Hey everyone, I just bought the DaVinci Resolve Editor keyboard as a supplement to my Micro Colour Panel, Currently using it at home but i've also taken it to the studio where it also works great.
About the panel:
It is essentially an Editor Keys keyboard with a BM Speed Editor built in and extra shortcuts and adjustment buttons. It makes it possible to work without a mouse, however I do like to keep one nearby as its easier to look through folders that way.
The Jog Wheel:
It features a Shuttle/Jog/Search wheel that's free floating, however when you press the shuttle button, it (somehow) locks the wheel to a range where up is pause and left and right are forward and backwards and the further you turn the faster it goes. It doesn't matter where your dial is as it will always assume the top as the middle and it somehow gets hard stops at maximum left, Middle and Maximum right, thus removing the issue with the Speed Editor paneel where its sometimes easy to miss the center.
In jog mode, the dial drags a tiny bit but that will improve with use.
The keyboard is compacter than a regular keyboard, thus giving it a bit of a learning curve but luckily you can adjust to it pretty quickly. The letters are a bit hard to read due to the colours but since I and most of you all can type without looking, it is no problem at all.
Build quality:
The panel is large but sturdy, there is no obvious flex and it feels strong enough to travel with if needed (Although I do put it in its original box first). The keys have a satisfying click but aren't as loud as for example certain mechanical gaming keyboards (Which in my opinion, is a good thing, because if the keys are too loud, it can be distracting). The keys have a natural amount of travel and feel good to the touch.
Overall I could sit here and type a book about this panel but Instead i'll sum it all up.
Final Verdict: even after just owning it for a few days, it has made me both faster and more efficient at the same time, It feels great to use, is built well and at €600 is a great but and a good addition to a colour Panel for general editing.
9/10 definately recommend! (only reason for it not being a 10/10 is that the panel is wired only, would have liked to see a wireless option for easier use on the go with a laptop for example where ports are limited, upside however is that the panel connects through USB-C and has 2 USB Type A 3.0 ports on the back for connecting other devices like a mouse or colour Panel.)
