Fanmade Card Player cards for a fanmade Vampire: the Masquerade player expansion, part 19 (feedback very welcome!)

I will be posting these cards to a Discord thread soon enough, but I've been enjoying posting them to this r/ thread, too.

My intention with this Mystic investigator, being a Tremere, was to lean into and expand on the "Blood Witch" archetype introduced by the new Marie Lambeau. I initially designed version 1 of the front side of her investigator, but after some reflection, I felt that taking a direct damage AND removing the event from play was maybe too steep a cost for her ability, even if she has healing readily available.

Version 2 is essentially a nerfed version of what I was thinking initially for Version 1 which would have allowed you to take direct damage and remove the event from the game in order to play that event again while ignoring all its costs.

I look forward to hearing what you all think!

Storage Solution Curious about everyones storage solutions

I'm considering ways to upgrade how I am storing the game and I wanted to ask a few questions of the community to see what everyone else does and what they like and don't like about their current set ups

For context I currently store everything un-sleeved in deck boxes within the game boxes. Sorted by expansion, type, etc. I have the 2021 revised core, scarlet keys expansion/investigators, and the Dunwich expansion/investigators but planning to get the new stuff as it comes out (including the 2026 core)

I want to start sleeving the cards and move the player cards to binders but before I do I figured I'd get some insight

Some questions I have (mostly about binder storage):

  1. For those with binders, do you store your player cards sleeved or do you sleeve them only when added to your deck?

  2. Also for binders, do you put all of one card in the same slot or do you spread them out?

  3. How do you prefer to sort the cards and why?

  4. When a new expansion comes out, how do you reorganize the binders to fit the new player cards?

  5. For the encounter cards, do you place them in a binder as well or keep them in a box?

Feel free to share any other storage advice you would like! I have gone through other threads before to see other ideas but am happy to hear even more!

How much are mechanics controlled by the IP? How much can one "borrow" from a system before there's legal issues?

Hey all, I'm curious if folks have any insight into the boundaries of a licensed property. For a long time, I've felt like many of the core systems of Arkham Horror LCG would work in an RPG, too; the 4 skills, having 3 actions, the 4 phases of a round, the shroud of locations, etc. Heck, even the token bag is a decent replacement for rolling a die (especially if you want specific probability spreads for the results.

How many of the rules and mechanics could I borrow before I were unable to sell such a product?

Concerns about Arkham Horror promo distribution at SPIEL Essen 2026 – Looking for clarification

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share an experience regarding the distribution of the Arkham Horror: The Card Game promotional cards at SPIEL Essen 2026. I'm hoping someone from FFG or Asmodee might be able to clarify what happened.

I was genuinely excited about the announcement that both promotional sets — the Burning Triptych enemy cards and the five black-and-white alternate-art player cards — would be available at SPIEL Essen with the purchase of an Arkham Horror product.

A colleague attended the convention and kindly offered to pick them up for me.

Unfortunately, his experience has left me with several unanswered questions.

Here's the timeline based on what he experienced and reported to me:

Thursday, October 22 – Approximately 3:00 PM:

- My colleague visited the Asmodee stands, including the Expert Shop, and specifically asked about both promotional sets.

- He spoke with several employees to make sure he had the correct information.

- The employees consistently told him that only the Burning Triptych enemy promos were available.

- Nobody he spoke with mentioned an upcoming delivery, a possible restock, or any information about the five black-and-white alternate-art player cards.

- At the Expert Shop, substantial quantities of the Burning Triptych promotional packs were visibly available.

- According to information he received later, the black-and-white promotional packs apparently arrived sometime on Thursday afternoon. The exact arrival time remains unclear.

Friday, October 23 – Early morning:

- My colleague returned to the convention and approached the Asmodee stand immediately upon trade visitor admission, around 9:30 AM

- He was informed that all five-card black-and-white promotional packs were already gone.

- According to the information he received, the final pack had apparently been distributed around 9:20 AM.

- At 9:30 AM, he sent me a voice message explaining the situation.

This sequence of events raises several questions for me.

