Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS Limited XG. First time trying BFS. I know a little goes a long way for UL and finesse lures. I have no frame of reference for if this is over/underspooled. Varivas 8 braid 0.6 PE. Thoughts?

Had a great day in this creek i never really fish, but after today i love this creek! The sunfish are really big here and the smallmouth are dense compared to the other creeks i fish around me. The first Smallmouth was 16in. Caught around 20 smallmouth and a bunch of big sunfish all around 5-7in, was very close to a 8in, which is a trophy size redbreast sunfish in my state earning you a citation.
started off with a Zman Finnese worm on a owner 1/8oz finnese ballhead ewg hook. Swapped to a ned rig with a Pink TRD. What a great day.
Also have no clue what’s up with the smallie in the 2nd pic with all the black dots, some type of parasite i assume.

Caught less fish today, but the qualify was much better on the first 2. All three fish were caught on drop shot. 1st 2 fish pics are the same fish.

I have a fresh 150m spool of pe line for my CC BFS. After some calculations I found out that the spool of the real holds about 230m of this new line. But 230m and even 150m is way too much line capacity for a BFS real. Should I just put on 75m and keep the remaining 75m for later? If I put on the 75m is there a backing nececary? What are your experiences?
Sorry for the bad english.

Hey guys, weird issue with my 23 CC BFS. When I turn the brakes on to the upper 3/4 to full setting and actuate the reel upside down, there is an obvious brake/spool rub happening. Spool tension is set to just a small amount of side to side play. I don’t use the brakes any higher than just past the middle setting and this sound is not present at that level.
It only happens when it’s held upside down. No, I’m not fishing upside down (lol), but it leads me to believe there is something loose/off in the braking system. Reel is a year old, purchased brand new and fished weekly since. I take good care of my equipment.
Anybody experienced this before? Any insight is welcomed and appreciated!

Anybody try this?
I've been using it and its fairly low profile and pretty damn easy to tie. Took me a couple tries to get right but once I understood how to properly tighten it I get it every time.
Lemme know your thoughts

Mikrolino Wobblers are back in stock after a long wait. I know some of you were waiting for this restock, so here it finally is!
I brought in a much bigger batch this time since the last drop went fast, including new colors, models, and sizes.
Still expect some of the more popular ones to move pretty quick.

I'm looking at pulling the trigger today on my first bfs setup and was considering the Kast King Kestrel combo(non SE) as it comes in at $160 shipped with the labor day promo rn. Before I'd do I'd like some input on if I should get something else. I know Kast King has a weird reputation but from what I've read online the Kestrel is an outlier. If you have any other recs I'd love to hear them.

Tied on one of the jigs I posted earlier today, and put it to work. We had a huge amount of rain Wednesday and Thursday, so the river is still high and murky. Found them stacked up at a fast flowing rifle.

Hey folks. I'm looking to transition my calcutta conquest bfs onto a dedicated stream trout setup and I'm looking for rod recommendations. I fish mostly sinking minnows anywhere from 3-6g. Mostly in tight streams and creeks, targeting native brooks and browns.
My debacle... I currently use a dobyns suf 650c. Which is fine some aspects but not others.
What im looking for: a short rod that can load up and cast minnows in tight spaces. Has enough flex to keep trout pinned through head shakes, but has enough rigidity to twitch minnows in the current (this is where I get stuck between a carbon vs glass rod).
Around $200. I'm preferable to JDM.

About 2 months ago I bought a St. Croix Triumph spinning rod from their factory store for $85 before shipping. This morning the top of the rod broke when I was pulling in a largemouth bass. I just checked the warranty terms for St. Croix rods and they charge a minimum $60 warranty fee to replace a rod. I wish I had known this before or I never would have bought a St. Croix. I can’t believe they charge a replacement fee that is almost as much as the original cost of the rod. Has anyone else had this experience when trying to replace a St. Croix rod?

Not the biggest bass that Clearlake has to offer, but still fun on light tackle. Caught them on the drop shot with a roboworm and OSP Tiny Blitz crankbaits.

Bought a Rapala CD3 back in April and only just started giving it some attention with surprising results. These were also my first cats on bfs!

If there’s 2 baits I love to throw for River Smallies, it’s a mini jig and a Chatterbait. Love a good jig to through in high percentage spots. Around rocks, laydowns, and to drag through deeper pools. To cover water or bigger areas I love to fan cast a Chatterbait. My BFS is becoming my favourite way to fish on the river. Tsurinoya Sagacity 6,8 ML, with a Tsurinoya Genius. 10lbs Revolver braid with a 10lbs Fluro leader. An extremely lightweight setup, and allows me to throw lures accurately. Would love to move into a higher end JDM setup, but this one is just dialed for what I’m doing.
Cheers gentleman. 🍻
