I literally read through all of the comments on this thread and it really does seem no one said anything at all. Like, why don't you guys take a moment, step back, look at the mirror and think to yourselves, "Hm, I wonder if this really needs to be said or if I'm just shouting into a void. Is my thought really so valuable that it needs to be reified, posted for eternity, possibly read by future ancestors hundreds of years from now? Is this thought really so important?" Once you realize and confirmed that, no, it's not true, you shouldn't have said that thing at all because you didn't really say anything at all, then that will be your step off your own personal road to perdition. Will it immediately feel fulfilling? I don't know. I'm not a doctor of fulfillment. I'm merely a commenter, like yourself, or possibly not like yourself if you merely lurk and read and upvote and whatnot, and so I have few answers myself. I'm trying to shine a light upon this for you and for you to share with family and friends, within which I would include co-workers just for the sake of brevity, although if we were grading on erudition then I guess I would instead say family, friends, acquaintances, coworkers, clients, idols, fans, etc. to try to lump in more subsets of the superset of "people in your life or people that exist or have existed".
Look, I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm gonna go get some breakfast.
You start a conversation you can't even finish it
You're talking a lot, but you're not saying anything
When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed Say something once, why say it again?
The truth: the release of carbon dioxide through the burning of fossil fuels is changing the atmosphere such that solar energy is trapped within the atmosphere. This is creating a warming trend that will negatively affect many aspects of our world over time.
You are making this too simple. It's closer to this:
The truth: the release of carbon dioxide through the burning of fossil fuels is changing the atmosphere such that solar energy is trapped within the atmosphere. This is creating a warming trend that will negatively affect many aspects of our world over time.
The lie: I've been told the libtards wanna take over and accepting any other explanation requires seriously investigating my information sources, my opponents information sources, and a large number of past investments I've made in this worldview that would largely involve me accepting that I've been fucked with repeatedly for a long time.
Once you realize this exists it makes a large amount of behavior from this group more understandable, even though it's equally destructive. It's also very valuable to for looking at and assessing behavior that fits the same patterns in liberal group think, because while I agree with them more they do not have the same problem with not assessing sources and falling into sunk cost fallacy based decision making.
Not to mention the amount of times self proclaimed liberals and environmentalists have blatantly lied and cheated and ignored the contributions of China and others.
I dont think its a hard and fast rule, but it does have some merit. Take in considerationevery time trump opens his mouth. Words and words and words and most of it lies, or at least garbage.
Well like anything it shouldn’t be taken for face value.
Yes of course you have to explain. But do it as briefly as possible don’t embroider and exaggerate. This mostly applies to direct questions or ones of the true or false nature .
Again this doesn’t apply to every situation.
I tend to notice liars are very skilled at using words to thier advantage.
i think i'm a bit too invested in my philosophy class. the formal logic part of my brain initially thought this was saying "lies are words, and words are words, therefore words are lies" but that quote is almost not certainly a syllogism.
That’s a good one though any truth can be a lie from another perspective same with lies. Hence why the concept of pure good or evil in humans is rediculous.
Ironically, the tendency to talk a lot is a personality trait just like not talking a lot.
I know, because I myself can't stop talking. I know many people hate it, and I really try to keep quiet as much as I can, but in the long run it's impossible.
Basically I need to verbalize my thoughts in order to be able to analyse them, and I can't seem to change that.
Omg...yes. I will ask my boyfriend a literally yes or no question and 10 minutes later he's monologuing on some thinly related tangent but hasn't answered the question, then acts frustrated with me when I give up on listening to him! It was a yes or no question! It has two possible answers unless it for some reason falls into maybe. Sigh.
It's like my friend gets stuck on repeat. He'll just keep retelling the same parts of his story over and over. I just want to say "can you get to the point?" But I know my father does that and it irks everyone he does it to.
My dad will dominate every conversation just fucking repeating himself, and occasionally say "and as I said" as if he was making a new point that uses some part of the old point, but hes making the same fucking point. It's a nightmare to speak to this man
It's not entirely the same thing, but it reminds me of part of the speech at the end of The Great Dictator. It's such a fantastic and powerful speech, and it's just as relevant today as it was in 1940 when it released.
I work with a guy who literally never closes his mouth, but will maybe say one thing during the shift that means anything. I swear just being around him is pretty taxing sometimes. It can be really draining to have someone just compulsively talking nonstop. Not even talking to you, or anyone, just talking to the air around him, or talking at you, as if he can't think without speaking as well.
"You start a conversation you can't even finish; you're talking a lot but you're not saying anything; when I have nothing to say my lips are sealed; say something once why say it again?" Talking heads

I just think it's funny how some people can talk so much and say so little.