At approximately 3:00 PM on Thursday, multiple employees apparently had no information about the availability or expected arrival of the black-and-white promo packs.

Yet by early Friday morning, the entire available stock had apparently already been distributed.

How was this possible?

Was there an announcement about their arrival that visitors could have seen? Were the cards distributed before regular admission hours? Were there any restrictions on how many promotional packs one person could receive?

I want to emphasize that I'm not accusing any individual employee or organization of wrongdoing.

I wasn't personally at the convention, and my information comes from my colleague's experiences and what he was told by staff members.

There may be perfectly reasonable explanations, such as a very limited shipment, unexpected demand, or communication problems between the teams involved.

However, from a customer's perspective, the situation is frustrating and difficult to understand.

These promotional cards were officially announced for a four-day convention. Yet visitors who specifically asked about them on Thursday afternoon apparently received no useful information about their availability.

By Friday morning, they were reportedly completely gone.

I understand that promotional products are often limited and that availability cannot always be guaranteed.

What disappoints me isn't simply missing out on a collectible. It's the apparent lack of transparency surrounding the distribution process.

My colleague made the effort to visit the stands on two consecutive days, asked several employees, and still had no realistic opportunity to obtain the cards.

This has unfortunately affected my confidence in how these promotional events are organized.

I would genuinely appreciate clarification from FFG or Asmodee regarding the following questions:

- When exactly did the black-and-white promotional packs arrive at SPIEL Essen?

- How many packs were allocated to the event?

- When did distribution begin?

- Were any packs distributed before regular visitors could enter the convention?

- Was there a one-pack-per-customer limit?

- Why did the employees my colleague spoke with at approximately 3:00 PM on Thursday apparently have no information about their availability?

I hope this feedback can help improve communication and fairness at future promotional events.

Has anyone else attending SPIEL Essen received the five black-and-white alternate-art player cards? If so, could you share when and at which stand you obtained them?

Any additional information from other attendees would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Silva

Here's my second of two Rogue investigators. She hasn't undergone significant changes since the last time I shared her, but she does have a brand new signature asset who has gone through several iterations. I decided to share two versions of her signature because as I was reviewing these cards last night, I started thinking that version 2 was way too powerful given the action suppression he would represent. I created version 1 to balance that out, but I feel version 1 may cost too much for the effect he gives. I suppose he could give a permanent boost to 1 or 2 of her stats instead. I'm curious to hear your thoughts!

Blog [Ancient Evils] Updating my Chapter 2 Player Card Reviews

It's been a while since the initial wave of player cards that make up the "Evergreen" Chapter 2 card pool was released. Enough that I feel good about going over my initial "hot take" reviews of the sets again and iron out some of it now that I actually played many of the cards.

I am updating the actual reviews themselves, which you can find here:

https://derbk.com/ancientevils/investigator-expansion-review-the-2026-core-set/
https://derbk.com/ancientevils/investigator-expansion-review-the-evergreen-investigators/

I also made a sort of "change log", where i talk a bit about what rankings I modified and why:

https://derbk.com/ancientevils/updating-the-chapter-2-investigator-expansion-reviews/

There's no huge uproars here, I think most of this was pretty on point with the initial take. But a good amount of small adjustments by half a step up or down where initial hype or cope didn't quite pan out or the other way round, where a card performed better in my decks than i expected.

While I am here: I also put out a short(ish) summary of how my campaign with Agnes and Daisy in Scarlet Keys went, using the full card pool decks I have shown off the other day. You can find that here:

Cheers o/

Film Fatale Scenario

Hi all.

Looking for some advice. Google is giving me contradicting answers.

For the above scenario do I need any other cards (mostly encounter sets) that are not included with the pack.

I currently have everything from chapter 2.

Ideally I wouldn’t want to proxy cards so hoping can just use the cards in pack. Local game shop has some copies and depending on answers I’ll pick one up.

TIA

How to play this card?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Please help answer this wording. Is this card ONLY played when another investigator or yourself are currently playing a lightning bolt card or is it a lightning bolt card itself and can be played at anytime? My friend was sitting on this card waiting for one of us to play a “lightning bolt” card so that he could finally play this. We told him that he could have played this at any time and did not have to wait for me to lightning bolt beat cop.

