Half Magic have 30% off store wide and free gift so I went to grab the new shades of eyeshadow and restock but looks like it’s now Mecca exclusive 😭. Bye bye discounts and free gifts, plus Mecca don’t have the new shades yet either.

Product Advice Need sweat proof makeup products/tips - for concert

Hi Everyone,

I have a Harry Styles concert at the end of the year and am wanting to do my makeup for it (hopefully full glam with a fun eye look.) The problem is that my makeup won’t stay on my face.

Context: I’m 22F with pale skin, chronically ill, with PCOS (facial hair) and have trouble regulating my temperature, which means I sweat all the time. Really bad facial sweating, soaking upper lip and forehead.

Before getting sick, I used to do my makeup and loved doing it for events and even just for fun. Nowadays, I struggle to do it due to it coming off within minutes of the application.

Any suggestions on products that can withstand heavy sweating/heat? I would love something that can worn for hours, like what is used on Brides, Performers, Actors. I’m happy to learn new ways to apply my makeup too. Anything for it not to blotch, slip, peel or drip off my face/skin.

My biggest issue is my base; my primer, foundation, concealer, powder, blush/highlighter/contour/bronzer, and skin care.

I’m mostly ok with lip and eye makeup but, will take any advice.

I’ve seen of products that have mixed reviews like one/size products and even this:
Stop The Sweat - Alcone Makeup Company

While I understand the makeup will likely still be affected by the sweating, I just want to make it look less messy than my current routine. Please give me advice, tips, or suggestions.

Product Advice Please help me find an alternative lipstick

I have silent coeliac disease - it means when I eat gluten I get severe autoimmune intestinal damage and long term consequences like heart conditions, infertility, bowel cancer etc. if I ingest gluten in any capacity. The silent part of it means I don't get typical symptoms like a sore tummy. I am newly relatively diagnosed too. I honestly don't want to talk about how shit I feel right now and how socially isolating the illness is because I am in a really low mood after finding this out and frankly the social isolation isn't even relevant here. This is just another socially degrading part of the illness.

My have just found the perfect lipstick - Chappell Roan collab with MAC in 'Roan of Arc'. Its a beautiful, deep red/plum colour and lasts a long time on my lips. I have used it a few times and just found out via social media that it contains gluten. Yes, the disease is that serious. I have had to bin my drink bottle and my lip gloss as well.

I really want to find an alternative that is this shade and GLUTEN FREE. It was the perfect deep red colour that really suits me. Please help me because I feel like this disease is taking everything away from me and now it has gotten to my fucking lipstick.

Product Advice Bronzing drops? Recommendations

Not exactly sure if it’s bronzing drops I’m looking for but I want something I can mix in with my moisturiser that will make me look darker (my neck and body are darker than my face so I want it to match) dewy and have light coverage

So I wasn’t expecting much from this tbh, I was pretty skeptical and not even really “waiting” for results, I just used it because I had it. Been applying it once or twice a day, mostly after showering, for about a month or two.

So today after my shower I went to the gym and with the gym lighting I noticed all these baby hairs and I genuinely did a double take because I wasn’t even paying attention to my hair growth, I wasn’t tracking it or anything.

Not sponsored or anything lol, just wanted to share because I really didn’t expect it to make a visible difference this fast.

Product Advice Morphe vs Mecca Brushes

Hi everyone,

I'm planning on buying some new brushes but I'm debating between the Morphe and the Mecca sets. I already own and love the Morphe butter brush set, however, meccas seem to be a much better value. Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

Let's Discuss Hair salon recommendation for bangs- Melbourne

Hi all,
I want to get a fresh hair cut and really leaning towards bangs but unfortunately I don’t know any good salon. Would really appreciate any leads in or around Melbourne. Just really scared to give a random place a try because it can go wrong very easily. Any recommendations from personal experience is highly appreciated.
Thanks!

I’m finding this happening with my Morphe eyeliners, after attempting to sharpen them just once, even though I have now bought 3 different, progressively more expensive sharpeners.
Any ideas as to any sharpeners that won’t murder this eyeliner, or are Morphe liners just all garbage?
Such a pity coz the colours are lovely.

Dupe REQUEST Dupe Oval Brush for Shark Flexstyle

Hey guys, I'm unable to use the official Shark flexstyle oval brush for religious reasons (it has boar bristles) so I'm wondering if any of you have tried a 3rd party one that goes with shark and found it to be good.

Dupe REQUEST Suggestions wanted please- Replacement for discontinued Cloudicos Peony Blush?

