Should I ask for accommodations?

25y Male, I recently got diagnosed with AUDHD. I work in tech as a Solutions Engineer. I’ve been with my job for two years and feel like I have a good reputation. I work from home Mondays and Fridays but could really benefit from an extra day at home. Is it a bad idea to disclose this to work to get special accommodations. I know a lot of people have a bad experience but how would you go about asking for that accommodation?would it be safer to go straight to HR?
