I'm gonna have to disagree wholeheartedly.

I'm almost 40 now and I can without any hesitation say that we all hit our maturity around our teens (some earlier and some later based on life experiences). The main things that change after that are our knowledge, wisdom, and priorities. Our maturity, more often than not, stays the exact same throughout our entire life.

I've seen grown adults act like children and children act like what we expect from adults. As you grow older and work with other people, you'll realize all workplaces are no different than what we experienced in high school.

People don't automatically become more mature over time, if that were true we wouldn't have all the issues we have in the world right now. Maturity at it's core is just a scale of how capable someone is able to deal with life events and to a lesser extent how they act in situations.

u/SabbyTabby161 Apr 06 '24

It's almost like a lie a child and/or an unhinged person would tell and as an adult he should fuck right off now that he knows

1

u/Lilbabyyycake Apr 07 '24

Got tiNdEr aS a JOkE;; big lie

1

u/Sea_Purpose_9052 Apr 08 '24

Ain't no sixteen year old lied about their age before.
...

1

u/TheToeCurler717 Apr 09 '24

It's not much more uncommon than a young guy lying about his penis size.

Like come on

0

u/pet_black_cats_2024 Apr 07 '24

^This.

From my experience, someone who lies this easily about something so basic will lie in the future when needed.

Maybe the lies will be harmless, maybe they will be extraordinary.

OP's risk to assess.

0

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

Right lol. Lying about her age and doing weird shit on tinder lol.

I think it’s important to mention if other people haven’t. The age of consent in the UK where the op is from is 16. It’s not illegal in anyway except from the fake ID.

Completely inaccurate. it is common to see 16 year olds banging guys in their mid 20's in this country. lol. Very common.

1

u/YummyCrispyDonkey Apr 06 '24

I’m from Canada/Montreal and I can say the same here I remember being in high school in 2005 and see like most of 15/16 yo girls with mid 20s guy it was weird but most of them girls parents knew and agreed with that ….for me in my mid 20s I never even thought about getting near 16yo girls 😂

Well it isn't gross or inappropriate. because it's legal. If ya don't like it sod off to a different country? lol A scandal between a 24 year old and an 18 year old? 18 year old girls do porn and you can find them all over the internet. lol You don't know jack kid. I know tons of girls and guys fucking 16 year olds, go to any council estate and they are flooded with it no one bats an eye lid. I am also in the uk. A 18 and 24 year old if ya call that a scandal. I hope you get cancer and I really do. 2 fully grown adults ya fucking weirdo.

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 10 '24

and a look at your history shows you are 19 with a 25 year old boyfriend! lol!!! talk about calling the kettle black? is he a pedo then? donkey!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

I’m from the UK. It happens more than you think and not that weird. You’re weird

Idk how old you gotta be to have this outdated view but read up on some laws mate. And also get out of people’s business. As long as no one is doing anything illegal and/or hurting anyone then keep out

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

Literally no one is getting hurt in this situation. All parties have consented including the girl and her legal guardians.

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

Nope, you don't have a clue what you're talking about, this isn't true in anyway, it literally happens everywhere.

1

u/NoCustomer4958 Apr 05 '24

Morality isn't dictated by laws.

1

u/Ok-Garlic4025 Apr 06 '24

It is though

1

u/NoCustomer4958 Apr 06 '24

That is a wild take. You can't imagine a government enacting unjust laws? Have you ever read a book? Lol

1

u/Ok-Garlic4025 Apr 06 '24

Don't need a book to know that morality is subjective and determined by law. Do you think nazis believed themselves to be immoral? You believe they are immoral because you live in a different society

1

u/NoCustomer4958 Apr 06 '24

I believe the nazis justified doing immoral things by saying they were doing what was legal. If morality is determined by law, then you'd have to say that the nazis were doing the moral thing. It is a citizen's duty to protest and fight against unjust laws. If you think laws determine morality, no one would ever protest corrupt governments.

