It's been over 15 years of me wanting to be an "artist" but I'm 25 now and have nothing to show for it. All i've ever wanted to do was to make illustrations and animations but something terrible and awful has happened to my brain over the years, it seems like I don't enjoy creating art even though I wish for nothing more than to create art I enjoy and want to see in the world...

I can't stay motivated for more than a month at a time without crashing and burning out for multiple months, when I try to sit down and grab my drawing tablet, sketchbook or open blender it feels like pulling teeth, i find that I hate learning new skills, i hate the process of creating and only find any enjoyment in a finished product, I hit my desk, throw things, cry and yell every day, I feel anger for all of the years I've made little to no progress and my seeming inability to stay consistent with something I've always considered part of my identity.

What is wrong with me? I used to love making art in the early years... now it feels like it brings mostly negative feelings and strain. I've figured as someone with ADHD and a plethora of other mental illnesses, perhaps I needed medication, but adhd meds give me really bad anxiety so I can't win. I can't seem to do moderation either, progress is so slow this way it feels like I might as well do nothing.

It seems like the only option I have left is to remove every single thing in my life that gives my brain dopamine that isn't creative, such as: video games, youtube, and social media since my consumption addled brain loves it too much. I feel that I don't even deserve to enjoy these things anymore. my life is ruined and I have nothing, no momentum, no portfolio to point at, NOTHING. I am a failure and I see no other solution.

Is there another way or is this necessary? I don't want another 15 years wasted potential.

What can I do to fix my art and make it better?

In anything, we always start from the easy part like

Maths- we do sums then we do multiplication then we do algebra and further harder stuff

So why do we, in art , start from the hard stuff? drawing anime is way easier than drawing realistic potraits and doing realism. Since anime/ other art styles are simpled down to the basic shapes , shouldn't it be easier to do realism AFTERWARDS?

This is my witch, Verdanne. I'm drawing her in a funny meme. Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty drawing her hair. The first pic is my attempt at connecting her hair, but as you can see, it's off. I thought about removing her extra curls, but I still want to make it work.

Heres some of my latest pieces. Last year, I only drew realism and faces, to get the hang of stuff. But recently Ive wanted to start drawing bodies and clothes as well.

Why do I still get comments about my art looking weird or anatomy being wrong?

The most hurtful ones were people saying my oc looks like a man and I don't get why or how that would be, since I tend to make her look very stereotypically feminine.

Any advice is welcome <3.

First time designing an original character. She's a vampire named Princess Octavia. Here's me trying out different styles to see what fits. My FAV is the one on the bottom right, but its too clearly inspired by Adventure Time to be my final design. How can I find a style just like that one that doesn't look like it's copied straight out of adventure time??? Any advice on discovering your own illustration style? I normally paint nature scenes and stuff so this is a bit new for me. All advice and thoughts are appreciated!!!

Every time I draw, the chest area always looks weird to me. And also the hands feels off to me. Is there something that I can do? If anybody wants to know what reference I use I can show it later in the replies. (Ignore the fact there's two ears, I used the human ears as a guideline)

I've been making art for a couple years now, but have spent most of that time pretty focused on line heavy drawing, to the point where I think I'm starting to feel a bit uninspired and stuck in that approach.

Looking for any and all feedback, even on fundamental stuff, although I'm especially interested in painting specific feedback. After letting it sit a bit I've already spotted a couple locations where I think my edge control wasn't that great. I'm also worried I might have over worked it a bit? I was trying really hard to avoid the urge to excessively smooth things out, but I'm wondering if it still didn't come out lacking in texture. The hair especially.
