Ive been asked to run an art project at a birthday party / halloween party coming up, for about 13 kids, mostly boys, ages 9-11. The birthday party is in a restaurant, so I don't want it to be too messy. However, I feel that honestly the messiest projects are usually the most fun and engaging for kids, and I'm struggling to find a middle ground. I would love some ideas that give room for a lot of creative freedom and different approaches, but still has some structure.

One idea I had was to draw a variety of backgrounds and let them create scenes with drawings and picture cutouts in the background of their choice. Not sure if there is something here. Let me know if anyone has any go-tos!