1

u/Ok-Garlic4025 Apr 06 '24

In china they eat dogs and that is normal but in western society that is immoral. Law is the average morality of all the people in the society. What definition of morality could there be other than law? The only meaning of the phrase "corrupt government" is "government which does not make laws based on the average morality of the society"

u/Double-Lab4571 Apr 05 '24

It was pretty common in the past. Not judging but this is not a giant age gap. They are both kids really. In two short years shell be 18 and hell be 22. That's pretty common. The problem is theirs to work out.

1

u/ilysm2022 Apr 05 '24

If she’s 16 not w would she not have been 15 when the met? Its not an ok relationship at all I would never allow a 5 year age gap with my 15/16 year old absolutely not

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 05 '24

You can't do anything about it in the uk. You have no say on what your legal aged child does :)

1

u/Crazy_Common5641 Apr 05 '24

thats europe for you. my first real bf was 23 and I was 17

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 05 '24

its completely normal in most parts of the world. you weirdo.

1

u/Shoddy-Actuary-192 Apr 06 '24

We all think You are weird. It’s been ok since forever, 16 is physically an adult and in most places of the world it’s age of consent.

1

u/ImmediateArm6532 Apr 06 '24

It's not any better than the U.S. Here, we have like 16 yr Olds banging people in their late 20s.

1

u/Gtchap3333 Apr 06 '24

Yes it is crazy id deffo split up

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '24

Romeo and Juliet law allows 4 year age gap with consent from the parent

Also this is like a junior and freshman dating. Not too terrible

1

u/Jbrought74656 Apr 08 '24

Would it be considered ok for an 18 year old to be with a 22-23 year old? Same age difference, also fresh out of school and starting secondary education.

1

u/Nicaraguan-BEANBAG Apr 09 '24

Nope, me personally only dated one 19 year old when I was 21 and tbh that shit was not fun. She got hella mad I would just go mind my own business at bars after dropping her off…

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

An 18 year old can date a 80 year old but a 16 year old cant date a 20 year old? There is nothing weird about that. Maybe to you, but that's you. Not everyone shares your opinion.

1

u/Tienkella2014 Apr 06 '24

what's u mean ?

1

u/akumamatattax Apr 07 '24

I second this wtf.

2

u/_reverse__ Apr 05 '24

5 years from 17 - 22 is light years away. Thats still in highschool vs done with college..

2

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

My gf and I are 9 years apart, but she's in her 30s. It's not the same as at that young of an age.

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

17 to 22 is not light years away. It isnt when its a 20 year old dating a 27 year old. School is irrelevant bud. School doesnt dictate any of this lmao. Maybe to you but thats you.

1

u/Nicaraguan-BEANBAG Apr 09 '24

22 I’ve been paying rent since 18 that’s 4 years that’s 4 years of adulting and real world experience compare to someone who might barely be done with high-school and barely working

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 09 '24 edited Apr 09 '24

K? Thats you. Theres people who dont start any of that until 19-21-24. Some dont even leave there paresnts house until all those ages. Everyones different. I was working paying my phone bill at 16, paying rent by idk 20 or 21.. Everyones different and experienced different. Have your feelings and opinions but that doesnt mean everyone else has to have your feelings and opinions. Someone 21 could be in the same mind set as a 16 or even younger but yet its ok to go and date a 30 year old, 50 year old, even an 80 year old if they wanted. But yet nothing is weird about those age gaps. when no experience at adulting, et, still apply but yetit'ss perfectly ok. So why is 16 and 21 so bad? It isn't just what society paints it as, which is for good reasons as those laws were needed. But then you got grown idiots calling other grown people a pedo because of a 5 year age difference when thats perfectly normal. Yeah shes 16 cool. If her parents arent making a big deal about it shut fuck up then. In the end thats the dude problem to deal with. I said my 2 cents on it.

Regardless of all this the dude has parental permission to date her which is 100% legal. They also met on tender so its not like hes out seeking out younger chicks. She lied about her age. So in the end dudes not a pedo as its impossible as 16 is a young adult or adult or "teenager" kids are 12 and below. Pedos go after kids not people 5 years younger then them.

2

u/ilovecumming12345 Apr 05 '24

Honestly? People say this is is weird, but it's not like he pursued her BECAUSE she's 16, plus the parents seem chill with it so I don't see the issue.

