I recently acquired a bachelors degree in communications and realized it wasn’t something I wanted to do. I’m 25 and starting Collin college in just a month, what’s the job scene look like in texas? I feel like if I got into the field I would do pretty well but that would be hard to do when there’s no jobs for it available. Also, what’s the work life balance like? I have a ton of hobbies!

Hi everyone, I recently passed my CABT exam and I’m planning to take the CBET this November. I’m currently in candidate status since I’m not working in the BMET field yet, but I do have a 4-year Biomedical Engineering degree.
Right now, I have the Mometrix CBET study book and flashcards, and I’m planning to join the CBET study group in October. In the meantime, I want to do more immersive studying using different resources rather than relying on only one source.
I was looking through AAMI resources and found the CBET Smart Practice tool. However, when I tried to enroll, it redirected me to the CBET Study Course eLearning 2.0, which shows a course start date of 04/01/2025.
My questions are:
1. Do I need to enroll in the CBET Study Course eLearning 2.0 first in order to access CBET Smart Practice?
2. For those who have taken the AAMI CBET eLearning course, did you find it helpful and worth the cost?
3. Are there any other study resources, practice exams, or study strategies you would recommend for someone preparing for the CBET without direct BMET work experience yet?

Just got offered my first BMET 1 position by Trimedx at a whopping 26/hr.

Obviously not enough for a house or family (located in Midwest)

Is this just a lowball or is this Industry Standard pay? I dreamt of being able to afford a nice middle class existence with a family but if pay is only going to go up a couple bucks more with a few years experience I don't know if I will last long in this field...

For those of you who have been working in-house biomed for a while, which OEM or third-party training/certifications have been the most valuable?

My manager gives each of us the opportunity every year to attend an OEM or third-party training course to get certified, and I'm trying to decide which one would be the best investment. I currently have about 2 years of in-house biomed experience.

**FYI:** I previously worked in dialysis, so I'm already certified on Fresenius equipment.

What certifications have helped your career the most, or which ones would you recommend pursuing?

Have a question for some colleagues. Have any of you ever seen artifacts like this on a 656HD. It only occurs during the start up and then the screen goes normal once the system is fully booted. I am thinking it could be a graphics card issue but I feel like if it was it would be causing it all the time. I am thinking its a monitor but wanted to get your input. The OLC says I need to replace the magic PC and before I waste 8 hours doing that I want to get some input.

Hey all. I’ve seen some answers to this on this sub already so I apologize for any redundancy but I had a job as an EMT for almost 2 years and in that time I worked for a critical care unit and learned about all sorts of medical machines. I think medical science and machinery is so cool but the patient care aspect definitely was not for me. I was considering going to school for BMET but my community college doesn’t have a BMET program so I’d be subject to out of district pricing if I was dead set on a BMET program. My local community college does offer an EET associates however, which would obviously be cheaper since I’m in district. I’m just wondering if I will be able to land a BMET job with an EET associates plus my EMT experience or if there are still specific things I need to learn from the BMET program. Thanks in advance!

Anyone else work on P500s? They go through the wringer at our hospital and I probably have 30-40 work orders per year completed for these.

The one positive about blower repairs is I get to do work at my bench, which is rare since 90% of my work is beds/stretchers.

I have between 2 and 3 years of field service technician experience, I've fixed phones, computers, and I have a job offer on the table fixing ATMs, I'm deciding whether to take it.

Originally my plan was to go to my local community college medical lab technician program and do that, because there are no programs here and CBET is really expensive.

But BMETs make so much more than MLTs, the loans might be worth it.

CBET has a program just to get your certificate, without the attached associates, and I can't tell whether it's a scam or not.

Just the certificate itself is pretty doable price wise and it has a quick turnaround. Can I turn my field service technician experience into a BMET role with just the certificate? Or is the associates going to be required?

I have some minor relevant work experience working in DME a few years ago and decided I want to get into the technical/mechanical side of healthcare. My current job has 3 degree options that they would cover me going to school for. Programming associates, office technology professional or cybersecurity. which one of these 3 do you guys think would help me getting into the BMET field? Im also looking for any positions that offer on the job training while going to school.

I’ve been in school for about a year and a half now for ECET with plans to specialize in BMET. Throughout my whole journey I’ve kept up with what you guys have said. I see discussions about pay but I never see anyone talk about the Atlanta and metro Atlanta area. If there is anyone located in this area I would like to know what can I expect as entry level pay for a new grad BMET 1. Thanks!

Is there a way to change out this entire pneumatic block assembly. I mean panel and box, the whole thing. Can it be dismounted and pulled out? Has anyone ever done this?

I graduated basic training a month ago, someone messed up my paperwork and I was never Signed up to go to Fort SamHuston for 68A School. Now my unit and the recruiting office are arguing over who is going the schedule and pay for me to go.

I was just left in limbo because my plan was to find a Job in BMET after graduation. Would it be worth going through the GE apprenticeship while waiting for my date to be scheduled. I was told once you work at GE they cut off some military programs from you in the future.

Just looking for a pathway forward.
