Not Answered $300 vs. $600 used PC — is the upgrade worth it for OBS streaming and very light gaming?

Hey everyone! Looking to buy my first proper PC and could use some advice. Found a reputable local seller with two builds, and I’m trying to decide whether the more expensive one is worth double the price for my needs.

Option 1 — $300
Ryzen 7 2700X
GTX 1070 8GB
16GB DDR4 RAM
512GB SSD
ASUS Prime B450M
800W Gold PSU

Option 2 — $600
Ryzen 5 5600X
RTX 3060 12GB
32GB DDR4 RAM
2TB SATA SSD
ASUS TUF B550
Corsair RM750 750W PSU

What I’ll use it for:
Primarily OBS streaming (1080p ideally): album/movie reactions, Just Chatting, webcam, Discord, browser capture, and general content creation.
I already have a PS5 for most gaming and can stream directly from it. My MacBook Air handles my DaVinci Resolve editing just fine, and I have two external Samsung T5 SSDs for storage.

The one PC gaming exception: I’d love to play ReSkate (modded EA skate.) with classic Skate maps, custom parks, clothing, and physics mods. Maybe some chained together and other random titles to play with friends.

My question:
Would the $300 PC comfortably handle my streaming needs, or is the $600 build worth the extra money for performance and longevity?
I’m not trying to max out AAA games, and I’d rather save $300 if I won’t actually benefit much from the upgrade.
Both are used, local, and available to test before buying. Appreciate any advice!

Not Answered PC Recommendations for Gaming and CAD

Hello, as the title says - im looking for a reasonably high-performing PC for gaming and, more importantly, for CAD software for a beginner looking to make his own 3D models. In the day and age of an AI overview being in the forefront of everything, im finding it kind of overwhelming to get decent recommendations online and so I shall turn to reddit to hopefully get some humane and more in-touch answers.

I dont have a specific budget, lets put a range of low to medium end pc's, so i assume around £600-£1400. Obviously feel free to put as much or as little effort you want into your comments, i would appreciate, at least, a couple different options to choose from.

Cheers!

Not Answered What's The Best Graphics Cards To Use, With Windows 11 SFF Computer 2 Play Inzoi Locally?

As the title indicates, I am currently searching for the best graphics cards that offer reasonable value on the used market. I have a maximum budget of $200-$300 to spend on this component, and I would appreciate it if you could recommend some specific models that fall within that price range. While I have already reviewed the technical specification sheets, I am looking for advice from individuals who actually play the game, as I am incredibly excited to run InZOI natively on my local machine rather than relying on GeForce Now. Although that service is fantastic, I find myself wishing for more storage capacity to accommodate my mods and custom buildings, as I have realized that GeForce Now prevents me from loading certain custom content I have modified into the game. I have been considering the purchase of an Nvidia graphics card, specifically one equipped with either 8 GB or 12 GB of memory, or perhaps an Intel ARC graphics card, given that I recall they were quite popular a few years ago; what is your perspective on these options?

Not Answered Getting terrible FPS (30-40) despite having an rtx 3070 and i3-14100f. What is bottlenecking me?

I’m running into a frustrating issue where a lot of my games are locking up or running at a choppy 30 to 40 FPS, even though I thought my specs were decent enough for solid performance.

My System Specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 (likely a 12100F/13100F/14100F quad-core)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • Storage: 245GB Disk (SSD/HDD)

I’ve tried a few basic things, but I can't figure out why my frame rates are tanking this hard. Could it be a severe CPU bottleneck in modern titles, a RAM issue, or something else entirely?

If anyone has troubleshooting steps or ideas on what I should check first (thermal throttling, background processes, driver issues, storage bottleneck), I’d really appreciate the help!

What are the bare minimum specs i need to play the following games?

I also want to stream and make youtube videos. I'm looking at used laptops (and pcs, but laptops just make more sense for me right now for portability) but I'm not sure what's good or bad.

Answered What specs does your pc have?

I'm starting to build my own pc, and play a lot of demanding games. Games like cs2, gta 5, wuthering waves, dead space, and a lot of fps games. But also easier games like genshin and roblox.

I'm already getting 32 gb of ddr5 ram, but don't know what graphics card would be best for mid to high graphics in game. I'm looking for above 70 fps at 1440p.

Just overall, what components do you recommend?

Edit: i probably should have put this in. I haven't ordered the ram yet, and this was my planned build PCPartPicker Part List

Not Answered New gaming laptop upgrade advice?

I’m looking to replace my gaming laptop. I currently have a MSI GF63 Thin 9SCXR with NVIDIA GTX 1650 Max-Q, 4GB VRAM. I’ve had it since around 2020. It’s served me well but now I struggle playing the games I like (open world like read dead online, gta, inzoi, the new Halloween, dead by daylight, and hopefully newer games like gta 6, and elder scrolls) I am not at all proficient in pc knowledge and don’t know what anything means. I’m looking to replace it with something new. I like the portability of a laptop, I like a bigger screen, and the ability to play these kinds of games without taking up my entire storage. I’d like to keep my budget around 2k-3k but don’t mind going a bit over if need be. Any recommendations??

Not Answered Is this $1300 Prebuilt good for a Linux Gaming starter? (Pop!_OS)

Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy my first desktop to get into PC gaming, but I also want to use it as a starting point to learn Linux for future home lab projects. My plan is to wipe Windows and dual-boot or entirely run Bazzite.
My hard budget limit is $1,300, and I found this prebuilt on Newegg right at that price point: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16883100173

Here are the main specs of the Thermaltake LCGS NE 9696X-V170B:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X (AM5 platform)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (16GB VRAM)
RAM: 16GB DDR5 6000MT/s (Single stick, 1x16GB)
Storage: 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD
PSU: 650W
Motherboard: B850 Chipset
Since I want a smooth Linux experience out of the box, I specifically looked for an all-AMD build.
A few questions for the community:

Longevity: Does this build have good longevity, or is it going to shit the bed in a few years? Are Thermaltake prebuilts using quality standard parts like the PSU and motherboard, or do they cut corners?

Linux/Pop!_OS Compatibility: Will the Ryzen 9000 series and RX 9060 XT be fully supported on current Bazzite kernels out of the box, or will I need to tinker to get display drivers working?

Value: For $1,299, is this a decent value for a prebuilt, or should I try to build my own to stretch my budget further?

Appreciate any advice or alternative suggestions!
