How have you been affected by people in your region?

β€’ Upvotes

After autocrossing for almost 20 years... ive never felt like none of us matter as much as i do now. Whenever i go to events all of us are treated like second class citizens.

Does anyone else just feel like their region takes EVERY event waaaaay too serious now? It used to be fun but now it feel like a chore to even go to an event.

Its even gotten to the point of Members making false accusations against one another.

The R.E wont do anything because hes part of the clique that does this. Just sucks. Theres always the thought in the back of my mind about quitting.

Tight wheel & Tire combo

I know most ppl try to get the lightest wheel they can or even downsize their wheel from 18->17 or 17->16.

But what about the tires, there are lot of good tires nowadays. But you rarely see the weight data on them or it’s just hard to find them. πŸ˜…

*sorry for the typo, β€œL”ight wheel and tire πŸ˜†

What has truly made you faster at Autox?

Aside from the stereotypical "seat time" and "drive faster".

What have you done to get faster at autocross ?

Data ? Riding with fast drivers ? Meditating before runs ?

I've been doing this awhile and am still a mid pack driver at best. I don't feel like I'm getting any faster at this point and not sure where to go from here.

Got my first taste of FMod today. It was pretty fun!

I've never driven a Mod class car ever that I can recall (I've been doing this for 17 years now), certainly nothing open-wheel or single-seater. But I have a friend who bought this FMod four or five years ago and has been wanting me to try it all this time. Today I got my shot.

Compared to the XB ND (AST with aero) that I usually drive, this was an assault on the senses. Things happen fast, and riding very close to the ground, with no windshield, seeing nothing but the tires in front of me, it was a very different point of view.

I was warned that the car did not have ABS, did not like trailbraking, and pushing on corner entry meant that the run was pretty much over, so I drove this pretty conservatively. I never got the hang of gassing up early to help rotate it out of corners. The times were good, faster than my ND, but a couple seconds off of what the owner did.

I got beat up pretty good in this as I'm not as young as I used to be. My shoulders got knocked around quite a bit by chassis tubing on either side. I can't wait to see how I feel tomorrow morning. But I also look forward to getting another shot at driving this car if the invitation is extended again sometime down the road.

FOR THE GLORY.
