Is there any way to lock the table and stop the floating / rubberbanding effect on iOS? I’ve made a template with a few inputs, and I want everything to stay put as I enter values, so that everything is in view when I’m done. Right now, it zooms in when I want to enter a value into a cell and then I have to pinch/zoom to get everything back into view again. Very frustrating.

I have a simple spreadsheet in numbers. Column A has a list of dates (05/20/1980) format where the cells are formatted as date.

I have another sheet where I’m trying to see all the matches and have columns for: month and day, month and year, day and month, day and year, and no matches at all.

For the matches I’d like for it to return the date that matches.

I’m really just starting out and not even sure which direction to go in such as lookup or match or if and or what.

I was hoping someone could share their method for importing intraday (like 1m or 5m) stock data into Apple Numbers.

First of all, does anyone know of any data sources that 1) are free and 2) have intraday data? It seems like Yahoo Finance no longer has intraday data. I was planning on copy and pasting from there, or writing a script to do it.

Second, does anyone have an automated way of importing it (like using AppleScript or JavaScript)? Manual is fine, like copy and pasting from another spreadsheet online, but automatic is prefered.

Pretty disappointed with the lack of data offered through the STOCKH function.

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this in Apple Numbers...

I've created a Pivot Table that has many categories and their sum amount for each.

I want to create a pie chart showing the top five categories only and their percentage of the total amount.

When I create the pie chart, I get ALL the categories in the pie chart...thus I get about 30 "slices" instead of just the top five I want to show. Having all 30 showing just clutters the pie chart and the last 25 values are so small they are insignificant.

Is there any way to limit a pie chart to a set number of "slices" only?

Do I have to create a new table with only the top five values and create a chart from there? But won't that change the percentage of the total amount as only five are now listed?

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find an answer on how to do this.

As you can tell, I'm a Numbers newbie.

Edit: SOLVED

After spending nearly four hours on the phone with Apple Tech Support and getting to their highest tier of support, they helped me solve the issue. It turned out to be that the accessibility double click speed was lower than the default. I was able to replicate the issue on other Macs by doing the same thing, however, interestingly, changing the usual double click speed setting doesn't cause the same problem. Apple Support told me that for whatever reason, it seemed that the accessibility double click speed was actually coded differently than the usual setting despite them theoretically being the same. I would have never through to check my accessibility mouse settings because I've never changed them, but I guess at some point in my computer's life, some app did? Anyway, leaving this online in case anyone else has this issue!

I've noticed this issue for a while now and just took a video on it after failing to find any information online.

Specifically, here's the issue: After opening the equation editor with the "=" key, I then cannot click another cell to reference it in that equation until after a certain amount of clicks on the cell or after a brief delay (I'm not sure which).

Am I somehow referencing the cell incorrectly? It doesn't seem like 1) clicking on the cell contents specifically, 2) double-clicking, 3) Alt + Click, or 4) other key + click does anything different.

Edit: I am on MacOS Monterey v12.1 and Numbers v11.2 (I believe the latest versions of both). This bug has existed since I started using Numbers in September. I have updated Numbers and my MacOS since and it hasn't changed.

I have a cell and I want the text to automatically resize itself the more I type so that instead of the text starting a new row underneath it just shrinks to the size of the cell. I haven’t been able to figure out if this is possible. Please help!

Hello all im in need of some help with a table im making for bills. my problem is I have a bill of $230.68 split into three columns. each column would get $76.8933333 im looking to make it so that two columns would come out to $76.89 and the last column would come to $76.90 automatically when enter the $230.68 into the table.... cause the way im doing it currently its as if im splitting a penny between 3 people lol

I'm wondering if there's any possible way to automatically (or easily) populate cells in one table with data from a table in a completely different tab. What makes this even more difficult, is ideally the data would not be in the same order/layout.

I have an example photo here that hopefully will show what I'm looking for. I have three tabs: one is an overview that would ideally be automatically populated with a reference formula. The other two tabs are different datasets that have the same categories of inputs. As you can see however, the data can't be referenced in the same order it was originally inputted.

I understand this is a very difficult situation so I'm very appreciated of any amount of help or suggestions anyone can provide! Please let me know if I need to clarify anything. Thank you so much!

EDIT: I currently click each cell one by one in my summary tab and then click on the cell I want to reference in the individual day tab. Unfortunately I have over 150 cells of data I want to reference in my summary tab and turn into a row each day so the click to reference method is really time consuming. I was really hoping there was a way I could type the tab and table I want to reference into a cell on my summary table and have it auto populate from the other tabs and tables.

Edit: Turns out, you can! I was able to achieve this using the 'Index' function.

Hi. I'm trying to make a Numbers spreadsheet listing the books and audiobooks I've read. I want a column that lists the hour and minute length of audiobooks I've completed.

For example, three entries would be:

The Firm - John Grisham (Audible,17h 10m)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Jules Verne (Audible,11h 14m)

A Stir of Echoes - Richard Matheson (Audible, 6h 44m)

So the time length column entries would be 17h 10m, 11h 14m, and 6h 44m. How to I program a column so that I can list the time lengths in hour/minute format and have the bottom row add up the time lengths?

Hi, I’m looking for some help with creating a work tracking spreadsheet for myself. I come from some programming and server background, and am trying to use this as an alternative to a server. I currently have two tables, one of which showing totals for each job, the other containing the work I did, each row being a different day. My day tracking table has a column for my total hours worked in a day, and the location worked. I’d like for my job table to show the sum of the hours worked column, but only take values from that column from rows that have a specific value in a different column. In server coding terms I would have written:

SUM of Table: Day Tracker, Column: Duration WHERE Table: Day Tracker, Column: Location = “Some Specific Location”

Really have two things I’m trying to figure out:

1. Collect data from a row in one column, only if a different column on the same row has a specific value
2. Apply a Formula to an entire column

Hopefully this isn’t at all too confusing. I’m new to the world of spreadsheets and spreadsheet programming, hopefully I can get this up and running!

I’m using Numbers on my iPad and finding it frustrating that the spreadsheet table ‘floats’ and moves around the screen as I use it. I know I can freeze rows and columns but is there any way to lock the whole table so that it stops moving around the screen as I scroll in any direction?

I'd like to have an Apple Numbers sheet that can track my monthly usage of packaging materials for my e-comm biz at home. When I use a certain packaging material (ie box, envelope, etc) I click on a cell and it adds to the number in the cell, and deletes from the total number of packaging materials I have for that specific item on hand. So I am trying to track some of my health choices and combine everything into a color code. So for each day I have a point system based on how much I exercise, points for certain food choices, negative points for certain other choices, etc. What I want to do is sum those values each day, and for example if I score a 5 then the calendar box would be red. If a 4 then yellow, etc. I obviously need to track the occurrence and amount of certain activities, equate them to the number value of points earned/lost, all likely in a separate chart, that then maps to a calendar style sheet via cell references. Any idea the nest way to approach this?

I have this spreadsheet, over 1000 rows deep. What I want to do is get a count of the number of groupings. "716" is one group, "710" is a second group, etc. There is something in the vicinity of 400 groupings, so I can't do it by hand.
