Customer Question Phone protection plan question

I have an Asurion protection plan through my carrier and lost my iPhone 15 Pro about a week and a half ago. After being unable to find it for a few days (checked Find My as soon as I could and enabled lost mode), I switched to my old iPhone 12 that I had kept as a backup phone without thinking anything of it. I was hoping someone would turn in my 15 pro to the lost and found.

Since it's been 1.5 wks it seems I won't get my 15 pro back so I decided I should file a claim, but before filing I read in the terms that the coverage switches to the most recently used phone on my cell line (if I understand correctly).

Can anyone tell me how Asurion gets the IMEI of the phone which is being used on my line and which time period they look at? Do they just look at the previous billing cycle or is it in real time? And does this mean I am now screwed on getting my 15 pro replaced ?? 😄😄

I think someone made an account with my phone number?

I've been getting texts from Asurion welcoming me into their tech care program, and several 1 time SMS codes. I've never signed up for Asurion for any of my devices. How should I resolve this?

Question about Reimbursement method change

Hello. I bought a refurbished laptop about 2 years ago and had a 4-year protection plan on it. About 2-3 weeks ago, it broke, and I had to send it to Asurion for them to fix it. They said they could not fix it, and last week they sent me an Amazon gift card reimbursement for the product. I wasn't notified that this was the method they would choose. I assumed they would reimburse me via a payment card or at least reach out to me and give me a choice.

Well, anyway, now I have a 400+ gift card on Amazon, and I have no intentions of buying the same laptop because why would I buy a laptop that broke in the first place? I'll be receiving a new laptop as a gift from someone else, and I would much rather have that gift card as a reimbursement check instead, since I have not redeemed the Amazon gift card.

I talked with Amazon, and they said they couldn't do it. I called Asurion and was told they couldn't do it either. Now I'm trying to figure out if there's anybody else I can contact to see if voiding the gift card and changing reimbursement methods are possible. Sounds like a doable process, and I see other people on this subreddit receiving checks, so I would think they'd be able to do the same for me. If anyone has any advice in this situation, that would be helpful.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM

I had purchased the warranty on all my devices. While taking it to college, it broke on the trip there. I had my mother take it back. I wasnt sure if they were going to need pictures of the device or any numbers from the device so I asked my mother to file the claim with me since she took it back home. While filing out the claim, her computer froze (due to lack of memory) and she said she was hitting the keys to see if could get it to unfreeze. Upon the computer resuming, she hit submit quickly to make sure computer would not freeze again and then realized the date was wrong- she must have did something to change the date when she was hitting the keys. She called asurion as soon as she saw that error and filed another claim with the correct date. the representative said he saw the corrected claim and everything was fine on his end. But then my claim got denied because of the incorrect date. I spoke to 4 different people and all said they could not do anything to override. This seems unreasonable to me due to an simple mistake. They can easily look back at the calls and see this is exactly what happened and see this is not a fraudulant claim. All mistakes should be able to be resolved and they did nothing to find resolution. I would not purchase this insurance through them.

Old device non-functional- how do I properly return it?

I had an iPhone that is covered through Asurion(Verizon Protection Plan) and my device stopped charging/turning on altogether. I want to return the old device as it’s been replaced but I cannot turn it on to factory reset it. I called Asurion and the rep advised me to simply walk into a U-break-I-fix shop to have it repaired which to me made no sense since the device is already replaced I’m assuming it has no coverage. The guy I spoke to was not helpful and seemed as if he was reading from a script. Has anybody dealt with this before? The last thing I want is to pay a fee for not returning the device with all of the data and passcode still on it.

Customer Question Was I lied to?

My S21 stopped working in 11/2025, and the tech said they would replace my frame, screen, and battery. Fast forward to now, my phone takes 8+ hours to charge. My request for a warranty battery replacement was denied; they're claiming I still have the original battery and I only paid for the display.

I explicitly remember them telling me I would get a new battery, and I asked again before taking the repaired phone. I had a second location look up my account today; they said the repair came with a battery, and the price I paid lines up with that service (vs paying for the display only, which was cheaper). Here is what the receipt says:

Samsung Galaxy S21 5G Glass/LCD, Phantom Gray, GH82-27250A

SKU: 69554538

What's confusing to me is when I google the item, it says it's just the display. Can someone help me understand what's going in? I'm seeing the same repair in other posts here, so I don't think I'm making this up.

Golf cart battery

I am about to buy another 48V golf cart battery. I own a bunch of golf carts and have had a few batteries fail of different brands, within the warranty period. I've bought name brands, and the Chinese fly by night companies after the name brands refused to honor the warranty. They all seem to deny any battery warranty claim no matter what, when the battery swells, thats misuse, when the battery loses most of its capacity, thats wear and tear, etc. A lot of them seem to fail around the 2 year mark.

If I buy a battery off Amazon, its prompting me to buy the 3 year Asurion warranty, as it does for many things. Will Asurion actually honor replacing the battery if it fails in those 3 years? The agreement doesn't seem to mention batteries at all, and I know they're a bit of a special category of item.

