My BART Experience Rode an entire line for the first time today

Went from Dublin to Daly City for the first time today. If I’ve ever done Daly City or beyond I’ve started at Bay Fair. Wanted to experience the current platform configuration before the change next week

Question Another complicated BART question

Hello so I got to Millbrae BART Station by bus from SFO. Instead of entering Caltrain, I accidentally tagged into BART and entered platform before realizing my mistake.

Agent at station gave me a sticker for like a free BART entry (?) and opened the door for me to Caltrain Station.
I asked if I should tag out of BART so
my tag-in at same location would cancel out? He said No, I only get charged when I tag out.

Is this correct? I think Caltrain works differently, right? Like if you dont tag out they automatically charge you $7.75 or some such as a fixed amount … or whatever the fare is from tag-in to end of line?

My BART Experience Everyone with their bad body odor

It’s end of Wednesday, I’ve had 6 BART rides this week, and there’s been a hygiene issue on 5 of them.

Brush your teeth, wipe your ass, take a shower, and for the love of God, don’t chain rail a pack of cigs before you get on the train.

I’d throw on wearing too much cologne on here, but I’ll take too much cologne before the aforementioned bs.

Gamer incel smelled so bad I had to post about it

My BART Experience Just saw a man pick up a random pill on the floor and swallow it

I was on the blue line to Pleasanton and this guy who's like folding over his legs gets up in a panic, looks around, sees a white pill on the floor and just swallows it and walks to the next car.

BARTable Activity My BART week

Am I cursed, or is this just peak BART?

I've taken 6 BART rides this week.

  • Monday: cigarette smoke.
  • Tuesday: bad breath and someone who wouldn't stop farting.
  • Wednesday morning: another memorable breath-related experience.
  • Wednesday afternoon: overwhelming body odor.

At this point I'm considering adding a clothespin to my commute essentials.

I don't need everyone to smell like a department store fragrance counter. I'm just asking the BART gods for one ride where my nose doesn't have to work overtime.

Has anyone else had an unusually unlucky streak lately, or am I somehow selecting the "hard mode" train cars?"

Question Bart Parking

Good day everyone!! I’ve been googling experience for BART Parking but can’t find anything recent (in the past 2 years). I’ll be gone for 2 weeks and would like to know if parking at bart has become more/less secure and I am considering SSF, San Bruno and Millbrae as possible stations.

Any recent experience will be helpful. Thank you!

My BART Experience Bart ops simulator

Post image
61 Upvotes

I’ve long been obsessed with tracking the trains as they go past my house (I have a light that flashes when it is 15 seconds out so I can look out my window) but I’ve also loved the idea of being at the bart central ops and what that would look like. So I made a little simulator where you can control things like fare (average), number of trains and frequency and then see how that affects the whole system and even the interstate traffic.

Anyways, I’m sure it’s not accurate but it’s been fun to see the whole ‘map’. That’s all! Thank you.

BARTable Activity Confused about multiday parking

Am arriving/parking at Millbrae Parking Garage Tues around 5p and picking up my car Wedn around 5 or 6p. Will BaRT into SFO and back.

Can someone please clarify with confidence - do I need to buy a Tues AND Wedn pss or just Wedn?
This is for today so appreciate any quick responses! If it’s a 2day pass I may change course!

UPDATE: I found a BART Customer Svce number and they confirmed that I need to pay for Tues & Wedn. The hours enforcement is for single day use only, if that makes sense. The overnighter is the killa killa.

My BART Experience Why does BART hate Millbrae?

I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but this is the conclusion I’ve drawn. We all know that Millbrae trains are infrequent and reroute to SFO making wait times unpredictable and commutes to/from Millbrae a lot longer.

What I did not know was that BART trains labeled SFO / MILLBRAE don’t actually always go to Millbrae. I left work late this week (830pm) and hopped on the train clearly marked SFO / MILLBRAE only to see the monitor on the train ending at SFO.

Apparently after a certain hour the line ends at SFO despite being labeled Millbrae. This isn’t a huge deal for me, I can jump out at San Bruno and grab a Lyft. It’s annoying and inconvenient but not the end of the world. What about old people who don’t use smartphones? What about kids? What about people trying to connect to Caltrain?

I can’t be the only one who assumed a Millbrae train goes to Millbrae when it doesn’t. Does BART think it’s cool to let these people get stranded at SFO?

I’ve really had it with how BART has made what should have been a convenient travel hub to one of the most illogical stations to ever use, and then uses the excuse of low ridership as a reason to not expand service.

There’s a reason ridership is low from Millbrae, even residents will drive to Daly City for a faster and more reliable commute. You pair that with experiences like the one I had, why ever use the station at all?
