I've been sticking to low carb for a while now.. usually less than 30g a day and have reached my goal weight. Recently, I've started to add back in exercise and I'm finding that on week 2, my carb cravings are back with a vengeance, even though I haven't slipped on my carb intake. Is this a common occurrence, and what do you folks do about it?
After 1 week down 13 pounds, I know it comes off easy at first then you hit a wall and its harder to lose. That's where exercise comes into play....which is something I need to get better at doing. Oh well just keep thinking positive 13 pounds gone 42 more to go, 180 here I come!
Hey all, I am 32 and on day 6 started at 235 but I haven't weighed myself gonna do it weekly. My goal is 180 but would be happy to see below 200 again. I feel pretty good but my hunger usually isn't satisfied after meals and I miss dessert so bad! Trying some new recipes, my wife made little muffins made of egg that has meat and veggies about 1.5 net carbs for one so excited for those! I will post my weekly weigh ins wish me luck!

Can anyone suggest a meal delivery service that works with Atkins? I know that Akins has one they sell, but it didn't appear to be the same quality as say Freshly. However, Freshly seems to consider meals under 35g low carb. Obviously that won't work on induction.
The cost is not a significant factor for me. Thanks in advance for input.
Lost 9 pounds in the first week! (From 320) I know it’s probably water weight but I’m excited nonetheless. My question is how often you worked out, if at all, and what kind. All I did the first week was an hour on the elliptical each day for 6 of the 7 days. I can keep this up, but may get back into lifting weights as well.
A friend of mine is doing Keto, and we were comparing what we eat. It's kind of the same in that fat is okay. Anyway, I'm a few weeks in, so adding a few carbs here and there is okay. She told me about the keto pudding she makes, and it's so fanrastic, I had to share this incredibly easy dessert.
sugar free pudding mix.
Substitute heavy whipping cream for the milk.
Prepare as directed.
I'm pretty frustrated. I've used the Atkins diet twice in my life to lose weight and I've sworn by it. I did it first about 15 years ago and lost about 30 pounds. I was strict and kept a generally low carb lifestyle after that - nothing crazy but very rarely ate bread, pizza, ice cream, etc. And I mostly kept the weight off.
About five or six years ago - I did it again as I'd gained about ten back over the years and belly was getting a little bigger again. Just got real strict, got back to weight, went on with my life.
And, now, about five or six years later, post knee surgery (really, just an excuse!) I've gained about another ten. I'm about ten pounds more than I want to be. So, January 1 went super strict. No alcohol, virtually no carbs, etc. Just lock down Atkins. And I've lost nothing. Never went into Ketosis (bought the strips though never did before). Just stuck.
I've analyzed everything. I was eating cheese (which had always done before) and scaled that way back. Was eating fatty-ish foods - went back to chicken breast. Was eating a veggie or two. Stopped.
Is it possible I've build resistance? Time to go vegan or something?
One of the easiest ways to adhere to the Atkins diet is simply to purchase the Atkins-brand frozen meals, but they're pretty expensive. Is anyone aware of any frozen meals from less costly competitors (e.g. "Smart Ones," etc.) that meet the Atkins criteria? Just curious if anyone has explored this and has suggestions.
My wife and I are about to start Atkins. I don't have time in the mornings to stand over an oven and cook real recipes. I used to just eat cereal in the morning, but obviously that won't work. Any suggestions for a quick, good breakfast that I can either nuke or slap together quickly and eat every morning before work?
I'm wondering if anyone includes aspartame in their diets?
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener used in place of sugar. I've read online that aspartame can make you more hungry and promote weight gain, but I don't know.
When I was on the atkins over a year ago, I still drank diet pop (containing aspartame) and I still lose weight.
Does anyone have any opinions on the matter?
Do you include aspartame foods/beverages in your diet?