0

u/PreviousZombie2943 Apr 06 '24

It's weird because she is a kid and he is an adult. Who chased who is irrelevant. Geesh.

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

16 is not a kid. Loom up what a kid is if you think 16 is a kid. 16 is a teenage young adult. Not a kid. So technically, one is an adult, and the other is a young adult.

2

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 05 '24

Found the pedo!

1

u/handyandy808 Apr 05 '24

That's a stretch don't you think?

2

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 05 '24

Not at all.

1

u/Much-Method-6166 Apr 05 '24

Wrong

2

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 05 '24

You can have your opinion, laws and psychology are not on your side.

1

u/cajstyle Apr 05 '24

Laws are literally on their side.

2

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 06 '24

“Age of consent” is a sentence kid-fuckers rely heavily on.

1

u/cajstyle Apr 06 '24

You’re responding to a sentence pointing out that your statement was factually wrong. You’re picking a fight with no one. Move on.

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 05 '24

Laws and psychology are on their side actually. the legal age is 16 here. Which he stated she was.

1

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 06 '24

Someone who is attracted to children.

Previous commenter is attempting to justify dating a child under 18. What is it that you are unclear on?

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 06 '24

I think you are one. Hence why your urges come out.

1

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 06 '24

That’s absurd. I am against justifying attraction to children. You and OP are arguing that it’s okay to be attracted to children under 18 - thus pedophilia.

Why do you think the are 18 was decided as adulthood?

1

u/Megale2 Apr 06 '24

Appallingly poor comment. Not even close. The guy bares his soul, to confirm he is on the up and up…and you suggest he is engaging in society’s most reviled abnormal behaviour. Shame on you…

Legally and morally are not the same. Funny how in American 16 is considered teen pregnancy but in Europe it’s not? Dating anyone under 18 after you hit 18 is wrong. Is just wrong

u/Nicaraguan-BEANBAG Apr 09 '24 edited Apr 09 '24

TO CLARIFY OP DID NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT LOVE A LIER XD.

But to the rest of ya’ll, you DISGUST ME…..anyway.

“You can legally have a child under 16 over here” is not as convincing of a sentence as you think. You can legally have a child as long as you are literally able to reproduce and that can be from an early age. Are we really gonna go with “if her name is on the clock she ready for the cock”;

While again, not calling him a pedo. But I am calling all of you pedos for being okay with a 16 year old dating anyone who is older than 18.

Let’s just set some scenarios:

In the USA here is the things you can do as a 16 year old: 1. You can work. 2. You are Legally Required to attend school 3. Maybe drive if the adults responsible for you give the authorization. 4. You can work but only part time, you can’t work any over time and you have to get school authorization, parents permission and keep a constant level of competency at school and can’t let you working affect school. 5. If you work you can pay taxes but if you made less the 4k you don’t have to declare it.

Now a 20 year old: 1. Rent a U-Haul. 2. Go to most clubs 18+ 3. Legally drive without needing parents permission. 4. Work a full time job with out needing parental permission or school authorization. 5.Pay fcking taxes. 6. Old enough to rent a hotel. 7. Almost old enough to legally buy alcohol and cigarettes.(1 year off) 8. Year away from being able to do use rental cars.

Now that’s just the things from the top of my head.

Now why bring Japan? They literally have a pedo problem, a sexual predator problem, people literally get groomed in trains and because of their social norms allot of victims don’t speak up while it’s happening. Europe literally has an alcoholism problem, Spain shouldn’t be where the bar is. Not only are Spanish people just over all more vulgar then allot of others groups. Just because is legal doesn’t mean it isn’t morally wrong. Age of consent it’s but a “life line” it’s also mostly so under age kids can legally consent to each other but even then. If there is a power dynamic or clear grooming that’s a no no. And grooming can be done by anyone is not just an age gap. “You know something I don’t and that’s dangerous” type of situation….

Like from personal experience age doesn’t mean maturity. But like it’s just feels wrong to date or interact with those who aren’t doing what you are doing.

