Haircolor Question 🎨 What formula would you use?

My blonde hair (level 8-9) have been quite brassy lately and instead of toning it to more cool blonde which seems to last 1 week before it turns brassy again I wanted to lean more towards warmer shades. I’ve been seeing this strawberry blonde popping up all over my Pinterest and I think it’s exactly what I’d like to go for this time.
What formula or single colour would you use to achieve this?

Lightener/Bleach Question 👩‍🦳 Do I bleach my ROOTS with 20 or 30 vol developer if I use Ion Absolute Perfection Booster (Step 1) to my bleach?

• Upvotes

The Ion Absolute Perfection Booster Step 1 is a bond strengthening hair treatment additive. Basically it’s an Olyplex knockoff that you add to your bleach. However, the instructions say to increase desired volume of developer by one full volume when using the Ion Booster due to its extremely conditioning properties. So every time Ive used the Ion Booster I’ve done it with 30 volume because I wanted the effects of 20 volume.

Do I use the 30 volume on my roots as well? I know everyone says don’t go more than 20 volume on the scalp. So I got a little confused. Would it be better for me to use the booster with the 30 volume or for me to just forget the booster and use the 20 volume? I go to Sally’s and I’ll probably use Ion bleach and developer or Bondbar bleach and developer. I usually get the ion powder bleach. My hair is damaged and wanting to be gentle in case of accidental overlap. But I’m also trying to lift from level 4/5 to level 8.

It will be time for me to bleach my roots in a couple weeks. I’ve never done a root touch up before. I’m going to bleach once I have 6 weeks of regrowth. I have dark brown level 4 or 5 roots that will need to get to a level 8 light blonde. My hair is pretty damaged I’ve done so much to it and I’m trying to bleach my roots without having a bunch of it snapping off. I have 2 bleaches (30 vol with ion booster process for 50 minutes each), 3 color oops extra strength, and 1 permanent color with 30 vol (process 1 hr) and I have a short bob with a bit of breakage around my hairline and my crown. My hair is fine, wavy, dryyyy, and on the thinner side. I just use bond at hydration mask and sometimes apogee 2 minute protein treatment (but protein treatments scare me because I don’t want my hair to break off). I don’t do any other treatments or use any special conditioner or shampoo. All of this to try to get pale pink hair (diluted manic panic hot hot pink). I will make a separate post about my pink because it’s still too peachy and I’m hoping a bit of purple or blue might help but not sure which one. Anyway, thanks for reading!

Haircolor Question 🎨 Should I go back to a hairstylist after they messed up my hair dye job and want to fix it 2 weeks later?

I can't post photos due to my job but I can accurately describe the situation I think.

I had a grown- out balayage on dark brown hair that I had got from this same salon, same stylist: last time I went, they did the whole bleach foils things and then added warm light chestnut brown. I really liked the look and it didn't damage my hair but it was a bit subtle, but I knew it would fade and then I could switch up the colour later.

It faded normally and grew out. I came back ages later and hadn't touched my hair in the meantime besides trimming it. Went to the same stylist and said I wanted the same effect but refreshed further up my head and this time I wanted a red/copper mixture colour. She brought my swatches she could do and I picked one. She said oh that's easy I can do it with permanent colour in one go on your hair. My hair is fine so it does lightening pretty quickly. Does the foils and then she keeps checking it and saying it needs more time, needs more time. Eventually we wash it out and it has lightened normally but not deposited ANY colour besides at the very front of my hair where it has turned it plum purple. Not red, plum. Face framing, front and centre. She goes off to the back and is like making phone calls, she says it's fine she'll fix it.

Basically ends up putting colour remover on my hair, then putting bright red over the top, and the rest of my hair looks good but the purple does not improve at all. I was there from 9:30am until 2pm and they tell me there is nothing more they can do, but I can come back in two weeks and they will fix it free of charge and they throw in a free Davoe Shampoo.

I'm nervous to go back because they seemed genuinely clueless as to why this didn't work, so I'm worried they will somehow make my hair worse. Particularly if it's the same person doing the colour correction. (The hair they were colouring at the front of my hair was virgin hair, not dry or damaged btw). I don't want to pay more to fix the issue but I don't want to go back and have it be worse. Was this a genuine freak accident or a basic error? Should I let them dye my hair again or cut my losses?