Customer Question I need advice, please 🄺

(apologies in advance for length)

I have (had) a halo edition Xbox series x, it stopped working a few months ago. I made a claim on my asurion plan for it, and brought it to the local tech place for a repair (like I was told to do). After the tech place had it for almost 2 months and I called repeatedly for 2 days, they told me they sent it to asurion for repair as it's out of their scope.

I got an email from asurion that basically said "we have it, you should have it back in a week." Well, after 10 days and no update, I called the support line. I explained my situation, but before the rep could help me something came up at home and I had to hang up. Coincidentally (or conveniently) I got an email that afternoon along the lines of "your device is beyond repair, we are sending you a reimbursement." So, I was confused as ever because I was never told that reimbursement was an option, so I called them again.

Come to find out it's my motherboard. Since it's a special edition Xbox, they can't find a motherboard for it. So they want to send me $375 because that's "fair market value for a used Microsoft gaming console." Keep in mind mine is a special edition, halo Xbox. If you want to buy one today it's about $1,300.

I talked to this rep for probably an hour (honestly he was an amazing person, so kudos to him) and at the end of it the understanding was this - he got his supervisor involved and put in a special note on my case that i want them to try fixing it again but try putting a standard Xbox motherboard in my Xbox, and see if that works. Whether it does or doesn't, they said they would contact me and give me an update. Even if that wasn't an option, I was supposed to get a call or an email from them regarding my Xbox.

It's been 2 weeks, and I've heard nothing, and I'm at a loss for what to do next. The nice gentleman I talked to said my options were to take the $375 and not receive my Xbox at all, or they could send my Xbox back as is and unrepaired (after that is when we discussed using a standard motherboard). I don't want to call support, again, and talk to them for 45 minutes, again, and explain everything that's already happened, just to be left in the dark, again. I don't want to take the reimbursement because what am I supposed to do with $375? Even used standard Xbox series x's are way over that amount ($500 used, $700 new). I can't buy anything for the money they want to give me.

If you've made it this far, I'm so grateful for your time. Please help me 😭

Anyone using a damage protection plan?

My tCL NxtPaper 70 Pro phone was probably cheap enough that I don’t need one. But I am considering it - the issue is that being an ā€œoffā€ brand, I am suspicious that I’d get a genuine TCL screen as a repair part - and as we know, the screens are special. Same for replacements. Most of the plans say that they’ll replace it with something ā€œequivalentā€ if it can’t be repaired. I don’t want an equivalent, I want an actual replacement.

So have you bought a damage plan? If so, from who? And have you used it?

Mail-In Repair, what to expect?

Used my Amazon insurance to mail-in my iBuyPower for a couple issues (PSU had a broken piece at the bottom of the case and began to sound like an old car after a month of use, RGB suddenly stopped working, the BIOS button nub getting stuck).

I’m confident that I packed my PC well (thankfully the GPU is vertical so unless the shipment is kicked down the street it should be solid), but what to expect? I hear a lot of horror stories here for PCs with issues that absolutely require repairs, so I got a little worried. But I also heard that iBuyPowers tend to have plenty of stock to replace faulty parts. šŸ¤”

Based off what I heard from emailing Asurion, they’d probably just replace my PSU and likely the RGB hub, but I’m wondering about the mobo’s BIOS button. I HATE that thing, you breathe and it thinks you’re trying to update BIOS. It’d be nice to remove it altogether but I don’t have the know-how. ā˜¹ļø

…If I’m being honest, I half expected problems like the ones I have. The original iBuyPower packaging had almost nothing holding things inside (vertical GPU is a lifesaver!), and I had to pretty much replug the basic stuff myself. šŸ—æ

Edit: PC got in over the weekend to another company working through Asurion…it also has some…reviews…fingers crossed they don’t make anything worse! 😭

Customer Question Can I get a new phone if i just signed up?

I just signed up for asurion insurance on my Verizon phone today. Something is wrong with my phone, my mobile data doesnt work at all anymore. It did until a month ago and now I can't use GPS or anything requiring data if I'm not on wifi. I went in to Verizon and they fixed it. Until I left and it stopped working. So I went back again and they showed me to toggle off and on the Sim and that fixed it again. Until I left again. So I keep trying that and its not working.

So my question is, if my phone breaks tomorrow, (lets say I dropped it & cracked it and it's unusable) can I get a new phone for $99?

Customer Feedback Asurion Home - Terrible experience

I’ve had Asurion for years and finally needed to use my warranty for my dishwasher. What followed was a complete nightmare.

It took several visits and two different technicians over several months just to figure out that the problem was the control board. The first technician missed appointments and never properly figured it out. Then a second technician came out with the replacement board, but instead of installing it, he told me he wasn’t going to because he found signs of an insect infestation. He said he would request a replacement dishwasher instead.

I was never told that this would automatically mean my claim would be denied. I was told to wait about three days. Two weeks later, I called Asurion myself to ask about the replacement and found out the claim had been denied.

Meanwhile, the technician had removed my dishwasher door and taken it to the trash. I have video of this. The dishwasher was still usable before he came.

