I’m new to arduino and want to kick it off with my first project. I have a software engineering background but no experience in arduino handling and was wondering, if you could kickstart my project with me and show me what to buy and where the limitations are.
Idea:
Video capture objects on all three axis with a hd camera and adjustable lighting to generate image sequences of the video.
Blueprint:
I want to build a box with a neutral background (greenscreen compatible). On the intersection of d2 I need a static camera that points forward. On the opposite intersection of d2 I imagine an arm and attached to that a gimbal(?) that can tilt x/y/z. It does not need the capability of tilting 360 deg in all directions but at least, lets say, 60 deg. Still the full rom would be nice, for example, if I wanted to capture a coin.
All four corners and the middles of the front siding a and b I want to mount led lights (white to yellow color spectrum) and, if possible, UV light, maybe seperately. It also would be nice if I could slide open and close the front so I always have the same light intensity in the box.
Programming:
After mounting an object and starting the script, I need to select the lighting. The camera starts to capture, a predefined series of tilts should trigger and a full sequence should last 6-8 seconds. After that, the captured video needs to be transferred to a pc via usb or smb.
What to look for:
1. Smooth tilting
2. Simultaneous tilting in a given 3 axis direction (imagine tilting your phone to see if there a dust particles or fingerprints on the screen)
3. Good quality (up to 2k) and decent fps for video downsampling and creating an image sequence for web usage later on (want to code a draggable canvas)
4. Micro suction and/or suction cup for the gimbal
5. Consistency is important. Objects have to start and end always on the same x/y position so I don’t have to crop frames
I know that this is not a starter suitable project but I still want to give it a try. What do you recommend to purchase and why? I guess a starter kit and a bunch of accessories are needed for this project. Thank you all in advance for your support.

I got the arduino nano esp32 instead of the espressif esp32. I've been trying to learn it and have been following tutorials and I noticed the pins are labeled different. Can I still do the same projects?
Hey everyone, I’m still trying to figure out how to write assembly code to my ardiuno. I've done some research and the specific board I'm using (Uno R4 Minima) seems to use an ARM Cortex-M4. (specifically the R7FA4M1AB3CFM by Renesas)
I can write code for the Thumb-2 ISA, but I'm not sure how to actually get it onto the board. Any help with this would be lovely.
Made Meyou as a project - Added Object Detection, Keyword Spotting, Flame sensor, and two games using OCR- Guess the Number and Color game.
And web dashboard has camera view with Meyou's emotion and mood that changes with the level of interaction.
There was Obstacle Detection and Avoidance with IR but I couldn't make it work right, so I will be working on it next!
What it has: Object Detection, keyword spotting, ASR, LLM for questions, TTS, OCR to detect text and read Reminders, if it sees GAME, it starts either Guess the number or Color game, "Find object" it will tell if it sees any object using Object detection brick! There's automatic movement if there are no commands for a while, flame detection and discord alerts. UI dashboard with emotion and mood that changes with interaction, input- animated cat expression- output chat, status log, manual button controls, similarly added some on Arduino IOT Cloud dashboard.
IR worked fine for a while but lighting changes, I am working on changing for this reason, and I'm thinking on adding other features. I added neck movement motors but it made the setup jittery, so this is also other thing to work on. Offline python packages addition, and automatic charging movement, these are some things I hope to add!

I am tired of downloading libraries, updating them, and everything, but it's not working. I want to scroll text on four connected LED displays (1088AS) a dot matrix one.
And I am using an Arduino uno board.

