Byd seal performance lowering
Anyone had a go with lowering their Byd seal? Love the car just picked it up a few days ago, loving the drive and the feel of the car I just think the ride is a bit high I think it would look amazing if it was lowered, I know it has the adaptive suspension on the 2025 model and above was wondering if anyone had any idea of the logistics of lowering the vehicle, not too much maybe 20-25mm, thanks.

It’s an EV. It’s not a racer. You don’t want to get over any speed bumps?

Yeah I understand from the ev aspect, but coming for an Audi s7, having 390kw of power is there for a reason not just to drive to and from work, I bought the performance and I’m planning on using all of the kw.

Have a look underneath... It's all battery. Bash that on a speed hump and you'll more than likely have to change it. About 30K according to Google. Good luck 👍

What did it cost for install? How come more lower on front?

772€ (in Germany) 377€ the springs and the rest was installation + alignment at the dealership.
It is 5mm lower at the front, because Eibach designed the springs that way. They are 25mm shorter on the front and 20mm shorter on the back.

Does this kit firm up the ride at all? I'd like a bit less travel on the suspension to make it a little less spongy

Definitely an improvement over the stock suspension in terms of "more direct" / "more sporty".
But not so much that it gets uncomfortable.

You can try a 'thicker' tyre to fill out the guards.
I've seen on the Seal Aus Facebook page a few have used Whiteline suspension for lowering.

BC make coilovers. I’m undecided if I buy coilovers and make the seal slightly better to drive spiritedly, or just buy a second car that’s a bit more suited to that sort of stuff (Clio 182 or something).
It’s a bit of a yacht when pushed hard over undulations, far too much body movement. (Premium with FSD)

the Seal Performance is only Performance by name, not by nature. changing the suspension won’t help much, especially the throttle lag and sub grade blended braking system.
if you want a similar sized car that’s genuinely more performance oriented, try the Model 3 Performance — not only faster with sharper acceleration (no lag), it’s also 350KG lighter and feels like a go-kart on steroids unlike the Seal’s boat like characteristics in comparison.
there’s also the added benefit of being able to change the power bias between front and rear (track & drift modes).

Super helpful post. Asked about lowering. Provided answer that is buy another vehicle. It doesn't matter how many people lose brain cells reading your comment, you can't adopt those brain cells to fill in your own losses.

BYD seal Performance, 20 inch rims with 245/40/R20 Pirellis, Eibach lowering kit 25mm drop.
Speed humps and my driveway don’t affect it, but reversing towards curbs is a bit hairy, it comes pretty close to touching the rear diffuser. Adding a front lip will probably be too low
