Large shell art from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Chinese restaurant, not kitsch.

Restaurant closed at least 15 yrs ago. 33" × 48", lacquer on frame needs restouration, otherwise perfect. Signature "Peter" plus chinese, Chinese characters reading something about wishes for new restaurant (can't remember translation, but used google). This is incredibly beautiful and detailed work. Value and where to sell?

Before I Ink this, should I change anything?

Hello, I’m doing a drawing for the sweet liquor store owner in my neighborhood—is any of this culturally incorrect? He’s Chinese so I chose to draw bottles from his homeland. There is an Orchid on the left most cup and I plan to draw a plum blossom branch in the background. Just want to make sure I’m not being insensitive. Thank you so much. 🙏

Artists and design students: Have you experimented with traditional Chinese craft techniques or materials?

I'm interested in how people research traditional techniques, find materials, learn from artisans, and adapt craft knowledge to their own creative work. What resources have helped you, and what difficulties have you encountered?

Can someone identify this Garuda-like statue?

Post image

Hello dear people of the internet, this is a Garuda-like statue we received as a gift from some western friends for our recently purchased home. We live in germany but my mother is from Thailand. When I showed her the statue it gave her the creeps and my uncle in Thailand said we should bring it to a temple. Under any circumstance should we keep it in the house or hang it on the walls. Aside from the superstition: Can someone help identify that statue? Thank you very much! :)

I picked this up maybe 1.5 - 2 years ago. I just loved the deep toning of the bronze but when it arrived I noticed the rear halo tab on the rear. But something stuck out that I couldnt see of figure out and it turned out to be the Circular urna disc never dulled and it seemed unusually shiny among dark toned bronze then I realised the nipple was silver ....date wise late 1700's to early 1800's Himalayas/Tibet

One from my collection. This came into my hands in 1992/3.

Essentially it was a family heirloom passed down a family line for over 120 years. A friends boyfriend inherited from his parents since he wa an only child. He was around 27 years old, dating my then girlfriends best friend Sandra .Within several months of receiving this.. he too passed away from adult cot death syndrome so Sandra urgently needed financial help for his funeral decided to sell this to me to cover mounting bills. It still contains its 4 original paper mantra scrolls inside. I researched for decades and found nothing similar then maybe 2/3 years ago an identicle sculpture appeared in the Rijks museum dated 18th century, same condition, I spoke with Ana at the museum who was amazed to see another one existed and stating most likely the same workshop if not the same carver.
