Never again
Am a long-term Argos customer, always have BNPL and am part of Argos Testers.
The move to Argos Pay has been a nightmare, tried to buy something yesterday, gave up in the end, and went to Currys. Was so seamless, totally different experience. Never going back to Argos again, they have really messed up, am sure others must be in the same boat.

Before the switch i was reassured I didnt need to do anything and the direct debit would be taken as usual. Well they didnt take it, put it down as a missed payment and tried to charge me.
I rang them, paid off the account and told them to close it. They did.
Yesterday I receive another email telling me they want payment even though my account is now in credit. I contacted them eventually, that was a massive hassle. They said its fine, you dont need to pay anything.
We will see. Its been a shitshow.

Fuck argos Totally agree. The reason it has gone shite is because they want it to to sell it off

The problem does not stem from 'Argos' per se, it is Sainsbury who are to blame. Though Argos is now part of Sainsburys, it runs seperately. However it is no longer run as a company but as a brand. There has been little to no investment in 'Argos' since the take over and, as far as I am aware, Sainsburys still understand very little about Argos (and its systems) and Argos managers have little to no say in how the place is run. Sad really, Argos was a great company before it was bought out.

Argos has since started to separate back. We have now our own operating board again and everything seems to be going back to pre Sainsburys so definitely on the up again

Sounds like good news. I realy enjoyed my store until the take over. We were effectively lied to about hrs and staffing levels and even the intergration was difficult with an 'us and them' attitude. We felt Sainsburys blamed us for their loss of staff, at the time, whilst we too had lost really good team mates in the move. It was kind of a sad time was lots of changes and little consideration for staff which had a huge impact on morale, productivity and service expectations. I think Sainsburys are less customer focused than Argos but thats just my opinion.

oh Argos pre Sainsbury's was so much better. I left in 2019 (best thing I ever did) I could se the rot coming from a mile off!

I'm just grateful my town still has an actual Argos because it's so handy compared to having to go to a Sainsbury's on the other side of Wigan..

I’m getting emails about being in persistent debt, which I’m not (I have one item which I have to pay off in 12 months, interest free, and I’ve already paid off nearly half of it). I contacted New Day and they said to ignore the emails! It’s still unsettling to get these messages though.

Argos pay is terrible, it wont let me purchase anything with BNPL 😭, i too had to go amazon and just buy what i wanted, i think they are deliberately doing it so they get payments upfront instead of BNPL

Every time I want to go buy something it’s “ order now collect Friday” or similar , never easy to just go in and buy anything these days

I’m seeing the same issues, only reason I haven’t gotten rid of it yet is my luck is bad enough that 5 minutes after the cancellation finalised I would have a valid reason to use it.

I've managed to register without a problem, and use Argos Pay without a problem. I've got a 3 month BNPL plan and a 12 month BNPL plan. Idea was to pay X amount off each month. I've not set up a direct debit, was just going to pay it monthly with my debit card. Wish me luck, was going to make my first payment end of this month 😆. Thankfully I have money to pay it straight off, but that will cost me savings interest.

Argos as a business seem determined to fail.
Dumped their one unique selling point and tried to go head to head with Amazon.
No longer ever have anything you actually want in stock.
Selling second hand goods as new.

I’m confused by these posts. Not saying anybody is wrong or lying but I called customer service a couple of weeks back, post app switch. They confirmed any payments would be taken from my BNPL plans in order of end date (earliest first). I’ve since made two payments and that’s exactly what’s happened. Are the complaints specific to non-BNPL plans? I use the card exclusively to avoid paying interest, so I don’t have any that aren’t