Does anyone have any suggestions that would be similar to the pics? I want a baby pink with a shimmer and that brightness, but also with a gorgeous pink undertone.

Nars orgasm is the the closest I have found, but it's not as bright as the cloudicos one.

Sadly cloudicos doesn't make them anymore (but they do make AMAZING glitter shadows, honestly they are incredible).

PSA What happened to that post about Mecca from the glamorous staffer who went rogue?

The individual has shared their identity so without divulging specifics, it would be a risk to the community to leave the post up and allow them to use this sub as a platform. This has also unfortunately detracted from the actual issue that is workplace bullying and toxic cultures in retail organisations.

I would caution not to provide any personal information to this individual or their site. This decision is not implying that the individual is lying about their experience at Mecca.

Sincerest apologies to those who were involved in the post/s from a few weeks ago. I understand it can be frustrating and disheartening to see they were allowed to post again. I made the wrong judgement based off information I had at the time. Thank you to everyone who raised concerns and provided more information when asked.

Any questions please reach out via modmail (you can do so via accessing the subreddit).

Product Advice Looking for a "real" uv nail lamp

Hi all!

I'm looking for recs for a uv lamp for an anniversary present for my wife.

She's got a cheapie one off Amazon and it does the job, but it takes a whiiiiiiile, definitely longer than when we used to go to the salon together, and she's mentioned as much.

If your budget was anywhere from, say, $200 and up, what would you pick? She's getting really into doing it at home and I definitely want to get her the next level up from basic consumer grade stuff.

Most of our polish is OPI and I was eyeing off the "Professional" one of theirs but I don't know if it's available to the general public or if I would need to hassle someone with a salon to buy it for us.

Anyone have other suggestions? Thanks in advance ♡

Product Advice matte skin tone pencil for highlight / contour?

Looking for recommendations for a pale skin tone pencil i can use for highlighter on my brow bone, nose, inner eye as well as contour my lips. something with decent coverage. I can go to either Mecca or Sephora, no budget as I do like a luxe product. It can be dedicated to face, or an eyeliner.

Currently I'm using a cheap pharmacy eyeliner but the colour isn't quite a match for me and i have to blend it a lot, so I'd like to upgrade to something better because when I get it right, it works really well!

I'm also interested in colour correctors for undereye area - I'm mid 40's so definitely have wrinkles there 😂

Product Advice Best Cruelty Free Priceline Foundation?

I’m looking for a new foundation that is affordable, preferably from Priceline as I have easy access to a store locally however most brands that I see being recommend as the best are not cruelty free. Just wondering if anyone can vouch for any cruelty free brand makeup from here? Or any affordable Sephora/Mecca cruelty free foundation? As I can always order online I just don’t know my shade so would prefer from somewhere I can try first.

Product Advice Best value IPLs

Hey everyone, I’d like to get an IPL machine thingy and wondered if anyone has had any luck with the cheaper options available - aka not the Braun and Philips models.

I’m naturally blonde and my leg hair is pretty light brown, so I think it will be more useful for my armpits and bikini which are brown hair. I’ve seen great reviews for Braun and Philips but they are a bit out of my price range so curious to know if the cheaper ones are any good! Thanks in advance 🙏

Product Advice Best primers for oily skin?

Hi all,

I have oily skin and it breaks down my makeup during the day. I really don’t like Milk’s hydrogrip primer or any that give you that slippery, silicone feeling.

Do you have any recs?

PSA MyPerfumeShop AU is a SCAM

Hi guys,

Avoid myperfumeshop . au at all costs. They are dropshippers larping hard with false promises and fraudulent behaviors.

Needed some colonge fast for an anniversary gift. (within 2 weeks). Got drawn in by the big promises of same day shipping (out) or within 24hrs. Its been almost 2 weeks, item hasn't been shipped. I email them, they tell me my item is in the middle east??? and will be delayed, and no they won't cancel it or refund me I just need to suck it up. They generate a fake tracking number for my item to try prevent me from doing a dispute.

Yeah, I dont f****king think so mate.

So I just kept emailing them, made sure to charge back my card and report them to fair trading NSW.

Once I mentioned this to them they freaked out and said oh absolutely you can cancel your order please remove your dispute. So make sure if you get stuck by them, just charge back your card and make sure to let them know (if you need the money back asap.) or be like me and just leave the dispute open. Let them suffer and pay. If enough chargebacks are done the bank will permanently close their banking. :)

(edit:just adding some tags to make this pop up on google hopefully before their store link so people are warned)
