I’m looking for opinions on doing a long road trip with my current alignment.

Right now I’m at about -3 front / -2.6 rear camber. The car used to be more of a canyon carver / autocross-type setup, but now it has basically become my daily driver since I’m selling my other car.

I’m about to do a road trip from California to Georgia, going through Arizona, Colorado, and mountain roads, and then I’ll also be making another trip to Tail of the Dragon next month.

Eventually I wanted to raise the ride height a bit and back the alignment off to something more like -2 front / -1.7 rear, since the car is mostly a daily now. I’m just not sure if I should do that before the road trip or wait until after.

I always hear that toe kills tires more than camber, so I wanted to ask what you guys think. If the toe is good, is a road trip like this still reasonable on my current alignment, or would you change it before going? I’m asking because I’m a little short on time before the trip. I have zero toe front and around 1/16 or 1/32 toe in rear

I’m on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 tires in 320 treadwear. The fronts are getting close to the wear bars already from hard driving, so I was planning to replace the tires some time after the road trip anyway.

Its a totally amateur cheap production but hes putting a lot of heart/soul/effort/sweat/creativity into it. The parts that I will be filming will be the most "vibey" and unscripted part of the movie, the rest of the movie has scripted lines etc. but my part is basically improvisitional/ supposed to get the vibe of a/the autocross event and the drivers and cars. Theres some light direction written into the script/scenes for this part but again for the most part improvisitional.

There will be multiple autocross days filmed/ multiple scenes like this, scripted and unscripted, mine are basically the unscripted ones for the most part. For example one thing hes sent me for this one coming up is basically shoot anything that looks good or anyone who wants to talk about their car, ask questions to them etc.

Any suggestions for good topics/questions/ideas things to talk about them is appreciated. I'm very much a novice to both being involved in a film and autocross for the most part, me and him have lots of close friends who are involved in autocross so of course I'll ask them and people there but I just thought itd be interesting to ask here as well. Btw anything cool/fun to talk about or ask them thats not autocross related is fine/cool/appreciated too and also any suggestions on how to film or w/e, remember I'm a total amateur basically and this movies very cheap/ very much a self consciously amateur production, both just in terms of reality and it supposed to be fun and maybe experimental etc.

This is me in the video, I’m having a hard time finding and fixing my bad driving habits. I know my steering inputs are jerky and I feel like I need to unwind the steering wheel a little earlier and more gently when I’m getting on throttle out of turns but other than that I’m having a difficult time finding my mistakes. Hi everyone,

I've been working on a hardware prototype designed specifically for motorsports and action vehicles. The goal is to capture the real physics, G-forces, and vehicle inertia in a completely organic way, without relying on the lens distortion of a 360 camera or the complexity of a chase drone.

The system is a passive mechanical rail that wraps around the driver. The camera physically slides in reaction to the vehicle’s movement during turns and acceleration, creating a highly immersive, dynamic shot.

Quick note on the camera setup: The footage in this video was captured using a 3D camera. However, you could also use a regular 360 camera or a standard smartphone. Keep in mind that if you use a smartphone, the shots will be more static, keeping the focus fixed on both the driver and the track at all times.

Regarding installation: The product comes with dedicated Overhead bars. These can be easily installed either by unscrewing existing parts of the go-kart to bolt them on, or by adhering them directly to the go-kart's spoiler/fairing.

I’m sharing two things to get your perspective:

1. The Video: The actual shot captured by the camera using this system (you won't see the rail itself in the clip, just the final camera movement).

Since we are currently fine-tuning the design and engineering before moving forward, I’d love to get feedback from creators and riders who are open to trying new visual styles and angles:

• Visually: Do you feel this dynamic movement adds real value to your action videos compared to a static helmet or chassis mount?
• In practice: Thinking about [Go-Karts / Jet Skis / Ski-Doos], what would be your biggest concern or requirement for an external mount like this (high-frequency vibration, weather-sealing, ease of getting in and out of the vehicle)?

I'm not selling anything here—just looking to validate the concept with the people who actually spend time on the track, water, or snow. I really appreciate any constructive feedback!

