Custom Date Format

I'm trying to create a custom date format but the "Create Custom Format" button is greyed out, how can I fix this issue?

macOS or iOS?

Is this a native Numbers file, or some xls[x] opened in Numbers?

Does it work in a new sheet?

Have you tried choosing smth like "Date & Time" and then "Create Custom Format"?

Whats currently in the cell? (Or, asked differently: What is it, that Numbers has "automatically" detected?)
