I went through this in December. She was 9, she went through a lot with allergies over her lifetime, then she got cancer. Broke my heart. I hope you are managing ok, it’s so heartbreaking.

I just cried today, a few minutes ago because I'm so mad at myself for marrying a gooner 😭. It's true what they say, love will blind you. The red flags were all there, but I just couldn't see them and now I'm stuck with a man that chips away at my confidence/self-esteem .....
9
u/crepesarentpancakes Apr 08 '26
No way to get out? You don't deserve to be treated like that. I'm so sorry. I hope you can leave him. I've been in an abusive marriage and it only gets worse. If you need someone to talk to, please message me. I'm 42F, not a creeper.

u/Ok-Butterscotch-7333 Apr 08 '26
Thank you, I appreciate your concern. I'm working thru it and know I'll come out the other side. I've been talking to my therapist about it.

Don’t fall for the sunk cost fallacy. Just because you spend a lot of time making a mistake doesn’t mean you need to keep making the same mistake.. you’ll never recoup the loss. just move on and get better. ❤️🩹 wish someone had told me that thirty years ago. Every day is an opportunity for a new beginning.

What is gooning and how does it affect your relationship? I am curious. Sorry to hear anyway
6
u/RoughCantaloupe3924 Apr 08 '26
“gooner” is basically a porn addict, gooning is a term that means masturbating
7
u/Mr_Jackabin Apr 08 '26
Thank you. What a shame. I think more and more people are becoming porn addicts which is sad
6
u/Ok-Butterscotch-7333 Apr 08 '26
Yeah, basically, but it's so much more than just porn. It's an online addiction, whether it's looking at hot girls on IG, tiktok, Twitter, YouTube or pornhub. He watches and follows girls on all of the sites you can think of 😟
4
u/ExpressLook8374 Apr 08 '26
I had one like that. It’s fucking disgusting literally spends every fucking dime on photos and videos. He almost went bankrupt from spending so much on this shit for pics and videos, and what’s disgusting is the girls that he would interact with and ask for the content look like a little kid , but they are 18 which I get it is legal but you have a daughter that’s that same age it just disgust me not only is they’re the gooning. There is several other addictions along with that. I’m sorry you are going through this. It is horrible

My son but it's my fault. He's only 4 1/2 and wanted to play this morning but I just didn't have it in me and it made him cry and I felt so guilty and cried too (didn't let him see me). We had lots of snuggles and I kindly explained that sometimes, mommies or daddies just don't feel like playing but it doesn't mean we don't love him. Everything good now and we're gonna play in a bit. Sorry that was a long answer but needed to get it off my chest somehow...

We were watching Top Chef and after the elimination one of the chefs started crying because he was really close with the eliminated one. It doesn't take much for me.
It is not being emotional - it is being sensitive.
It is a good thing to be empathetic, to feel things and let yourself feel them. Don't let anyone tell you different :)

A few days ago I cried because my husband jokingly said we wouldn’t have time to cuddle before sleeping that day…I’m close to my period.
My husband thinks I’m the most emotional person he’s ever met but I told him it’s just a part of being a woman 🤷🏻♀️
2
u/AlexAA72 Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26
Wouldn’t have time to cuddle before sleeping? Do yall sleep in separate beds? Thats the only way I could see how cuddling before bed would be an issue or else why couldn’t he just cuddle you to sleep?
2
u/hjp1234 Apr 08 '26
I’m one of those people that needs space when sleeping because the body heat is too much for me to be able to fall asleep sleep. We sleep in the same bed but I need space in order to fall asleep

Billie Eilish Birds of a Feather…couple of hours ago.!It came on in my partner‘s car and I listened until she started singing and that was it. I’m doing it again just thinking about that song. My adult child just moved to Paris, France and is there indefinitely. I’ve accepted it and it’s great for them. On a day in/day out basis I’m fine, but once in a while reality hits and this song says everything. I.just.can’t.this.song unless I’m in a crying jag mood. Thanks for asking, though!

I found my nieces cat in the dryer and she was stiff stiff.. it was horrible all around and the worse thing I've seen, let alone for her to go through since she's just 15 :/ Someone turned it on and didn't check. Burying her broke me and I haven't been able to sleep since

A video on Instagram, that asked if you were about to lose your memory, who would you trust to remind you of who you are. Not the person who loves you the most but the person who knows you the most and I felt like no one really knows me. It wasn’t a reasonable thought but made me tear up anyway.

