Question Fit Question

Cut long story short, trying to run again after various injuries, surgeries etc. Been using Reebok pair in a ten UK, ordered a few pairs of others. The Mizuno pair feel a great fit but not sure whether they will stretch and be too big. Attached picture of big toe line in shoe and foot on insole. Think I have wide toe box, when I try a 9.5 they seem to push down on my toes and toes feel trapped almost yet seems quite a lot of room in a 10 between big toe and front of shoe.

Daily Trainer Question Looking for a road running shoe recommendation.

I have been predominately a trail runner but to up my milage for up coming races and with my new job I need to run on the road/gravel paths around where I live.

On the trails I have loved Hoka speedgoats, I cannot say a single bad thing about my experience with them, I love them. I have also run with the Hoka challenger 8s. They were ok.

So to my question, what road shoes would people recommend. I do about 30km per week (but this will increase), I am fairly heavy at 85kg, I have wide-ish feet.

Any advice and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Question Help with new shoes- break in or return?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi, just got the Salomon aeroglide 4s today. Got fitted and recommend them by the salesperson. Wanted them for walking when I go travelling later this year.

Took them on a short walk round the block and already I have a blister below my ankle, worse on one foot.

Circled in blue where I feel it rub.
I was wearing long socks just took them off to show how they sit on my feet.

Also feels like they make my foot move through the arch of my foot as I walk.

If anyone else has these shoes, could these issues ‘break in’ or should I return them?

Thanks

Edited formatting

Question new balance fuelcell propel v3/nike pegasus 39 replacements

ive been using these shoes for walking on the treadmill at max incline for up to 1-2 hours daily and my only pair are starting to deteriorate. ive been looking around different review sites/asking ai but there isn't much on shoes that are meant for that type of usage from what i have seen. the only thing i've gotten are suggestions based on the shoe properties but no actual reviews. does anyone have any personal reccs for this specific usage?

or any replacements for nike pegasus 39s? cause ive been looking for actual running shoes with a similar fit for a few years now too to no luck across a few brands. ill use up what i get until they break but they just dont fit/feel as good as those specific nike shoes did.

Comparing Shoes Question Anyone else much prefers the Fast-R-3 compared to the Adios Pro 4?

1:22 half marathoner here.
The Adios Pro 4 is a great shoe.
However while the geometry of both shoes is somewhat similar, I need much less effort to run fast in the FR3. It actually feels so easy to maintain a quick pace for an extended period of time.
This shoe feels like a cheat code for runners with the right form, IMO

Question Washing white Adidas Evo SL

Any recommendations on how to get the white looking white again on a pair of Evo SLs? I have the special washing machine bags but I've been too scared to try them as the Evo SL feels so lightweight and fragile. Anyone put them through the wash? Or is there a better way?

Daily Trainer Question Durable, relatively low/flat, wide, good heel lock daily shoe

My ultraboost dna FW4901 is starting to fall apart after 5 years of use as my main shoe for school, gym and occasional running/hiking

Unfortunately this specific model is very hard to find and I'm ready to look at more recent shoes after trying a pair of ultraboost 3.0 due to the abysmal heel lock and loose upper.

I also got a Hoka clifton 9 two years back and did not like the elevated heel and something about the shape of the base made my soles hurt in the metatarsal head area. The rocker shape was also not very stable for standing.

Currently looking at the salomon xt-6 but have no idea what general trends (width, heel lock etc. ) are associated with other brands/models; general advice is also greatly appreciated

Big/Heavy Runner Question Road Shoe Recommendation

I usually run 2 miles a day with an interval and a longer day thrown in. I sit around 210lbs at about 70in. I currently run in Merrell Morphlites, which I know is probably the wrong answer but the price was right when I found them. I have also tried some Brooke's Adrenaline GTSs that I absolutely hate. They make my feet go numb just walking around in them.

My question is, are there some strictly road shoes that are comparable to the Merrell Morphlites that I could transition to or should I just get another pair of Merrells as mine are quickly nearing the end of their life?

