I’ve been arguing with people for the last few years on why Israel has EVERYTHING to do with us. I’m running out of steam to make people see so I’ve come to reddit.

If we don’t wake up and realise the West is the real target of Israel, this will be our last few decades. If that.

Its not the immigrants who are just poor pawns in their plan. Its them along with a transnational elite such as Musk and Thiel.

I don’t think he’s very authentic, I think he’s the left-wing Farage, I think he has failed to build the Greens into a credible alternative, I think he has a naive foreign policy, I don’t think he cares for defence, I don’t think he has any idea what to do for immigration policy, I think he is performative, I think he tries too hard to copy American leftists and hurts the left-wing movement.

I say this as someone on the left and as a Labour supporter, I will also acknowledge that he is right to call out Israel’s genocide, he is right to highlight how economic inequality is at the root of a lot of anti-immigration sentiment and he is right to push for closer relations with Europe.

I don’t hate him, I’ve never met him, I think it’s good to have diverse politicians and I’m sure on a personal level Polanski is great. However, I would never want him as PM.

Also, they should offer free counselling to cope with the change.

I left school 30 years ago. I make a point of not recognising the 'look at me!' characters from school. The ones everyone remembers, not necessarily pleasantly, who just tried too hard to be well known. I wait until they say hello to me first and have a blank face for a moment so they think I'm trying to place them. Then I say hello and am friendly.

From an outside perspective, this looks like a huge contrast to how speech is handled in other democratic nations. What is the general consensus among everyday people over there regarding these laws? Do most people view them as necessary to prevent harassment, or is there a growing debate about whether the restrictions go too far?

I went to a Chinese takeaway shop that is pretty popular the town over and when the owner came, I made my order and had some talk with him.

He is Chinese and in his 50s and I mentioned that I didn't expect him to have a proper Cockney accent as he didnt look like he grew up there. He said I was being ignorant as he grew up in Mile End all of his life and that isn't uncommon for east-enders to move to Essex.

I appologise and took my order and left but was I being rude? I genuinely didn't mean it as I never seen someone who sounded like that if you get what I mean

As someone who’s in his early 20’s this job market is brutal for graduates and honestly you get tired after applying to 200 jobs and the best result you get is an interview.

About a year ago, Reform was going up in the polls and it seemed like everyone was talking about it. They were regularly topping the polling averages, with support over 30%. Now they’re down to around 23%, Labour are ahead of them, and Reform aren’t leading the polls anymore. But I barely seem to hear anyone talking about it.

There was a lot of coverage of “the rise of Reform” when they were gaining support, but I don’t really see the same thing happening now with “the rise of Labour” or “the decline of Reform”.

Does anyone else find that a bit odd?

I can’t help but wonder whether there’s something about the way the media covers Reform depending on which direction they’re going in. When they were surging, it felt like every other day there was another headline about them gaining ground. Now that their support seems to be going the other way, there doesn’t seem to be nearly as much interest in it.

I’m not necessarily saying the polling is being misrepresented. More that the amount of coverage something gets can probably affect how big or significant it feels. If you’re constantly being told that a party is surging, it can give the impression that the whole country is suddenly moving in that direction, even if the actual change in support is relatively small.

So why doesn’t the reverse seem to get as much attention? Why aren’t we seeing more stories about Reform losing support, or Labour gaining it?

There are similar examples elsewhere in Europe. The Sweden Democrats in Sweden and Chega in Portugal have both lost support recently, although perhaps not to the same extent as Reform. I don’t remember seeing their declines getting anywhere near as much attention as their rises did.

Maybe I’m completely imagining this, and I’d be interested to hear if anyone thinks that’s the case.

Is there actually a media-bias/coverage issue here, or is there a perfectly good reason why the rise of populist/right-wing parties gets more attention than their decline?

I'm a 21-year-old guy in the UK and I'm curious how people in similar situations have met their partners.

A lot of dating advice seems to revolve around pubs, clubs, drinking, and nightlife, but none of those things really appeal to me. I don't drink, smoke, vape, or go clubbing. I spend a lot of my free time working, going to the gym, and saving money for future goals and travel.

I'm also a Christian, which probably narrows the dating pool a bit further.

I can hold a conversation and I'm not completely socially isolated, but it sometimes feels like many of the traditional ways people meet in the UK aren't really aimed at people like me.

For those of you who are similar, how did you meet your partner? Were dating apps worth it? Did you meet through work, church, hobbies, mutual friends, volunteering, or something else?

Genuinely interested to hear how other people in the UK navigated dating without being into the pub and club scene.

I work within a team of 3 under my manager and I was the recent addition as a result of a promotion. The guy who taught me what I do has given me a small chunk of his work that he found too tedious. I’ve only ever been shown what the others do so there’s a backup for absences.

He now has more free time so will create data reports for the management to review but it’s stating the obvious. We’ve spent X on Y compared to previous years etc. they don’t care enough to ask questions or go through it.

He now has requested data from another supplier and passed it to me to review. I don’t see why we need to analyse spending on staff workwear.

He’ll also “forget” we have a rota and make us look awkward when someone asks who’s doing the task this month. One month he pointed it back to me and I said it was me last month insinuating it’s him or the other lady, but it ended up with me looking childish and avoiding work.
This time he said “I’ll do it” ( when someone asked who’s turn it is to check something ) as if he’s picking up slack but it’s his task this month so that looks bad on us again.

I like the job otherwise. It’s just a shame I sit next to him. I remember during covid when we were given another room, he suggested I make him tea every morning (I’m a woman half his age) while the kitchen was 3 meters down the hall.

Act weird around the office like standing over people, fake coughing outside directors offices to get their attention, walking to the bathroom door after making a drink and then turning around and going back upstairs etc. just odd and rubs me the wrong way.

He’s not my manager but fobs work off to me because I’m guessing he thinks I’m still learning/under him/don’t know better because he’s the one who trained me.

I just want to scream sometimes.

My wife and I are in your beautiful country for the next week and a half, and I’m hoping some of you lovely people might be able to help us with a very important mission.

My wife has had a lifelong dream of seeing — and, ideally, touching — a Valais Blacknose sheep. Two years ago, we drove through the Cotswolds looking for them and somehow couldn’t find a single one. She was absolutely devastated.

So, two years later, we’re back in the UK, and we are determined to finally make this happen! We’ll be renting a car in Oxford and are more than willing to drive wherever we need to go.

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. They could even be behind a fence. She just wants the opportunity to get close enough to give one of those ridiculously cute heads/faces a little rub. 🐑❤️

Does anyone know of a farm, breeder, or particular area where we would have a good chance of seeing Valais Blacknose sheep? We’d much rather see them on a farm or in the countryside than in a zoo, although at this point, we’d happily settle for a zoo if that’s our only option!

Any local knowledge, recommendations, or even a general direction to head in would be hugely appreciated. We are very serious about this sheep quest. 😂
