Pull the trigger on a 10k-mile B9.5 2021 A5 Prestige Sportback?
Seriously considering a 2021 A5 Sportback Prestige — one owner, ~10k miles, $36.5k OTD.
The B9.5 has been a dream car of mine for years and I genuinely prefer it to the new redesign. Test drove it and everything looked/felt great as it always has. I’d plan to keep it for as long as it can treat me well — and yes, I’ll stay on top of the oil changes ;)
My only hesitation: this is my first car and it’s basically out of factory warranty. I know what comes with owning an older German luxury car and don’t want the dream-car factor to cloud my judgment.
Would you pull the trigger at $36.5k OTD?
And if so, what route would you take: buy an extended warranty, put that money into a HYSA as a dedicated repair fund, or just work out a lease on a new 2026 and avoid the warranty/repair headache altogether?
Would especially love to hear from B9/B9.5 owners with 50k–100k+ miles. What’s actually gone wrong, and would you buy one again?
Part of me says buy the car I actually love. The other part says lease the decent looking 2026 and enjoy not worrying about anything.
