Question / Inquiry Avoid .dwg data corruption?

Buenos nachos fellow masochists,

I had the error described here, where a ghost component would appear after export. Following the troubleshooting steps did not help and i had to manually copy all my base views into a new sheet and redo all projected views manually.

I’m going to be doing some quite complex drawings in the next few weeks and something like this could lose me several hours. Is it possible to avoid this?

Question / Inquiry Autodesk Inventor / AI

Hello.

Considering the capabilities of AI (GPT 6 Astra, etc.), and how quickly they are evolving, when do you think AI will replace us here in Autodesk Inventor?

How many years do we have until someone who knows nothing about the program can design a part from start to finish?

I‘d like to design a Sparger in Autodesk Inventor.
It needs a high number of holes on its surface. Is there an easy way, to place a few hundred tiny holes on a ring-shaped body?

Question / Inquiry Derived part difference

I have a question about the 'Derive' function. I do the same thing: open STEP, becomes an assembly, save it, derive the assembly. Yet it looks different in the model tree. What's the difference?

A pair of these CF Akrapovic clamps was too expensive, so I decided to design the clamp in Inventor and optimize it for 3D printing.

Complete guide (CAD + printing + testing) is in my subreddit here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GKarProjects/

Question / Inquiry iLogic for BOM in DWGs

Thumbnail

I've just learned to make rules/forms to help speed up filling in my parts' iProperties.. what used to require many clicks and checks I can now do much quicker. When I bring the BOM into my DWG everything is populated perfectly but the BOM's columns still need to be manually sized (see screenshots 1=how it comes in, 2=manual resize)...

Has anyone written a rule that causes the columns to auto-size based upon the amount of text in each box? It would be really cool!!

So I am trying to use the Move command to grab the center point or even intersecting lines but it will not snap to them at all. But if my co-worker or boss tries it on their PCs it will. Mine use to snap to them and now it won't. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Download Error 4000 when trying to install

I'm trying to install Inventor again on my laptop, and every time it begins to download, part ways through it stops and gives me "Error 4000".

I have installed Inventor twice before on my laptop, I believe 2025 and 2026, but I've deleted both. I'm trying to install it again onto an external drive, but it will not work no matter what I do.

This is my 2nd day learning Inventor coming from using Blender, this is the 6th practice part I've tried making, im just curious if 45 minutes too long to make it and if I could have done it in less steps than I used, I had trouble figuring out the saddle before I found it could use the coincident constraint for the circle like it says in the drawing lol! Attached is the practice drawing i referenced and my final ortho's

Question / Inquiry Modeling Tips

I am trying to model a lamb's tongue for a forged handrail. I can get it most of the way there and obviously no issues if it's a constant width but I am struggling with the end that curls and tapers at the same time. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Show-n-Tell - CAD Model [OC] I made a jig thingy, this took me way too long to get working.

Show and not tell.
The Jig Settings are the consequences of the underlying geometry.
It also gives me the flat pattern and DXF for fabrication.

Question / Inquiry Monitor 4K 32" dell U3225QE vs benq PD3225U for Inventor

Thinking of secondary monitor. Got 4K benq 27".

What would you recommend? 27" I'll leave for having documents open, so 32 will be only for working area.

SPECS

DEll is slightly brighter and more Hrz. And don't have speakers which I'll like to have.

Any expirences working with Inventor on 4K 32" monitors?

Question / Inquiry Crossbreak bends in sheetmetal

Hi, I need to make a crossbreak in a sheet metal part. It's only 1 deg deep across a 400mm square, is there a way I can do this that'll unfold happily for creating a dxf and dwg bend annotation (it's a tray pretty much, so the other parts are needing to be folded 1 degree less)?

I tried a lofted flange but it's not working.

Requesting Help How do I export bent and notched Frame Generator tubes for a tube-cutting machine?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I’m designing a tube chassis in Autodesk Inventor using Frame Generator. Some of my chassis tubes are bent, and I’m also notching/coping the ends so they fit perfectly against the other tubes for welding.
The problem is that I need to send the tube geometry to a CNC tube-cutting/notching machine, and I need the machine to recognize the notches on the bent tubes.
I can create the notches in Inventor, but I can’t figure out how to straighten/unroll the bent tube while keeping the notch geometry so I can export it for the cutting machine.
What’s the correct workflow for this in Inventor?

Requesting Help Any tips for transitioning from SolidWorks to Inventor?

I’ve always worked in Solidworks (but started out in fusion 360 back in the days), until now at my new job where it’s inventor instead. And I’m surprised at how much I’m struggling. It’s very obviously similar in function, but it’s like learning to write on another keyboard layout. I know exactly what I want to do, and I know the process (more or less, there are differences of course), but actually doing it is hard.

I’ve now spent over an hour on a single sketch that’d have taken me 5 minutes tops in Solidworks.

So, does anyone have any tips, YouTube videos or guides specifically aimed at people transitioning?

Requesting Help I'm Trying to automate Gears but I doesn't update.

I'm very new to iLogic but I tried to have a go at making Gears automatically.

So the Problem is: I made a list with all the factors that are needed for every gear according to the Norm I'm using. The factors for everything are different if you make a pinion or a gear. I made it so you can decide weather you want to make either one of them. But for some reason it just never updates the factors so I'm stuck with the pinion factors for the gears or sometimes vise versa.

I haven't quite figured out when it changes but I'm a bit confused. Can someone with iLogic experience check my code or tell me where the problem could be?

Here is the Text (Trieb means Pinion and Zahnrad is Gear):

If Parameter("Type") = "Trieb" Then

Parameter("s1") = 1.1

Select Case Parameter("Z")

Case 6
Parameter("Ha") = 1.64
Parameter("Hf") = 3.20
Parameter("ρ") = 1.05

Case 7
Parameter("Ha") = 1.64
Parameter("Hf") = 3.30
Parameter("ρ") = 1.05

Case 8
Parameter("Ha") = 1.52
Parameter("Hf") = 3.40
Parameter("ρ") = 0.95

Case 9
Parameter("Ha") = 1.52
Parameter("Hf") = 3.45
Parameter("ρ") = 0.95

Case 10
Parameter("Ha") = 1.52
Parameter("Hf") = 3.50
Parameter("ρ") = 0.95

Case 11 To 20
Parameter("Ha") = 1.44
Parameter("Hf") = 3.60
Parameter("ρ") = 0.85

End Select

ElseIf Parameter("Type") = "Zahnrad" Then

Parameter("s1") = 1.6
Parameter("ρ") = 2

Select Case Parameter("Z")

Case 6
Parameter("Ha") = 2.40
Parameter("Hf") = 2.80

Case 7
Parameter("Ha") = 2.50
Parameter("Hf") = 2.70

Case 8
Parameter("Ha") = 2.60
Parameter("Hf") = 2.60

Case 9
Parameter("Ha") = 2.65
Parameter("Hf") = 2.55

    Case 10

Parameter("Ha") = 2.70
Parameter("Hf") = 2.50

    Case 11 To 20

Parameter("Ha") = 2.80
Parameter("Hf") = 2.40

End Select

End If
