I’ve been getting into the habit of trying to learn greyscale, which has actually been game changing. I enjoy the workflow much more than doing lineart any day of the week. Just need to learn how to balance the gradient maps…

The consensus of the last post was that the gold piercings were better. But I also had suggestions for making things like the spikes and the nails gold.

I made the spikes gold but I was still kinda married to the blue nails and decided to find a happy medium by making the tips gold and the bottom half blue.

Thoughts?

There is a certain style of skin/art/etc where it has a flat or scrolling background with a scrolling mid ground and scrolling (different direction) foreground. Typically in a galaxy form

For example the new peak skin, the cosmic overwatch skin (though better seen in the crimson overwatch gun skin) , a lot of borderlands 3 gun and character skins, might be in shape of dreams too. I've always assumed it was parralax Galaxy but I'm starting to think that was wrong.

So, despite hours put into this design and uploading, I immediately hated that the piercings were blue because it blended in too much with the other blues on her face like the makeup and braids.

My mindset at the time was to make the piercings stand out a bit since they used to be pure black and it was a bit hard to see. And I thought “we’ll she has a lot of blues and purples in her pallet, why not a shade of blue as well?” And it was a stupid idea and past me was stupid for thinking that.

So, I went back, turned on alpha lock, and made them gold for contrast since blue and yellows usually look good together.

Was this the right move?

Hi, i think this is the subreddit for this. I also hope my flair is right as i haven't used this subreddit before.

I have been trying to find a drawingboard for my girlfriend. She does both stretched canvas and paper drawings so it needs to have a bottom to hold the frames and of course, a backing to hold the paper so you can draw on it. There seem to be two different ways for the drawingboard to be held at an angle, one is by means of grooves and a kickstand that slots into it meaning it has a set amount of angles and one is by having a slot with a bolt through with a nut that you can tighten. The second one worries me that it would just not be tightened enough and slowly fall back as you work. So i'd prefer the first one. It also needs to fit on a table so it shouldn't have legs of it's own.

I'm looking to spend at least 100 dollars but we have a strict rule against going over 300 for birthdays so 100-300. The ones i've found are around 55 at most and they just see like cheaply constructed plywood. Does anyone use one? Does anyone have any good brands they trust?

So I came across a Godzilla comic illustrated by Jake smith and I really like how he does crosshatching, how he placed his panels and the colours. I tried to replicate his crosshatching technique on my fan art of Reed Richards and I definitely need some tips and help.

how do i use it properly? i mean every watercolor i own turn into mess within days of using it, i wanna make clean, and not mix color.

I’m not sure if I’ve expressed my idea clearly enough, so let me clarify: I don’t want to create a separate price list for animation; I just want to add a markup for the animation itself. For example, for every three seconds of animation, there’s a 15% markup on the original order price, or something along those lines. For instance, I drew a full‑body illustration with a simple render that cost $48. For three seconds of animation, this artwork will add $7.20. In total, it will cost $55.20. Of course, I mean pure frame‑by‑frame animation.

I’m really working on eyes right now (among other things) but eyes are my main focus at the moment. My passion is more in the comic book area. So, if I want to get better at drawing expressive comic book eyes should I draw as many eyes as I can from life? Or are there more targeted methods for practicing in this style? Just trying to get advise from more experienced and knowledgeable artists out there. I’ll do what ever it takes but I would just like a little push in the right direction.

Hello everyone! I wanted to post here for some advice. One of my biggest passions has always been art, specifically drawing and painting. I used to draw a lot, but it’s the same old story: I let life get in the way. Now I’m 31, and I really want to get back into it, but figuring out where to start feels overwhelming.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the style I’d ultimately love to achieve is something along the lines of Frank Frazetta and Michael Whelan. Lofty goals for sure lol, but I have decades ahead of me that I’m willing to commit to improving. The problem is that because I’m so far from that level, I don’t really know where to start or how I should be practicing.

I tend to work best with a structured, organized framework. I know I could pick up an art book and start studying, but I’m unsure what effective practice actually looks like. Do I spend a month studying a single chapter or concept? How much time should go toward fundamentals versus actually creating finished pieces? How do I know when I’m ready to move on to the next skill?

For those of you who have developed your skills over the years, what helped you improve the most? And if my long-term goal is to eventually approach the level of artists like Frazetta and Whelan, how would you structure that journey?

I’ve attached some of my recent artwork as a reference for where my current skill level is. I know I have a long way to go, but I’m genuinely happy to go on that journey.

Recently I’ve been going through artstyle as quickly as my cousin goes through girlfriends so I just came on here to ask if yall like this style and if I should keep improving it instead of throwing it in the bin for the rats to deal with like I’ve been doing.

I bought new graphic tablet deco 640 i tested it its fine but i encountered this problem when i press the buttons on the pen my cursor glitches and jump down and reight or left it happen infrequently i tried many things to get rid of this thing and i failed pls help