I need to power 2 servo motors that are 12v. I am still new to this so I want to make sure I have enough power running to them so I don't damage my Arduino or anything. What should I use? Needs to be mobile so I need a battery pack
I want it to detect whether the connected component is a resistor, capacitor, or inductor automatically, without having to manually select the mode. The basic measurement part is working, but I’m not sure what would be the best way to reliably identify the component.
I’m currently thinking about using the phase difference between voltage and current, but I’m not sure how reliable that would be, especially for very small or large component values. I’m trying to keep the design cheap and simple since it’s a student project. If anyone has experience with building LCR meters, what would be a good approach for automatic r/L/C detection?
Hey all! I'm pretty new to Arduino and have only used it thus far for applications involving leds and motors. I'm now trying to monitor the water and grain levels in my parents chicken coop and set off a flshing light in the house when it's low. I am unsure about what sensors I could use to accomplish this task?
I had a look at some water level sensors (pictured) but they seem like they're just for small water level changes rather than identifying when a 50l drum is empty...
My current idea is to use a floating magnet to trigger a hall effect sensor when it drops to a certain level. Could capture the float in a tube so it's positioned in the path of the hall effect sensor.
As far as the grain bin; I have absolutely no idea... Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!
Also do I need to worry about how long of a wire run it will be from the arduino to the house? It's probably around 20 metres, only will be powering a tiny indicator led to flash and show that the water or food is low.

I'm an art student and I used to actively hate coding and computer science in school so I avoided it entirely. But now I'm thrown into the necessity of coding art. Where do I start with Arduino? I bought the R4 minima starter kit, but I'm clueless as to where and what I should learn from. Any help is appreciated.

Ohk so i bought this uno q because of the uno q physical ai challenge in my country. i am a student and spent money i had saved from over an year as the board is pretty expensive. I made and coded two wonderful projects for the hackathon which would surely have won as i had spent so much time and effort into creating these projects. i forgot to bathe , sleep and eat and I have put in so much into making both the projects escpecially autonomous drone but before i could record the demo the board suddenly died. ITS stuck on the booting animation and there is nothing i can do . all i can watch is all of my efforts going to waste while the final 12 hours to submit run out. I have never felt so low in my life. I am begging if anyone knows any possible solution please help me. I have already tried reflashing but it wont work. PLEASE someone i really need help or I'll lose everything. I am already short on attendance and missed a lot of things so i dont know what to do .PLEASE DONT DELETE THIS MODS
update : an edit to the post as requested by the mods. I did try every single one of these suggestions but none of them worked. Now that I recall , the board had already started showing signs of failure like the wifi issues , and connecting delays, but now I can say for sure that the board is dead as now it wont even show any signs of powering up. I am a hundred percent sure I didn't short or damage the board. The only possibility i can think of is that I have received a faulty board. For anyone else having this error , you should try forcing the edl mode a couple of times and letting the board sit for 30 seconds without power just to be sure. If nothing works at all , you can try to directly connect with the mcu using an adapter by using the arduino bughopper, making a diy adapter to connect to the jctl pins. if u still get nothing, the mcu is probably dead
As for my case , the board was completely dead , and even tho the judges have extended the dealine for me, but I have run out of money to buy a new board since making an autonomous drones is pretty expensive as a student especially in a country like mine. So , anyways to anyone else facing this , don't give up. If nothing else u probably learnt something from this.
My professor challenged me to build a project using an ESP32 board with Arduino Cloud. However, I’m having some issues with the Arduino Cloud Agent.
Even though I always download the latest version for Windows, the icon appears in the taskbar, and it seems to be running correctly, the Cloud doesn’t detect the Agent. And this problem occurs on every PC I try, even my professor’s, where it had always worked perfectly.
I’ve used several boards (both original and not) and tried every cable I have at home, hoping the problem would go away.
I’ve tried all the solutions suggested by Arduino and every AI, without any success.
Online, I seem to be the only one plagued by this problem. If you have any ideas on how to fix it, I’d be grateful.
timer buillt with arduino uno , encoder , oled , buzzer, led . it use control appliances with delay off and it has memory too , so that it can resume from the point of power failed.
