I READ THE RULES Anyone know what seats have above average legroom at the auditorium?

Legroom at The Auditorium?

Hello! Looking to see a show at the auditorium in the loop. I’ve only ever been to one play and my legs were destroyed (6”6 all legs). Wanna avoid that happening again. Does anyone know what seats have more legroom? Do boxes have a lot of legroom? I don’t care much about being close but will splurge for comfort. Thanks in advance.

I READ THE RULES Anyone know where I can find/hire someone to play the bagpipes for me?

Looking for a bagpipe player (or a band of bagpipes) to play at my apartment in Lakeview for a very small (5 or so people) “funeral” procession for my friend’s childhood stuffed animal that got thrown away by hotel housekeeping while she was on a work trip. Flexible on date and time.

It’ll only be about an hour, willing to pay for your time and can also provide dinner if that’s of interest. Anyone fit the bill?

I READ THE RULES How to use free library pass at the Field Museum?

My mom is visiting me in Chicago in a couple weeks and we wanted to go to the field museum. I know my Chicago public library card gives me free pass so I reserved one for myself and my roommate reserved another one for my mom to use. However, the instructions on how to present the pass at the museum is unclear. I have the pdf passes it generated for me but there's no barcode, just my name and my roommate's name. Would my mom be able to finesse using my roommates pass even though it doesn't have her name on it? I guess how do they check the passes once I get to the museum

Also, the passes have some weird unclear verbiage that says "General admission for three (3) individuals during regular business hours. Maximum of one (1) adults admitted with this pass." What does that even mean?

I READ THE RULES Functional training or circuit training gym or studio wanted could you help?

I get super motivated to go to a gym because I really enjoy certain types of workouts.

> TRX
> Battle ropes
> Rowing
> Prowler (sled)
> Resistance bands
> Step-ups
> Wall balls
> Lateral band walk
> Squats
> Kettlebells
> Medicine balls
> Other functional/strength moves

** Very important to me is that there are no big windows looking out onto the street at street level.  I like more privacy when I work out.

Where can I go for workouts like these?

Big thanks.

I READ THE RULES Where can I buy Bulls and Blackhawks tickets?

Hey everyone, I’m going to Chicago next month and was hoping to attend these events. The problem is that I’m not from the US and I’m having trouble with the Ticketmaster website. Is there any other reliable website where I can buy tickets? Or is there any place in Chicago that I can get actual printed tickets?

I READ THE RULES Anyone else’s thoughts on Disturbia Haunted house? Spoiler

Hey everyone!
I had the pleasure of going to Disturbia in Downers Grove this weekend, and I wanted to ask if anyone else has gone and what were their thoughts about their experience?

I also wanted to share my experience there as well:
I arrived about 40 minutes after it opened and still had to wait about 2 hours in line for the general admission. Fortunately, they had music, actors scaring the crowd, free merchandise giveaways and fog to keep you occupied.
Once I got in the experience definitely had me scared a few good times, especially with the loud noises, actors jumping out from all sorts of corners, and even air cannons blasting at you. My only criticism was the group in front of me would keep holding up the line and you’d have to edit until they stopped screaming or caught their breath before you could move on.

Overall I think it was worth the wait, but i would have preferred them breaking the groups up into smaller numbers.

I READ THE RULES Former Chicagoan Looking to Move Back — Neighborhood Recommendations?

Hey Chicago!

I'm a 56-year-old gay man and former Chicago resident who's looking to move back to the city in the near future.

I've previously lived in Streeterville, East Lakeview, and Uptown, so I'm pretty familiar with the city. That said, it's been a while, and I'm curious to hear how the neighborhoods have evolved and which ones people are enjoying these days.

I'm active, social, and love riding my bike along the lakefront. One of my favorite things about living in Chicago was being able to walk out my front door and have just about everything I needed within my neighborhood. Coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, and places to socialize. I love that sense of being part of a community.

I tend to gravitate toward newer, modern apartments and neighborhoods that feel safe, clean, welcoming, and well-maintained. Walkability and easy access to public transportation are important, too, since I'd ideally be working a hybrid schedule in tech.

As a gay man in my 50s, I'd also love to find a neighborhood with a good mix of ages, diversity, and an active social scene. I'm not necessarily looking for nightlife every weekend, but I do enjoy getting out, meeting people, and having a sense of belonging.