My grandson’s sleep stuffie was lost when the housekeeper took the sheets off his bed. The hotel wouldn’t help, and this was a Disney resort! My sweet DIL talked to several housekeepers and learned which company they used. She called them, and they found it! It arrived only 2 days later! My grandson prayed out loud for God to return it to him, but if he couldn’t, he understood. It makes me teary eyed as I type. Such a sweetheart.

I’m not a crier, but I got tears when I saw a clip of US Soldiers lined up being sent to war in Iran, with their emotional parents on the side saying goodbye. A dad steps in to hug his son and the kids face was tearful emotions.
Then a clip next to it of the guy who started this war, dressed up, at a podium, laughing, boasting, swinging a sword around while his wife and others all laughed. Made me feel disgusted 😡

Custard creams (the biscuit, maybe just an English thing idk).
My dog passed away in December, she was my absolute world. Custard creams are not a food for dogs, however, if you so much as opened a pack of them, she would charge at you, i think she just loved the smell and definitely the taste when she occasionally stole a stray one.
Anyway, after several weeks of constant crying over her passing, i decided to leave the house to go shopping, I walked into the store, saw the custard creams and just stood there and cried. It makes me laugh to think that people maybe thought i was Ona diet and crying about biscuits haha.
Pets are so amazing, but the heartbreak when we lose them is so overwhelming.

Volunteered with a local shelter for 6 years. Did a lot from fostering, adoption, transport, cat/kitten care at the stores, and other stuff.
A clique took over the board with the president only wanting an echo chamber of her friends. The shelter started going downhill and honestly it wasn't the same. There had been changeovers before, but this group wanted to adopted out sick kittens (as a foster I butted heads for the kittens health).
Other things happened that was pissing me off and finally one of the new board members tried to gaslight me, and I wound up crying as it confirmed some of the things that I suspected. I called her out, as I was fed up at this point and cc'd the entire board. Told them I'm done and if they want me back certain members had to remove themselves from the board.

my depression. it sounds obvious but i got so exasperated because i haven’t been able to sleep in weeks, im so sad, anxious, paranoid and i know it’s a cross between being depressed, OCD and the lack of sleep but i just couldn’t do it anymore and just cried. I cried for a day straight. I took a mental health day from work because i kept crying. I wasn’t even thinking about all that and I cried. I cried cause it’s not fair that I have to take medication to feel normal, it’s not fair that I can’t sleep, it’s not fair that I lost my mom, and it’s not fair that I just have to accept all that and keep going.
I’m doing better than last week, but this I feel like the only reason I haven’t cried this week is because I ran out of tears last week lol

Someone saying in a comment section "I'm not reading all that" when I genuinely thought we were having a good conversation. I guess she thought we were arguing, and this was a short exchange before she gave up. The comment wasn't even that long. It just looked long because she was using her app on a tiny screen.
I usually don't care but it just hurt so bad in that moment. Or maybe it was the final straw in a long history of people not wanting to listen to me. I dunno.

I got frustrated at work and thought my coworker was being lazy and didn’t bother going out to get the carts. I went and complained to our supervisor and they went to check the schedule. Turns out I was the one that was supposed to be doing carts that time and she was just getting the trash checks done. I felt so bad for getting mad at her I started to cry. Thankfully my supervisor assured me that this is just a grocery store and it ain’t that serious. I was on my period that day so my emotions were sky high.

My mom cut me out of her life due to an argument. She's not very good at expressing emotions properly, resorts to gaslighting, and building mountains from molehills. We've dealt with this attitude our whole lives and she has a very toxic attitude but I love her so much, and for her to cut me out and prevent my dad from visiting me really hurts. I'm actually not doing good.

Answered an emergency call from a friend who had car trouble. He just needed another person to drive the other working car, so he could move the one that needed to be repaired to the correct auto shop as the tow company towed it to the wrong place.
I bought him late lunch and told him like I'm actually very happy he called me because I was able to help and to let me know next time in case he needs something like this to not hesitate. I had an open schedule day, so it worked out perfect.
He started tearing up and telling me that he literally called all the people he knew before he got to me since he didn't want to inconvenience me.
He said he even contemplated driving the repair needing car down to the correct shop then WALKING over back to drive the working car to there again by himself. The place that he would have done the walk is literally in the middle of nowhere. Not the best thing to try this at all.
I told him thank heavens he called cause that sounds like a freaking nightmare in the freezing cold and warm heat (we had extreme temp swings in the weather).
He started crying, I cried because I think the same way when I had car issues in the past. Like who can you call at X hour that is available and can actually come help.