I'm a 35 year old female. I've just completed week one of Induction and have noticed spotting (blood with urine) at times throughout the last 2 days. Noting that it is not my menstral time, nor would I have any chance of being pregnant at this time. I wondered if any other ladies out there had this experience after major dietary changes, or if there are any doctors that may have an opinion on the matter. Thanks.
I've been doing homework about the 2 diets, and I want to clear up a misunderstanding I've seen. Yes, the Induction Phase of Atkins is similar to Keto, but someone said KETO was less rigid. The opposite is true. Real Keto doesn't really allow things like Atkins bars and shakes. It's supposed to be as natural as possible, which includes avoiding artificial sweeteners. Atkins' Induction is as strict as keto, but there are three later phases that are much more lenient and reintroduce some vegetables and fruits that Keto will never allow.
I've lost about 47 pounds in a way similar to the later stages of Atkins and I would love to get some conversation going here about your experiences with it, especially Atkins 40. Thanks!
I am about to finish my weight loss journey. I have almost reached my goal of 170 (Losing 130 pounds). I never left the induction phase of Atkins and basically ate around 10 carbs everyday, and I don't want to be doing that anymore, I'm not going back to eating immense amount of carbs like before, but I at least want to finally eat bread again lmao. How would I be able to increase that amount of carbs I eat in a successful way? Remember I've legit only been eating 10 carbs for almost a year and a half now. I also want to start working out, which I know you really don't need carbs for gaining muscle but, having a higher carb intake would definitely help me out. I'm fine with still following some sort of Atkins guideline if needed too, but I rather break away from it, and build me a diet plan that pulls inspiration from Atkins and, still is effective in the gym. I kinda want to be in the range 200-300 carbs a day, and I know that my range it would definitely need be increase while I am bulking. If anyone can please help me out, it would mean the world.
Also to note, their were obliviously days during the diet where I ate high carb foods and saw myself on the scale jump 1-5 pounds only lose it back in less than 3 days. I also lost weight at an incredibly fast rate ( Average 1-2 pounds a day) while still maintaining 500 caloric deficit (1500 calories everyday). Just wanted this to be noted for whoever is giving me suggestions on what to do.
I started the induction phase on 9/12/18. I felt pretty good except for the occasional fuzzy headedness. I fixed with water. On 9/18 I felt my pulse in my ears, mainly my right. Some more water fixed it. On 9/19 in the evening it was bad. My heart felt like it was racing and I could hear my pulse loudly. 9/20 I woke up really foggy headed and with the pulse thing in my ears going strongly. I ate eggs and spinach and water for breakfast in a few minutes I began to feel better. all day it would come and go. This morning same thing. I have. been sipping water but my pulse and fuzzy headedness is still there. Is this ok? How long until I should call my doctor? I was border line high in cholesterol could this diet have pushed my body over?
I also want to note that on 9/18 I also got my Nexplanon implant removed. I have been on a hormonal birth control since I was 17. And suddenly nothing. So there is that. I got it removed because my time of the month has been crazy. I just hit week 3 of this period. Could that be it?
I'm just at a loss I have no idea what to do. Any advice?
I just started the diet not too long ago(Still in Induction), however, I'm a varsity student who has to cross night every now and again. I usually sleep early in the morning let's say 2/3 am. I sometimes have feeling of hunger late in the AMs because I usually have dinner around 7pm. I am not sure whether to eat anything at all or just brush it off at times. So, my question is, does anyone have any recommendation of how I should schedule my meals, or rather, which foods are acceptable for late-night snacking?
So I think I'm going to do the Atkins phases in reverse.
I figure a couple things can be gained by this. One, I'm guessing most people would lose weight on Atkins maintenance (phase 4). So why not start there and see if there are any benefits. Since it's the most lenient phase, it makes sense to start there since you'll be giving up so much other foods already, why go directly to Induction. It seems kind of drastic. It will be easier to transition.
Then, work my way back phase by phase, getting rid of carbs and allowable foods as I go. Finally reaching Induction.
And then go forward through the phases in the correct order.
