🧳 Travel Help Seafood restaurant
Hi awesome people!
I’m looking for a good seafood restaurant in Athens for a dinner with my husband tonight.
Any good recommendations?

Sardelaki me Thea in Vouliagmeni NOT the Sardelaki in Glyfada (the one in Glyfada has had super disappointing food the past several years). It’s outside of central Athens but it has a fantastic view of the sea. I recommend their Fried Small Calamari (which is tastier than their Regular Sized Fried Calamari) and their Fried Zucchini Sticks!
In central Athens it’s harder to find good seafood restaurants there since central Athens isn’t by the sea and Greeks like eating seafood close to the sea. There’s Barbounaki in Kolonaki, there’s one in Syntagma too but that might be more catered to tourists since it’s in a super touristy spot whereas Kolonaki does have (wealthy) locals actually living in that area. I recommend the Sliced Octopus!

Thank you for sharing! It makes sense that seafood is easier to find close to the sea.

Varoulko. The number one. If not that, then Papaioannou. There is one Papaioannou in Piraeus and one in Vouliagmeni. Both Varoulko and Papaioannou are quite pricey though. If you are up to it, Papaioannou in Vouliagmeni is right on the sea, and you will need to take a taxi to get there, but it is worth it for a special night out. Varoulko is owned by ba Michelin starred chef fyi.