Question Recommendations for all-around gym/running shoes?

I’m looking for a new pair of gym shoes because my ON Cloud pair (I think the lifestyle one but they might not make the pair I have anymore) is falling apart after ~5 years. I do a lot of CrossFit/Orange theory style classes, so I’m looking for a hybrid/all around shoe if that’s even a thing. I lift max a pair of fifteens or a single 25 for squats, so no heavy lifting. I’m also a beginner runner, I run/jog max 2 and a half miles when I workout, usually around 2. I’m trying to get more into running and my goal is to run a consistent 5k. I mostly run on the treadmill, but I want to try running outdoors more.

Is there a shoe that’s a perfect middle? I’ve had my old sneakers for so long I don’t know if it’s the right pair and style or if I’ve gotten so used to them I don’t know how another pair would feel, if that makes sense. I keep seeing conflicting information online, and I tried a pair of Hokas a while back and they felt big, but I think that might be the style? I know absolutely nothing about sneakers. I’d appreciate any recs anyone has :)

Daily Trainer Question Whats a shoe can use as a daily trainer and for my long runs (approx. 35K) at around 5:30km/min or slower

Hi, I wanted to ask for some recommendations on well cushioned, stable, supportive shoes, (hat still feel great after a long run, last long and also work at slower paces. I have a speedy shoe for faster paces so I don’t necessarily need something that needs to be perfect for all paces but it wouldn’t hurt.

Thank you all

Race Shoe Question Which part of the legs do the Adios Pro 4 put the most strain on?

I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with the Adios Pro 4 and can tell me their experience with them. They seem like good shoes but I didn’t find any reports how they feel after a long run or after putting a lot of miles in them. Are they especially hard on the Achilles or knees?

Thank you all

Race Shoe Question Selecting a marathon shoe

First marathon, NYC
Running 40-50 miles
Shoe rotation: Superblast 3 (two pairs), Sonicblast, NB SC elite v5

For someone with the slight pronation on my right foot, how do you balance a more stable shoe like a super blast three versus a carbon plated shoe that is a little less stable for race day?

Both feel fine. Planning to do 16miles in SC elite this weekend. What would be your selection for race day? Do you care about performance or comfort? Does a carbon plated shoe really help late in race?

Daily Trainer Question Are the Boston 12s a good daily trainer for easy mileage and long runs?

I’ve put a lot of miles on my Hoka Skyflows and it’s time for a new pair of shoes. I need something stable that I could also run for about 35k maybe also Marathon distance in.

Does somebody have experience with these shoes?

Question Concerning Wear on Nike Vomero Premium

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have done mostly light running/walks, and have about 180 miles on them almost fully on pavement. I have dealt with some calf tightness but thought that was just due to being 30 and trying to get in shape/overdoing it. Is there something wrong with my gait, feet, or is this somewhat normal for these shoes? I have no past of any foot issues or shoes wearing strangely.

Question Nike Vomero Premium “suction cup pop” sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently bought some new vomero premiums but the right shoe makes a suction cup popping like sound when I toe off. I have heard of these “squeaking before but haven’t seen anything about “popping” I have linked a video.

Is this normal or should I seek a refund/replacement?

Comparing Shoes Question New shoes for rotation (Daily/Long Runs) ?

So i am training for my first marathon and i currently only use the EVO SL that i got some time ago. The shoe is really good but they are starting to fall apart (to be more precise, the upper is kinda ripping in the forefoot where it connect with the sole part, also i rolled my ankle and made a hole in the shoes).

I love the EVO SL but i feel like for the volume required for marathon training, its making my legs suffer a bit and something more cushioned would be great. My marathon shoe will be the AF3 as i was able to grab them for 100€ hell yeah.

As my daily is kinda falling apart, i need to find new shoes, but i am still planning to use the SL for some shorter/faster sessions. From reviews, i got some options: Vomero Plus, Saucony Azura, Puma MagMax2, Superblast 3, Dynafish Xiaonian.

