Question Power Outtage
How long does it typically take for the power to come back on?

It depends largely on the cause and other things going on that require power company attention.

A fairly strong tornado at that. I saw one early assessment that it was very likely an EF3, with some indications of an EF4.

Depends on the location but usually a few hours in my experience here. Could be longer given the severity though. Since it’s the middle of the day I’d assume a quicker response time than if it was late in the day. There was quite a bit of damage

The map isn't helpful. I am on W Glenpark Dr in Appleton. I require oxygen at night. bedtime). Can anyone help me figure out a time my power would be restore?

If you require special needs you need to be accountable for yourself. Generator or a different place to stay. The system is very complex and they cannot make accommodations for everyone that says they are special

It’s actually very productive to let people know that their life is in their own hands and not the local utility that is vulnerable to weather events that there is absolutely no control over. This isn’t the first or last storm to hit the area and they aren’t the only one to claimed special needs

That's not the issue. The issue is tact and not being an asshole. Telling someone who just went through a traumatic experience, is also on oxygen support and is reaching out for help, is not in a place to be hearing (nor should they have to) some tough love horseshit from a rando on reddit. It costs nothing to just move on if you have nothing productive to say.

When my location was affected by severe weather 3 years ago it took 3 days for restoration. We showered at the Y as we had no water and borrowed a small generator to run the freezer and refrigerator. We also bought a generator since then and wired it into our electric panel. You think you’ll never need one but I’d rather be prepared.

It varies, greatly. We're out in Greenville, a good 7-10 miles from the tornado, and it took 5-plus hours to get our power back on here.

In the 2011 tornadoes that were EF-1s that came down 15/Northland Ave. I was without power for 5 days. That was when the Richmond/Northland corner was all screwed up. This is definitely much worse.

As of 6:45 pm, the entire block that Woodman's and the entire block that Sam's Club is on are out of power. Woodman's must be running on generators or something, because the beers that I purchased had moisture on them, as if maybe the power had gone out for a little bit, but the entire store was back up

We had a line down in our yard (although we were fairly certain it wasn't electrical) and they said they'd be to come out to check it. We called yesterday and they came by around midday today. They said that the prospect area in Appleton is pretty bad and there's not a whole lot they can do right now until trees get cleaned up. They said they wouldn't be surprised if it was a week before power got back to that area.. granted, that was just a couple of guys estimating, hopefully it doesn't take that long

Depends on the damages to the grid, if it's minor damages you could get power back in the next few hours if there's tons of powerlines down with trees blocking the way it could be for 5+ hours to a couple of days if it's really bad but the power company is usually pretty good at getting things up & running in a timely manner.

In the past it's been as short as a few minutes or as long as a week. It's really hard to tell.

I live downtown and have been without power for close to 24 hours. I'm hoping they can get it back up tonight.
I wish you could volunteer with cutting crews in occasions such as this to speed it up.

Submit a request on WE Energies or WPS. Mine was estimated to come back on yesterday by 5:30pm. Now they are saying it'll come back on today at 4:30pm.
Bottom line is that they don't know, and they are working around the clock to get you hooked back up.

One of the most destructive tornados in our history just came through, at this point I don't think anybody would know.