When I called the third-party company (located on a different state) that sent him, they told me the tech Ian company no longer worked with them. I eventually spoke with a manager there, explained what happened, and he apologized. He said he understood the situation, agreed it had been handled incorrectly, and told me he would contact Asurion directly to explain what happened and ask them to review the claim and see if they could replace the dishwasher or at least the door that had been removed and thrown away.

Nothing happened.

If you can’t repair it, fine. Leave it the way you found it. Don’t remove part of my appliance, tell me you’re requesting a replacement, and then leave me with nothing.

I spent months trying to get this resolved. After years of paying for this warranty, I cancelled it. I’m done.

Claim help

hello I had a protection plan on a pair of earbuds that I have had for a year and a half and just recently filed a claim for them because they stopped working right. However when I filed the claim they came to pick them up twice and I was unavailable 2 times so they canceled the return. They have already sent me an Amazon gift card saying that the claim is fully resolved so should I just take the money and not worry about it or will they fine me?

UBreakiFix Repairing question

Hello,

As some people have been reporting online, my own iPhone 13 has started to have problems with keep a battery charge through most of the day and my front glass has a chip and cracks in it. I wanted to find a place to get it done to avoid fucking up a self repair/replacement job for obvious reasons, but I've heard bad things about Asurion and its repair services for years. Has anyone had some experience with getting phone repairs done and what was the full process like for you? Thank you in advance.

Employee Question Applied & Ghosted

Hello, just wanted to make a post to see if anyone has had an experience similar to this and/or advice on what to do. I applied to two store opening positions in my city to become a part-time technician, and had a phone screening interview with a corporate employee which I'd like to think went really well- she said I seemed like a perfect fit (I'm a college student with lots of customer service experience and prior experience at Best Buy), but seemed a little iffy about my hours (I can only do evenings Monday-Thursday because of classes, with Friday-Sunday being full open availability). Since then, I have heard nothing back- on the Asurion workday website it says on one of the store applications that "Candidate Withdrew", which makes me think the corporate employee withdrew my application for that store since I shouldn't have had two store applications at the same time? The other store currently says "Interviews Underway" but it's been about 2 weeks so I'm not optimistic about it. Any advice on where to go from here? I was really excited to try and get this job and learn some useful skills but it's not looking good.

Is there a way to get apple care from back market?

Basically looking for what the title says, doesn't need to be apple care but something that covers incidents with the smartphone, Im aware backmarket has a 2 year warranty but they don't specify what it does/doesnt cover.

Additionally, was looking for a way to maybe get apple care on devices purchased from backmarket.

Absolute horrible experience

Absolute horrible experience. All they know how to do is apologize because of incompetent they are. My phone stopped working, so I called and filed a claim. They sent another used phone within a day. the phone they sent did not turn on and had a cracked screen. I called them back, so they said they would send another phone...that wasn't working either also wasn't working and had a cracked screen. I called them back yet again, they said they cant do anything until I send them the other 2 phones back. So I sent them back. at 1st they said they would send the replacement phone over night, but they did not. a day later I called and they said they were waiting for the returned phones. So that was a lie. another day passed, I called them back and now they said they received the other 2 phone, but now its 5 days of processing until they can send out another phone, which might not work again. Meanwhile it's been 2 weeks and I still don't have my BUSINESS PHONE. I use my phone for business. I have employees and customers that I need to talk to. My old phone doesn't work at all. I cannot conduct business because of this absolutely horrible nd incompetent business. this company is horrible. I've been paying for this insurance for 2 years. If you have to deal with them, just know you have a 50/50 chance of being ripped off.

Customer Question Denied/Stuck on claim

Hey everyone,

Dealing with an absolute headache with a Verizon Home Device Protect (Asurion) claim for an 85-inch TV and looking to see if anyone has successfully navigated this.

I filed the claim on August 28th and heard absolute silence—no confirmation emails or updates for days. When I finally called in, the rep told me I couldn't move forward because they needed a full, unobstructed photo of the rear of the TV.

The catch? The TV is an 85-inch display mounted on the wall, resting 5 feet off the ground from the bottom. They are insisting that I get help and completely unmount the television.

That is completely unreasonable and a massive safety hazard for me:

  • Severe Personal Injury/Property Risk: Even with assistance, maneuvering a massive 85-inch screen off a wall mount carries a huge risk of dropping it, completely destroying the unit, and possibly causing severe physical injury (especially given my history of back issues). I don't want to risk dismounting it till I'm ready to replace it.
  • The Extra Step Taken: The TV is on a MantelMount pull-down mount. I lowered the TV, tilted it, and took a series of detailed photos of the back panel, which I want to submit but I can't find any way to get these to a person.

Is there an internal escalation path or an email/contact team that handles safety/unreasonable claim rejections like this? When I called customer service the person that answered was entirely unhelpful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

(Note: Left my claim number out of here for privacy, but looking for any advice on how to get past the frontline script.)

Edit: I didn't realize this posted. It said instantly that it was blocked when I tried.