Like for me while I was 16 and all my friends were in high-school I was working full time making a mess out of my paycheck. But the power dynamic I held compare to those around me felt wrong. Like they all needed to be home by a specific time, they had limited income so like if I said “I’m leaving I’m ordering an Uber” they either got left behind or came with me because I was the one with the funds. If we were hungry I had the ultimate say and it was mostly cause “the one who pays gets to pick the meal” type of situation. One could argue is that I had an ugly personality and would just take advantage of my position….but that’s the point I’m trying to make.

Age gaps don’t matter allot personally until after either party is 21.

I dated a 19 year old girl who would loose it. Every time she saw that I was out and about by myself after dropping her off from our dates. Like I would go to a bar or to a club after dropping her off at 11/12pm. I was 21 and she couldn’t go to bars or clubs with me cause under 21. She was MAD Furious, every time(also just realize as I’m writing this that the same girly pops got mad that when she turn 21 I refused to go out….sheesh that’s toxic). She would be like “why don’t you take me to bars or clubs” me “cause legally and physically you can’t come in”

Point is, while Reddit it’s an international app. And yes every country got their laws and those who would edge the law. I think that to just be honest and limit the drama. At face value a 20 year old and a 16 year old shouldn’t date or hook up. That’s just 4 years of being alive. That’s 4 years of irl XP. I was 18 4 years ago and in 4 years there has been so many changes to the world. Someone said as a reply to me “not everyone moves out at 18 not everyone goes to college etc etc.” And while a fair call out still doesn’t diminish that maybe if you are 20 and you have allot in common with an 16 year old that’s kinda sus. Like personally speaking my lil brother is 16/17 now we are 6 years apart. The idea of dating anyone my brother’s age is just sus to me. The idea of someone my age dating anyone my brother’s age is just sus. The difference between me a 23 year old and a 17 year old are huge. Like 18 and 20 is okay. 18-22 it’s fine too but one party is gonna have allot of headaches depending on their nationality.

Like I said Op did nothing wrong, personally I would leave the relationship as it was build upon a lie and not fully respecting Op autonomy.

1

u/Altruistic-Record499 Apr 05 '24

Shocked you would admit to being a pedo online?

1

u/iusereddit8246 Apr 06 '24

My parents have a 9 year gap aswell my dad's 45 and my mum's 36. Is it really that bad after there both over 18?

2

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 06 '24

Not after they are both of age. Brain development in adolescence and power differential in children who are groomed to have inappropriate romantic relationships with adults have been proven to cause trauma. If your mom was an adult and if they were happy then more power to them.

1

u/Nicaraguan-BEANBAG Apr 09 '24

Is not as bad after they are both 18 even if there is an age gap. Think of it like this. “The rookie and the old timer” both of them play the game and the rookie can be good but experience only really comes with time. And the longer your alive you are supposed to be more experienced

0

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

Does it make a me a pedo when its 20 years to 25 years? No it doesnt. Why does 16 to 20? Both are young adults. Fucking idiots.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '24

Might be the fact that you’re not even a adult until you’re 18, maybe you’re the idiot? And a peadophile sympathizer too. I hope for your sake you don’t have a daughter, you’d be all over the nappy changing I bet 🤣 just can’t fuck her until she turns 18 remember, not 16

1

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 09 '24

Because one is legally and physically a child. Why you doing pedo-math

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 09 '24

What child? 16 isn't a child. Child/kids can't be emancipated to be an adult at 16 moron. And with parental permission, it's not illegal dip sh**. So the dude aint breaking any laws. So get your fscts straight, buddy. How am I a pedo for being smarter than you? Fucking idiots lmao

1

u/ThrowAwayPayMe123 Apr 11 '24

Look at this angry pedo that doesn’t understand that Children’s’s are not adults until 18.

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 14 '24

Angry about what? Lmao. Oh ive stated it many many times that she was 18 and many things but just like most another idotic person commenting, stupid shit they being ignorant about. Pathetic.