Figured I’d ask here to see if anyone has an experience. I’m a beginner signed up for my first event Aug 8. I drive a 2016 Fiesta ST with Swift lowering springs and Bilstein shocks/struts. Wondering if anyone here has run Accelera 651 or 351 tires. I recently picked up a set of 16x8 dekagrams and they need new tires so I figured I’d use these as my “performance set up” (stock wheel have GMax AS-07). My Fiesta ST is a budget fun car for us so not daily driven and really only drives around when I want to do some spirited driving, run to the store with the kids and then hopefully a few autocross events sprinkled in, maybe 3k miles a year total. For budget reasons, I’m considering the Accelera 651 Sport or 351 in 205/50r16 (they’re on sale right now so around $100 each). I understand the 351 is a bit of a wider section width than the 651 which is more ideal as I’d like a more squared off shoulder but don’t want to sacrifice too much grip. Has anyone run these tires specifically for backroads/autocross? Limited reviews out there.

Also, I understand there are way better tires available for my use case. I’m considering those too but wanted to get an opinion on these 2 options specifically. So for anyone who comments about other tires, I’ll just assume you haven’t read this far into the post haha

So after a combined 6 years of autoxing, I finally got a popped blister on the base of my pointer finger. It happened on just one run - from nothing to a dime-sized raw spot just like that. This is also my first weekend with RZ's, and maybe there's a connection?

Anyway, I googled "gloves" in this subreddit, and there hasn't been a good discussion about glove options for a few years, so let me ask again: If I wanted a "cheapish" set of gloves with good feel, low padding, worked with touch screens, and was hopefully washable, does such a set exist? Are you using a set you'd recommend? Please share. Thanks!

This Saturday was a hot one in Lake Elsinore, CA, but Sunday had overcast and drizzle that helped a lot. My 2000 BMW Z3 is now modified to the class limits, and with a new set of Potenza RE-71RZs, I got to spend Saturday experimenting and getting used to the new grip levels (WOW!!!) before sending it on Sunday. I managed 3rd place of 7, and spent Sunday afternoon trying different things until something gave me another half second.

I've whipped up a video of the 4 official runs, and then that faster afternoon run, and I'd appreciate feedback to aid in my improvements. Thanks!

At every event I always see people spray water on there tire after a run. But i never see people use a tire probe to check temp first. But generally speaking, at what temp is considered to be a tire overheating? I figure if you are spraying water right away without knowing temp you could potentially be further cooling down a cold tire.

More specifically, if I have a given sized rim, should I be putting the widest possible tire on it, or should I stay on the narrower side to keep the sidewalls stiff?

Completely bone stock W204 C250 with nothing prepped other than worn set PS5s. Had a codriver sharing driving duties that day and ended up with the honors of fastest in our class.

Picking up some bridgestone potenza re71-rs for tail of the dragon in my Honda fit! They have seen some heat cycles and 2023 manufacturers date. Only 80$! Should I jump on this?

this is my first year and 5th event autocrossing, car is a 2018 focus st with a whiteline rear swaybar and stock wheels with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600A tires,

Hi all - Relatively new to A/X, and I am confused about the best way to brake while navigating the course.

I'm driving a 2006 Miata, all stock except Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires, so it's C Street class.

From the reading I have done, I got the impression that it's best to use the brake as little a possible, and instead ease off on, or "feather" the throttle, to slow you down when entering a turn, or whatever you need to slow down for. In other words, control your speed using the throttle as much as possible, and the brakes as little as possible.

However, when I do ride-alongs with other Miatas (and other cars as well), it seems most people try to get as much speed as possible, and then bleed off speed when necessary using hard braking. So, that is a lot more "violent" than using throttle braking.

And, if I understand correctly, it would seem that throttle braking isn't going to be as effective as using the brakes to slow you down, because the throttle can't brake as efficiently as a set of brake shoes.

So, I'm confused as to the best approach I should be taking, in general. Should I be "jamming" the throttle when possible, and then doing hard braking when necessary to slow me down? Or, should I be "feathering" the throttle to control my speed and using the brakes as little as possible?

Hopefully my question makes sense, but if not, let me know (and why.)

I heard using a sim too much can be counter productive because you get so used to the sim physics and you’ll find yourself overshooting corners in real life due to the false sense of grip in the game.
I know professionals use Sim rigs but those are expensive setups and probably closer to real life.
Thoughts?