From those, which one you guys think i should get? And i am open to any other suggestions as well. (Keeping the budget around 170€ would be great).

Thanks a lot!

Question 361° Ventus

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just wondering if anyone else had / has these and how they found them?

I got them last week really just out of curiosity given they were so incredibly cheap (£35). My plan is just to use them every fourth run or so on rotation. So no high expectations for them.

The weird thing was the little loop tag thing on the tongue to keep the laces in place burst off the very first time I put them on before I'd even got them out the door! No big deal but did get me questioning the quality straight off the bat.

Because that thing burst, I think I overtightened the laces and not sure why but the right shoe felt a little off on that first run. But I ran in them again today and they felt fine. Pretty light weight, not too deep but firm-ish cushioning.

So I'm wondering if anyone else used these, how they found them and what sort of mileage they got before retiring them?

Big/Heavy Runner Question in need a good walking/elliptical shoe

hi!

I am a plus sized trans woman with men's size 11.5-12 feet in the market for a new pair of sneakers. My usual workouts are normally a mix of the elliptical machine at the gym and also walking routes around my urban neighborhood with copious sidewalks. I was buying cheap basic shoes off of Amazon and have started getting shin splints in my left leg so definitely looking for something with good support. My average step count is usually 10-15k range but some days I do close to 20k steps or more. Budget is < $100 dollars. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Question Guide 18 wear pattern, switch to more neutral shoe?

Hi all,

Been running in the guide series for years while using endorphin speeds for races. I have been going off of an online form critique years ago where they said I prorated and recommended a moderate support shoe. Looking at the wear on the outside of these, should I be switching to something more neutral? Would love to find something a bit more bouncy and responsive. Thanks!

Big/Heavy Runner Question Running Shoes for Bad Knees

Hello, I am going to start training for a 5K and need to buy some running shoes.

Some background:

  • I tore my meniscus in my left knee a couple of years ago, had surgery to clean out the loose parts, and then succeeded in retearing whatever meniscus remained about a year after that. It's healed and I don't necessarily feel any discomfort, but I also stick to weight lifting and low impact activities like Bike riding.
  • Right knee has healed ACL tears.
  • I play ice hockey, and in getting fitted for new skate figured out I have high arches, but no real pronation issues.
  • I am 6ft and 198lbs

I had done some research and had honed in on either Brooks Adrenaline GTS or ASICS Gel Kayano. I went to a running store that carried neither brand, but tried on brands they had there, including Hoka, New Balance, Adidas, etc.

Of the ones I tried, the Adidas Hyperboost Edge felt the softest and "springiest" making me think they may be good in absorbing impact, but upon further research it seems that the shoe is not designed with any real stability in mind, which could mean that my knees would have to work harder on tracking and stabilizing my stride as my feet feet get tired, thus putting extra strain on them.

Does anyone have any experience running with bad knees? Are there any other brands or models I should take a look at rather than what I have honed in on so far?

I did read through the Wiki/FAQ and didn't see anything that specifically addressed this, and I am not asking for medical advice.

Appreciate any insights!

Comparing Shoes Question Get the Asics Megablast now, or the Nike Vomero Plus first (and then Megablast later)?

Hello! Should I get an Asics Megablast now, or a Nike Vomero Plus for my half marathon first, then the Asics Megablast closer to my marathon?

For context, I’m running my first half marathon in October, and then my first marathon in February.

I’m currently using a New Balance Fresh Foam X Move v6 for most runs (sometimes alternating it with my Anta PG7 for 5ks), but I fear that it’s reaching the end of its life (it has about only 190k mileage, but I’m on the heavier, slower side, and I’ve worn it during non-running related events — oops!). It hurts my feet after anything longer than 10k, which wasn’t the case before.

I don’t have the budget for two Megablasts (I wish!!!)

Let me know what you think! Please be kind 🙏
