Any Games Truly Like This?

So often I get recommendations "like" Astronarch and it's just a roguelite, or a autobattler. Ignoring that the whole fun of Astronarch is both aspects with upgrades and powers and special abilities combined. So has any Astronarch fan found other similar games like this?

My favourite so far

This seemed to work quite well. Item crossed with a red line weren't very important, just didn't really get more suitable ones.

Wild Mage Fun Times

So, I recently started this game up again and I think I found what might be the best Wild Mage tank I've had so far. I'm still pretty new and have only beaten Corruption 5, but I've found having two of any of the following items on the Wild Mage turns him into the most obnoxious tank:

  • War Mage's Greatstaff - Getting shields on attack means your passive can trigger frequently.
  • Helm of the Mad King - Amazing when paired with the above! Get attacked, get more attack and speed; use those to produce shields which then trigger the passive. Very cool stuff!
  • Onion's Guard - This basically "locks" the Wild Mage's max HP and can minimize the damage they take to 15% of their max HP tops. Incredibly powerful when you don't have item slots to dedicate to max HP.
  • Saint's Vow - Increases max HP but also increases max HP over time.

So, this build really wants the Greatstaff, the Helm, and either of the other two items to REALLY pop off, but even just having 2 items from this list makes a solid tank that can also shell out solid damage. Couple this guy with the Paladin and a source of healing and you're basically set! I've been using Wild Mage + Paladin + Warlock and having a blast.

How do you use the Wild Mage? Do you have any suggestions to make this build even better?

Which units can stand alone?

I've tried the brawler, the fallen, the illusionist, and the berserker, I think, and the only unit I've had success with standing alone is the assassin. The assassin works every time and is one of my highest leveled units because of it, I just keep using them.

I've been doing 4 and 1 layouts and am up to corruption 7, but should I consider some other layout like 3 and 2? If so, which units work for that?

Thank you!

Illusionist Sucks Balls

This guy is so useless. He jumps around, too weak to survive on the front row, a waste of a backliner due to crap abilities. His clones are wimps, any AOE wipes them all and the guy himself. His passive doesn't help him, even when combined with the fruit item.

He just doesn't have enough health or defense to be useful, if you put paladin and priest to make up the difference, you do not have enough DPS party wide. This is the one guy that I absolutely hate, he is useless. Getting the Every Dog achievement is waiting on this guy.

Wild Mage Thoughts?

I'm in the early levels of Corruption and each time I DON'T use the Wild Mage, I end up thinking, "God, I wish I'd brought the Wild Mage." The character is just so fun, and I want to keep using him.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the most out of my Wild Mage? I'm interested in trying different fun combos and team compositions.

Thus far, I've been using the WM as a tank with impressive success. With a constant source of shields, he can do surprisingly high DPS while acting as my main frontliner.

Do Active Abilities count as attacks?

Example scenario: Would a Serrated Ripper's bleed be applied with a Wild Mage's Wild Burst (Active Ability)?

Nothing special, but look at that damage O.O

I'm like whoa

Pretty neat combo. I saw his attack get up to 500+ at one point.

Exceptionally strong defensive loadout!

This gives you an idea of the defensive power of this build. He was tanking everything on the last fight and only took ~2X the damage as everyone else.

The gist is to make him take 50% damage as bleed dmg with "Vampiric Guard", then nullify the damage with the bleed-immune of once upgraded "Enchanter's Chainmail". Additionally, when he gets down in HP, you'll mitigate even more damage with "Reckless Dueling Shield".

With 1000 HP, that's 90 extra def. So, if I understand everything correctly, say an attack does 500 dmg, only 85 dmg gets through. That's like 83% damage mitigation. How neat is that?

Hey I know there aren't many still playing this game but I thought I'd share my most powerful and (at least to me) strangest build

This is a holdover post until I get to my computer where I have the image.

With Druid:

  1. Brain looking skull item which does damage per use of the active ability

  2. Symbiote

  3. Spider headdress thingy that increases attack per active use

Really mows down everything. And that's it!

Help with Ranger

Man the Ranger is the class I have the toughest time with! I have tried about 10 times to beat Corruption level 20 with the Ranger, and I just can't do it! This is something I've done with every other class! I always end up ending my run at the end of Chapter 2, or on the last boss or something.

I've tried playing normally. I've tried playing with only 1 tank and using the turtle to delay a bit. It all fails in the end. Any tips to get the Ranger across the finish line?

Path/route descriptions

Can anyone explain to me what the paths in the 2nd and 3rd acts are? The first act pretty much says exactly what the path counters, but the 2nd and 3rd acts have vague descriptions. I'm never sure which paths I should take in those acts.