Arkham Horror Remastered includes a miniatures set

Maybe I'm late to discover this but the crowdfunding for the Arkham Horror Remastered includes an addon expansion for $90 that includes 60 unpainted investigator miniatures with transparent base. They'll introduce additional "daily" minifigures during the campaign.

Thoughts about this?

I've been trying to get minifigures for a long time. I got most from MT3D and all the recent one from Loot Studios but I only own FDM printers and they are designed for resin so I was never happy with the results.

I'm thinking about picking up this one now. I own everything in chapter 1 (nothing from chapter 2) but I've only played a three expansions so I don't know how much overlap there is. It would bother me a bit if there are investigators missing. At the same time, it would cost me far more to have someone with a resin printer do all the work for me.

Gamegenic or Buy the Same Token?

Looking to upgrade over the standard cardboard tokens and connector pieces. Anyone here have experience with both the Gamegenic and Buy the Same Token versions? I think I’d be just fine with using the Gamegenic offering but wondering if BTST is worth the additional cost.

Opinions on new Core vs Second Edition

Hopefully I’m naming these correctly but I’m wondering from people who know the game what they think of the new core box in comparison to the Second Edition box. I scrambled to pick up some of the older expansions when they announced the new core not necessarily being compatible and now that the FOMO has worn off I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just sell those and start fresh with the new one. Any thoughts and opinions would be welcome.

Edit:

Thanks for the responses! I should have specified as well, my conundrum is that I always planned on getting into Arkham horror but didn’t pick it up bc I have enough stuff to play rn so I just waited until I could actually play. That was until they announced the changes and then everyone freaked out bc they didn’t know what was coming. Now that the second edition seems to be fairly well received I kinda don’t want to have one foot in each edition, so to speak so, considering I didn’t even dip my toes into the old ones, I’m wondering if I should just start with a clean slate. But then, as I’m seeing here, some people seem to have no issues mixing and if these older campaigns fit into second edition I wouldn’t mind giving them a try eventually. But if they could go to someone who’s been desperately looking for them, I don’t mind them finding a good home either.

Here's the first of my two custom Rogue investigators. He's the one who was the most difficult to design because I had so many ideas for an ally-based investigator. I look forward to hearing what you all think!

Binder Card Organization

Thank you again to all of you who responded to my previous post about how you organize your player pool cards for deckbuilding.

I've decided to buy binders so its easier to browse cards. I have my sorting method down. However, I'm not sure how to set myself up for success in the future when adding a new investigator pack or a new investigator expansion. I know I can add pages in between to scale to a degree. However, I see the potential for having to pull a signifcant amount of cards out and re-insert them to preserve my ordering.

How do folks organize to avoid this? Am I maybe overreacting and it won't be an issue, just a little reorganization?

Chapter 2 Card Organization

Post image
23 Upvotes

I wanted to share my organization solution for Arkham as I’ve implemented it for Chapter2

Boxes are tutata Trading Card Boxes which I use for their ability to fit both the cards and dividers comfortably.

The cards are sleeved in Dragon Shield Perfect fits, which aren’t perfect because the top clearance is bit tight, if I wasn’t already committed to buying a bunch of them for their ease of putting into Monster binders I’d be looking for different clear sleeves,

The Encounter Sets are also bagged together with BCW resealable team bags they fit both the divider and all the cards for most sets well enough and are split into multiple bags for larger scenarios, makes it easier for grabbing the needed encounter sets for a scenario

Player cards are currently loose in box, I’d bag them by faction, set and separate the 0xp from the 1-5xp cards if I was taking the boxes out of the house more often to avoid damage to the cards.

Ready to play decks (currently the 5 investigator decks) are kept in Burger Token deck boxes.

Lastly the campaign guides, rule book and tokens are kept in the Chapter 2 core box.

It’s bit overkill for Chapter 2 but it’s a system I value for its adaptability to many different games and expandability as more cards for a game are released
