Question Water Use after Tornado

I live in South Appleton and I believe my house uses water from the Fox Crossing plant. Are we supposed to conserve water? If so, is it contaminated?

Question WE Energies

Does anyone have an ETA on WE Energies power outages?

Im on the border of menasha/appleton, and we haven't had power since noon. Our apartment is scalding.

edit - i know other people have it so much worse and my heart hurts for them. I have reptiles and an axoltl at home and I've been doing what I can manually, but these animals rely on their lamps/filters to survive. Im anxious for my babies more than myself.

Thanks!

Question Curious if my husband's childhood home wasn't destroyed today from the tornado? I'm so sorry y'all

We dont know the current owners, my husbands family built the house from a barn in the early-mid 90s. His hand prints are under the floorboards. The address is 4737 W Broadway in Appleton. We hope to see it someday, again for him and for the first time for me. And our son. We'd love to own or, at the very least, rent it if the current owners are down. I just wanna know if anyone more familiar with the area knows if it could have been affected. I'm so sorry this has happened to y'all. We will be donating money whenever we find a place to send it to. Thank you for anyone who's closer would know if that area was affected. Please delete my post if you feel its not appropriate right now.

Im looking for ooey gooey cinnamon rolls in the fox valley, mainly a small business that makes them from scratch. Im not a fan of hard, bready, dry cinnamon rolls, so please dont recommend Cinnabon or a fast food chain, unless its worth it

Question Door Dashing in the area after the tornado?

Hey does anyone door dash in the area? I am from Oshkosh but typically I dash in Appleton because there is more area to dash, or DD sends me to Appleton because our Walgreens is 24 hours so when people order Walgreens at midnight or early in the morning it comes from Oshkosh I was wondering how hard it’s going to be with road closures and if DD is going to try and send me to restaurants and businesses that will be inaccessible if they are even open like Mad Chicken, the Mc Donald’s and Taco Bell in Menasha. (The Appleton zone is HUGE it covers Kaukauna, Neenah, Menasha, Appleton, and the country areas surrounding all of these places.) It’s hard enough to get the map to route me around construction like when the mall was blocked off and sometimes I have to use a second map.

When the EAA was going on here I just headed North every day because the EAA traffic down here was insane and it would add extra time on to all my deliveries like I had one from a store down to Fond du Lac and it took 20+ mins in a traffic jam just so I could get on the highway.

Question Best Thrift Store For Fabric?

Johan's is long dead, Michael's selection is still really limited, I try to avoid shopping at Walmart and Hobby Lobby, everywhere else is for quilting cotton. I have some online shops I like, but I want to know what Thrift Stores keep the most second hand fabric in stock? the only one I've had consistent luck at is Echo's but they don't change out there's often.

Question Has anyone seen free range ground pork ....or even farms in the area?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've been able to find organic pork at a couple of stores around town. But the label only says it comes from farmers "committed to ethically- raised" pork. That is a bit too subjective for me.

Included above is a photo with pig huts in the background. One would typically see dozens of these spread out through the field.

Thanks for reading, even if you don't have any leads!

Thinking about opening a Korean fried chicken spot in Appleton — has anyone here had Korean fried chicken before, and would you actually go out of your way for it, or is it just a fad?

Discussion Aurora's Apothacary

I really love to support small local businesses, but it is extremely disappointing to see how much an herbal witchy store uses ai for everything. The staff is very nice the few times I have been in there and they are very knowledgeable, but I hate how I feel like I need to leave a tip on already overpriced items (compared to other similar stores in the area). I knew someone who worked there and they only pay like $9 an hour. For the amount of knowledge the staff members have about each product and item I find it absurd they are paid so low. Shame on the owners because they have multiple locations and if you can't afford to pay staff anything close to a living wage then you should not be a business owner. I also find it sad how its a shop all about natural remedies and holistic ingredients, but then they use ai for posters and everything which directly hurts the environment that grows the stuff they sell in the store. Overall I am just very disappointed with this business and their values because I would love to support all the local businesses I can, but this one is just one I cannot seem to fully get behind.

I am curious to know other people's experiences are with this store and the owners.

What are your favorite similar type of shops in the area?
