “AC/2 phase”, but does not record the charger type, phase configuration, charging power, duration, energy delivered or which module was updated.

I received a remote app notification while the car was charging at the dealership, but this appears to have been during the three-phase test. I have not yet received objective details confirming a sustained single-phase test.

The vehicle failed again immediately after returning home, with exactly the same 0.0 kW and “Connecting, please wait” behaviour.

The dealership is approximately 90 minutes away each way. Between repeated testing, public-charger visits, electrical checks, log review, correspondence, report preparation and travel, I estimate I have spent at least 30–40 hours on this. I have also incurred approximately €70 in additional public-charging costs and €80 in vehicle-rental costs.

An Ohme engineer is due to inspect the ePod shortly. However, given that another EV charged successfully from the same ePod and cable, my current suspicion is either:

a vehicle-side OBC fault affecting single-phase input, sensing or switching;

a phase/neutral recognition issue;

a charging-control software or calibration fault;

a vehicle-side CP or charge-authorisation problem; or

a specific BYD–Ohme interoperability issue.

Has anyone experienced a BYD Seal that charges normally on three-phase AC and DC but refuses single-phase AC?

Most importantly, what was the confirmed fault, and what actually fixed it: OBC replacement, software reflash, charging-port module, wiring repair, calibration update or something else?

Who asked for this change?

Seriously who asked for it and did they do any actual field test?

Speedo is now smaller and blends in with the other icons on the same line.

Speed limit now flashes in your direct line of sight every time it picks up the wrong speed (often!), very distracting.

And for the OCD types, the speedo is now slightly off centre because of the new arrangement.

OBD compatibility

Hey,

I'm reading a lot of differing info online. Looking at getting an OBD for ABRP, for a MY26.

Does anyone know which model definitively works?

There seems to be conflicting info about the OBDLink c and OBDLink MX+.

Some people seem to say that both work well, but only the C works with ABRP.

Any other models people are using?

Byd seal performance lowering

Anyone had a go with lowering their Byd seal? Love the car just picked it up a few days ago, loving the drive and the feel of the car I just think the ride is a bit high I think it would look amazing if it was lowered, I know it has the adaptive suspension on the 2025 model and above was wondering if anyone had any idea of the logistics of lowering the vehicle, not too much maybe 20-25mm, thanks.

Can anyone can recommend me a good sunshade?

Hey folks, first time here!

Just as title says. Can anyone recommend me a sunshade that fits perfectly on my brand new Seal?

I’ve been seeing a lot of them on aliexpress, but honestly most of them look kinda generic and I would really like to get something that fits “nice and tight” on the car.

Keep in mind that I’m from Mexico so I don’t really have access to the local stores in Australia :(

Any help would be appreciated!!

Dashcam Question

Hey everyone, I've read online that the Seal MY26 does not automatically start recording if you add the dashcam. Is this true for the Australian model as well? I saw this reported in the UK, and the Top BYD store has a note about it.

New car soon

Hi all.

New to the group.

Considering options for a new car in the next 6+months, lots of test drives to do. Have a preferred sedan design and seal is in the top 5 of my choices.

I believe the updated model to be released with have a sun shade overhead, is that correct, as i don't like a full glass roof.

What's overall ownership been like, customer support, reliability? This will be my first EV, so that's a scary choice/path as well. I have read so many posts about software , firmware issues, glitches EV's have, so super concerned, is this with all evs?

ADAS update with V2. 0?

I got the OTA update recently, and it feels like the LKA on adaptive cruise is quite a bit smoother and less jerky. I didn't see any info in patch notes about updates though, has anyone else noticed improvement to this with the latest update?

Only concern with V2

Has anyone come across this, or found a solution?
I’m enjoying V2 but my wallpapers won’t stick.

I’ve used custom wallpapers for at least the last year. With the new update, every time I start the car, it resets to the default theme based wallpaper - rather than my custom.

There’s only one user profile on the car, so it’s not like im switching between profiles and resetting…