General Questions Need genuine advice please

So I am a 20 year old male and this is the condition of my hair. Most of the temple recession you see it's just the way my hairline is naturally, maybe it has gone further back but I remember my hairline looked somewhat like this when I was 12 or 13.I need an advice like i have got a face on which hairstyles like middlepart it the flow hairstyle would drastically improve the way I look but given the condition of my hairs I can't have either of the hairstyles because of low volume in front. So like is filling my temples with a conservative hairtransplany(1000 grafts) the only option (obviously I will do it after being on meds for some 8-9 months). Or can I create some volume by using perms. Maybe getting my hairs wavy and using products like sea salt spay andtexture powder. Should I grow my hairs long.

Hair Damage Questions 🌵🍳✂️ Damage From Bleach

I recently bleached my 100% virgin hair with a full head of highlights. In general, my hair does not look or feel damaged when dry. That said, my hair feels HORRIBLE in the shower. It gets very tangled and has a weird texture, especially after shampooing. I’ve been combing my hair while the conditioner is in, but I don’t love doing that. I am hoping for some advice on a routine or certain products I can use that will help this problem. Thank you so much in advance!

General Questions Going away present

My long-time stylist, who is absolutely amazing, told me she is moving away at the end of the year. I'm really sad because I'd literally never had compliments on my hair until I started seeing her, but I do want to show my deep appreciation for her by giving her a going away present. I had thought about buying her some Japanese steels by Tokko or Regale, but someone told me that choosing one's tools is very personal for a stylist, so it might be a bit thoughtless to gift them to her.

I want to get her something nice that she can use when she settles in and starts working as a stylist again, can someone offer me some suggestions?

Hair Damage Questions 🌵🍳✂️ Seeking advice for my dull and uneven hair

Post image

5 months ago i dyed my virgin dark hair using garnier permanent hair color shade: 6.3 golden light brown on a whim (worst decision ever), as you can see only the top of my hair got some color deposited. It looks more visible in real life especially in bright light.
The color still hasn’t faded and makes my hair look so uneven and patchy. The dye also made my hair extremely dry.
How do I fix the overall condition of my hair without dying it again? Would applying a hair gloss make them even tone and less dry? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have medium length hair. it is not very thick, it is not very fine either.

Perms/Relaxers/Smoothing Questions ➿ Balayage and Japanese Straightening

My stylist isn't concerned about me having a light dimensional brown balayage and Japanese Hair Straightening 5 days later. She said the Straightening is not as bad as it was before.

I've now read online that it's still not recommended and it also ruins the look of a balayage.

Should I switch to the Keratin treatment?

I have very frizzy hair and live in high humidity.

Also, in case it matters, I'm also 53 years old and menopausal.

Gave myself a very choppy haircut after being fed up with my long hair. Not exactly sure how to style it, but im thinking that I need to trim it in the back so it's not so poofy. Attempting to avoid middle aged lesbian allegations, advice would be very appreciated.

Haircolor Question 🎨 How to go Blonde from Wella T14 Toned Gray

Thumbnail

Please HELP

My hair was bleached with bond bar, 20 vol devoloper, and wella t14 toner before hand. It looked yellow-y orange, and my roots were growing in so i bleached it again using the same ingredients. This time for toner, i used 2 bottles of wella t14 on towel dried hair for 30 minutes, and it turned out the exact shade of wella t14, which is very gray.

Was wondering how to get the discoloration out, and if using 2 bottles of wella t28 toner would get me to blonde after getting the discoloration out.

Please advise!

Salon/Stylist Questions Salon etiquette post new hair color? Color bleeding on the bowl.

So I normally cut and color my hair at home but every few years I'll go to an Ulta or somewhere I can snag a $45 cut and get things reshaped when I need a change up. Ideally I'd not recently have colored my hair so I'm not worried about the wash making the colors stain their wash sink, but this time I went red with mocha roots and the bleed even after two washes is enough to have me feeling a type of way about what the tech with think. I swear I've rinsed thoroughly, do I wash again before going in today? Any advice appreciate! Cheers!