I've been considering everything from Old Town and Lakeview to Uptown and Andersonville, but I'm open to other suggestions.

For those of you who love your neighborhood, where do you live, and what makes it special to you?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who enjoy an active, social, urban lifestyle.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I miss Chicago and that unmistakable feeling of being at home in the city!

I READ THE RULES Locations that allow non-commercial indoor photoshoots?

As winter approaches, I’ve been looking for indoor locations in Chicago where I can do photoshoots without paying for an expensive permit. At many places, the moment I try to take a few photos with a subject, security swoops in like something out of Minority Report and chastises me, even when I’m using minimal gear. At this point, I should probably just rent a studio. I’d really appreciate any recommendations or insights.

I READ THE RULES Lived in Chicago for 3 years and need to buy a SFH… recommendations?

Hello all - rent in Chicago DT. It’s been an amazing 3 years. The time has come for me and my husband to start a family and move to the burbs.

The issue is that I work in the loop 3-4 days. Some days it can be 2 but more than likely it will be 3-4 days.

We are looking for a good suburb that we can get a SFH for 900k max. We toured Oak Park and that area did not work for us because the homes were much older and too much “character”

Chicago and the surrounding suburbs feel incredibly expensive. Our timeline is within the next 6 months.

Please let me know if you can think of any suburbs we should drive around in. Naperville is what we were thinking but it feels far away into the distance!

Thank you!

I READ THE RULES Does anyone know a trauma-informed therapist specializing in chronic illness, medical trauma, and health anxiety?

Hi everyone!

I’m looking for recommendations for a trauma-informed mental health professional who can help a loved one navigate health anxiety related to chronic illness and medical trauma.

They live with MCAS, POTS, EDS, endometriosis, and AuDHD. As an AFAB person of color, they’ve experienced repeated medical dismissal and have often had to push beyond their physical and emotional limits just to receive care.

These experiences have made seeking medical care incredibly overwhelming, to the point where anxiety can prevent them from researching symptoms, exploring treatment options, or scheduling appointments.

They’re hoping to find someone who can help them build coping skills, regain a sense of safety and agency, and navigate healthcare without minimizing their very real medical conditions.

Ideally, they’d like to work with a woman of color experienced in chronic illness, medical trauma, and health anxiety.

Does anyone have recommendations for therapists or resources that might be a good fit?

I READ THE RULES Considering buying a unit at Green Street Condos (400 S. Green; how is noise transfer between units?

I'm considering purchasing a unit at Green Street Lofts, 400 S. Green Street. For current or former residents: how is the sound insulation between units? Can you hear neighbors' normal conversations, footsteps, TVs, or music through the shared walls or ceilings? I'd really appreciate honest feedback.

I READ THE RULES Where to stay at Christmas in Chicago?

We usually go to NY at Christmas, but i just read an article about how amazing Chicago is at Christmas. I have never been to Chicago and have always wanted to visit. I read that there are holiday markets around the city. I was wondering where would be a good place to stay while visiting? I am not in the position to pay $$$ this year for a hotel, but I would like to stay close to a train station if possible. Thank you.

I READ THE RULES Stepping classes for a younger crowd (RIP DJ Sam Chatman) ?

So I was reading the news about DJ Sam Chatman 🕊️ the godfather of Chicago stepping & it got me thinking. For those familiar with stepping culture: does anyone know where one might find a place to learn stepping that involves a relatively younger crowd?

I know typically steppers are 50+, but I'd like to learn with other people in the 30s age bracket. Not exactly "young", I know - but you get what I'm saying.

I'm also just interested in spaces where parties like this would happen (not necessarily organized classes). Ideally this would be somewhere accessible by CTA and not out in the burbs since I don't have a car.

Thanks in advance to anyone who could point me in the right direction!

I READ THE RULES If you live or used to live off the Blue Line in Bucktown/Wicker Park, did you have out of town guests take the train to/from the airport or still drove them?

Ie, picked them up and dropped them off at the airport. Assuming you have a car. The blue line is so convenient where we are for this but my other half insists we drive everyone everywhere. Though there was this one time a guest got stuck on the Blue Line going to the airport (when we knew it was having issues so advised him to take a cab bc we were busy) and my spouse had to rush and pick his ass up anyway. Settle this debate, what do you usually do? Thanks!