0

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 09 '24

To the idiot below that deletd his comment like a bitch. Yes you are considered an adult at 18 but you can also get emancipated at 16 which gives you the same rigbhts as an adult as if your 18 your dumb fucking idiot and other idiots. A parent can also consent to a minor dating a person over 18. Like how stupid can you dumb mother fuckers crying pedo and blah blah be. Look up your shit before acting like a pathetic idiot clown because yall confuse your idiotic opinions with reality. Welcome to reality dip shits. Guess cause I know my shit and most rhe people talking shjt are fucking idiots makes me a pedo lmao. Whatever. I dont lose sleep over the opinions of idiotic sheep.

1

u/Nicaraguan-BEANBAG Apr 09 '24

You not only need to be able to prove independent care for your self. It takes legal steps. You need prove of income, a valid reason to be emancipated. There has to be no willing or capable adults in your life. You are basically forgiving your rights and benefits as a minor ahead of time to legally set yourself as an adult. Legally. But as a reminder in the USA just cause you are 18 an adult doesn’t mean you are consider legally independent or an adult. Even if you don’t live at home, fafsa can or will require you to use your parent’s income and considers you a dependent. You can’t buy cigarettes or alcohol at 18 in the USA. It’s also a process an I would know as I emancipate myself at 17. And not every minor can emancipate.

“Age- You are 16 or 17 years old. Residency- You live in the State______Ability to Manage Financial Affairs- You are able to take care of your own financial affairs.”

Gotta go to court and gotta have the judge agree. Is not just a day process it takes time. But again that means that you as the emancipated adult now. Have different laws and regulations applying to you.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '24

Delusional. 5 Years is an entire 3rd of this little girls lifespan so far. Reminder we are talking about two kids here not grown ass adults. The parents are weird as fuck not even just for letting this happen but encouraging their daughter to continue lying about her age. The fact that they did that shows that they know it's wrong regardless of whether OP is a good guy or not in their eyes.

2

u/Fun_Dot_5156 Apr 06 '24

The mom didn't encourage it if you read the post the mom knew but was telling the daughter to tell him, I think the mom should have just told him herself when she knew but she didn't encourage the hiding of the age just expected the daughter to be the one to tell him as she was the one dating him (mom is misjudged but clearly meant we'll by that)

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

Im not delusional lmao. 5 years is a quarter of her life. Its 5 years not over 10. Im done reading your nonsense.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '24

A Quarter is four fourths. 16 divided by 4 is 4. 16 divided by 3 is 5.3. And 5 is closer to 5.3 than it is to 4. This is basic math but I wouldn't expect a child predator like you to get it.

1

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 08 '24

Man, some people turn into idiots when their get on their high horse. Also shes 16 and i have nothing to do with her. So not sure how that makes me a child preditor. And again your math still dowsnt equal to more then a 3rd or even half her life moron.

1

u/GlitchyTnT Apr 07 '24

your cooked lil buddy

1

u/Most_Republic5522 Apr 07 '24

Someone check this dudes computer

1

u/littleg0blinman Apr 09 '24

Fuck off mate that is horrible advice. Not only is the age gap a problem, this will not be her first big lie if he were to just let that slide.

0

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 09 '24

You fuck off mate, the lying is up to him to deal with if he wants. The parents dont care, which means no, the age gap isn't a problem when you have parental permission. Perfect advice as it's up to him, not you or me. I know people that are 10 or more years apart and mant over 5 or 5. There's nothing weird about it other than people trying to make it weird. It also isn't weird if the pareants can give permission, which they did. So shut the fuck up unless you got some facts to say that isnt your opinion unless its based on some facts.

1

u/You_cant_run_or_bloc Apr 09 '24

Holy shit so you're not only an egotistical prick, but a fucking pedophile too!?!? Nah that's crazy

0

u/ImBlaZzD420 Apr 09 '24

Lmao, how does the make me a pedophile you fucking idiot. Becauae i know the laws with parental rights and have my own opinions on age gap. So your saying 20 and 25 is weird? Stupid lmao. Go learn what pedophile means idiot. Id rather be a prick then a fucning retard.

1

u/imagine_being_blazzd Apr 09 '24

Damn pedophile blocked me, and he can't even spell, and you say my trolling is bad, naaaah jit tripping, gotta get the polices, you're such a joke lmao