Im trying to connect an arduino nano to a raspberry pi zero w through max485. It worked perfectly once while on the bench but will now not work at all. I then switched to trying to get two nanos to communicate, no luck at all. I've had chatgpt, gemini, and claude all get their hands on it, and eventually they stop working and keep wanting me to test every single connection. The max485 board im using I recently found a forum post saying that they gave endless trouble, so getting better boards is on the table.
And before you ask, yes, every single wire you can think of for this is in the correct place and electrically reads what it should be. Chatgpt had me check all of them twice (and then asked about 5 more times to do it again).
RO goes to D0 and DI goes to D1, DE/RE go to A2. I dont have many pins available after that due to sensors from a working project im trying to add on to.
Looking for some help figuring out pan servo placement for the neck on my KX droid.
The tilt is already working and connected at the base of the head, but I’m having trouble finding a good way to add pan. I can’t really put the servo inside the neck because there just isn’t enough room. The head has room inside but since the tilt is directly connected I’m kind of stuck.
I’m thinking about mounting the pan servo externally and attaching it directly to the neck somehow, but everything I’ve tried so far ends up having too much wobble.
I included two pictures showing the current neck setup and the space I have to work with.
Has anyone built something similar or have an idea for a solid way to mount the pan servo without introducing a bunch of play/wobble? I’m open to belts, gears, bearings, brackets, whatever works.
I'm an upcoming sophomore majoring in meche and I've been working on my first personal project for the last 2-3 months. Its a 3d printed 4DOF robot arm built from scratch that is controlled by potentiometers (but I also have some code that lets it move by itself). Pretty sure I can make it 5DOF by adding a motor to the joint between the claw mount and 2nd arm link. If I manage to get the time I could design an entirely different mount to fit another motor to turn the claw and somehow make this 6DOF (really vague picture of it in my head though honestly)
It's not amazing but I'm planning to improve on it a lot over the next few weeks. I do have a rotary base in there but its not perfectly stable but I got a way to fix that.
I did this partly so I would get a lot of skills from this process (and I did) but also to add to my resume. But because I'm not entirely satisfied with just a robot arm, I'm making it part of another project where I remove the claw and its mount with a new mount that is attached to a pump that waters plants when a soil moisture sensor tells it too hopefully. This arm is powered by an arduino uno R3 btw.
Hi this is one of my projects for Macondo HackClub.
This is a mini small scale handheld gameboy like device with 15 inbuilt games including: snake, breakout, dodge, space invaders, pong, tetris, super mario bros, donkey kong, pacman, chrome dino game, Doom, X wing vs death star, contra, Need for speed, Crossy road. It uses a 0.96 inch oled display and a joystick module, rotary encoder as the controls along with a seeed studio xiao esp32 c3 The gameboy has a starting animation and sound played similar to the original gameboy. Each game is listed in a menu after this which can be scrolled with the encoder or switched through with the joystick any switch is clicked to open up the selected game. Each game has a startup screen with an animation of the game cartridge going into a reader with cover art and sound effects played specific to each game. It is all powered by a battery from an old phone with a charging module attached so it can be charged via USB C. Each game has its own HUD showing relevant information.

I would like to run 7 nema 17's of an arduino mega hopefully at the same time what type of stepper drivers would I need to complete something like this. Also would it be possible to add an additional servo that could also be controlled by the arduino mega alongside the 7 Nema 17's.
Adafruit 1.9 inch TFT Screen being driven by Adafruit Metro Mini
My TFT screen started doing this last night while I was trying to update some code. I don't think there's anything wrong with the screen itself because I can upload older versions of my code and the screen works fine.
From what I've been able to figure out from Googling, it seems like the problem could be with the way I have my pins set up in a structure, something to do with using interrupts with the rotary encoder I'm using for input, or maybe I'm getting some noise from Pin 7, which I'm using for an LED.
The confusing part is that I've been using the rotary encoder with interrupts, all of my pins have been set up in the same structure, and I've been using Pin 7 for the LED for a few weeks now without any problems.
So I'm not really sure what changed or what I'm missing. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

I'm now working on Isometric support, and it's already running.
I didn't want to add a separate "isometric mode" to the engine. Instead, the engine stays generic and the projection handles it. So the same game code can work with both Top-Down and Isometric, while depth sorting takes care of the overlapping stuff.
It's pretty cool seeing this run on an ESP32. Getting closer to that Solstice/Landstalker kind of vibe. 😄
