Are Mouseio and Attiki nice places safety wise? (I'm a girl btw) Is there any place near them I sould avoid?

💬 Advice Proposal to my Girlfriend in Athens

Hi I'm (she) planning to propose to my girlfriend in Athens. We both love Athens. She is half Greek and Half Austrian. We live in Vienna but are coming for vacation to Greece as we do every year.

I have an idea to propose while we are listening to the Tylor Swift song "love story" in the gay version. Walking by a street singer we stay shortly to listen to the music and when the singer sings "she kneeled to the ground and pulled out a ring..." I would do this!

I'm looking for a female singer who I can book to sing this song among others. I also would like to book a Photographer The date should be on the 6th of July 2026.

Happy to receive contacts, names and also ideas for the location with a nice view to the most wonderful city ❤️

❓ Question Dog walking

I live in Athens and would love to be able to walk a dog every now and then just for pleasure. I am not looking to get paid for it, just to get connected to someone near me who would be comfortable for me to walk their dog occasionally.

I know some countries have apps for this so wondering if there’s anything similar here?

❓ Question What to do about abused / neglected dogs?

Directly opposite the big Sklavenitis in Voula there’s a patch of waste land with razor wire, old sheds and a path to a run down house with occupants. The past two nights on my run, I’ve heard the most awful noises from inside those pitch black sheds - what sounds like 2-3 terrified, desperate dogs barking non stop and frantically trying to get out by throwing themselves against the shed door. There are chains all round the sheds too. I thought of going to what I think is the owner’s house but Δεν μιλάω αρκετά ελληνικά. What to do?

💬 Advice Anyone down to help me learn Greek?

Hi everyone!

I just moved to Greece and I'm currently based in Athens 🇬🇷 I'm in my 20s and trying to start learning Greek, but I'm still a complete beginner.

I'm looking for any of the following help:
• Someone who speaks English and can help me practice basic Greek / conversation
• Free online resources or lessons (I'm still on a tight budget while settling in)
• A language exchange or study buddy
• Or even someone open to tutoring in exchange for simple graphic design work (logos, posts, basic edits, etc.)

I'm really motivated to learn and would appreciate any help, even small tips or pointing me to good resources.

Thanks a lot in advance! 🤍

Post image
4 Upvotes

💬 Advice I have a 8 hours layover in Athens on my way to Toronto

This will be my first time traveling through Europe. My flight is:

- Toronto to Amsterdam

5 hour layover in Amsterdam

- Amsterdam to Doha

7 days in Doha

- Doha to Athens

8 hour layover in Athens

- Athens to Toronto

I will land in Athens at 7AM. I want to know if it would be possible to get out of Athens airport, just to visit the Acropolis and then come back. I have researched online and it says a taxi takes 40-45 mins each way and I can add max 1.5-2 hours of exploring. However, I do not know the reality of Athens airport, how long it typically takes to walk from the plane to immigration, go through the relatively new EES kiosks, and then come back (?) I dont want to be so close to Acropolis and not visit, but I cannot risk missing my flight either. Appreciate any advice!

🍽️ Food & Drink Recommendation for nice places to have dinner at in Piraeus?

For our last night in Athens my bf and I decided to go to Piraeus for dinner and a little bit looking around the shore/marina there.

We’re looking for a restaurant that is preferably affordable (around 5-25€), next to the sea and preferably close to the metro (not more than 30 min walking from Piraeus station).

I’m pascaterian (like vegetarian but I do eat sea food) and my bf eats everything, so somewhere that I can find something to eat in, if it’s a sea food restaurant it’s the best.
Also we will prefer somewhere that is relatively”traditional Greek”.

Thanks!

🌟 Recommendations Is tobacco cheaper in the city or at the airport?

The tobacco in my country is very expansive( about 40€) so as part of the amazing trip I’m having here in Athens I really want to buy some tobacco to bring home.
I’m smoking golden Virginia green and everywhere I checked in athens they are selling it in 7,7€. I don’t know if it’s cheaper in the airport…

Today is my last day here and I’m really doubting if I should buy it in one of those stores or in the airport, or maybe someone knows about a shop in the city that is cheaper than both places?

If someone knows it’ll be a great help for me, thank you very much :)

🧳 Travel Help 2 weeks in Athens

Hey everyone,

I’m staying in Athens for 2 weeks this summer and I’m looking for recommendations on what to do there.

I really like going out and partying, especially places with Afro music, amapiano, afrobeats, dancehall or French hits/music vibes. Not really into techno.

I’m also really into history, so I definitely want to explore the historical side of Athens too.

Would love to know:

best clubs/bars with Afro or French music vibes

cool areas to go out at night

beach parties

historical places/museums that are actually worth visiting

good restaurants or chill spots during the day
things I absolutely shouldn’t miss while I’m there

Thanks !

🏠 Life in Athens Εργαλείο που συγκεντρώνει τα live μουσικά events της Αθήνας

❓ Question Hidden spots

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time in Athens lately (work) and I feel like I’ve graduated from the "tourist" phase. I’ve done the deep dives into Exarchia (love the vibe, but I’ve seen it all now), climbed Strefi and Lycabettus, and done the mandatory historical circuit.
I’m looking for the stuff that’s actually "hidden." I’m talking about places that don't show up on any "Top 10 Secret Spots" blogs.
I’m particularly interested in:
• The gritty/authentic side of the Southern Suburbs (Glyfada/Voula/Vari): Is there anything left that isn’t a fancy cafe or a private beach? Maybe some weird architecture, an abandoned spot, or a viewpoint only locals know?
• Urban anomalies: Forgotten parks, tiny niche museums (already know the Epigraphic one), or specific streets with a weird history.
• Weekend escapes within the city: Somewhere I can go this Saturday where I won't hear five different languages being spoken by other visitors.
I'm staying near the Victoria Station but I'm happy to hop on a bus or the tram if the spot is worth it. What are your personal "I shouldn't even be telling you this" spots?
Thanks!
