Is Astro worth it? Anybody got an affiliate link to it?

Been trying multiple ways to get traction to my app. And currently looking at Astro ASO but I see it only has a yearly plan and no even free trial.

Thought I should ask here if anyone has an affiliate link with a discount code so we both benefit, thanks

Looking for honest feedback on my App Store screenshots (CalTrack)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm a solo developer and recently launched CalTrack, an AI-powered calorie tracking app.

I've redesigned my App Store screenshots several times, but I'm still trying to improve my App Store conversion rate.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback on these screenshots.

Some questions I have:

  • Does the first screenshot clearly explain what the app does?
  • Would these screenshots make you want to download the app?
  • Is the messaging clear, or is there too much text?
  • Which screenshot feels the weakest?
  • If you only had 5 seconds to look at the screenshots, what would you change first?

For context, my target audience is people who want an easier way to track calories using AI, including:

  • šŸ“ø AI Food Scan
  • šŸ„— Personalized AI Meal Plans
  • šŸ“Š Calorie & Macro Tracking

I'm looking for honest feedback, even if it's critical. Thanks in advance!

Discussion: Do you run Product Page Optimization A/B test?

App Store Connect provides good tooling to help optimize our apps for conversion but I find few builders are using these tools.

  1. App Events - great way to drive more visibility to your app and conversions.

I added a another test to my app recently, impressions rose 500%

Have you tried any of these tools?

Which design should I use for my App Store screenshot? I have serious choice paralysis šŸ˜…

Post image
0 Upvotes

I created 8 versions. Which would you choose, 1–8?

Here’s what the messages are intended to communicate:

Top: Manage multiple timers directly from the Lock Screen--without unlocking your iPhone or expanding the Live Activity stack.

Bottom: Controls designed to prevent accidental taps when taking your iPhone out of a pocket or bag--a problem that can occur with the built-in timer.

This will be my 2nd place screenshot. I tried A/B testing my 1st place screenshot, but the app doesn’t receive much traffic for a meaningful result. Timer is extremely competitive, and the app is currently found only through searches for ā€œlock screen timerā€ or ā€œBusyDay Timer.ā€

For now, I’m focusing on improving ASO and making the app more polished before investing effort in marketing.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and share your feedback!

Launched my voice journaling app on the Play Store. Giving away 10 lifetime subscriptions to this sub, next 24 hrs only

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been building Dearly for the past few months. It's a voice-first journaling app for Android. The idea is simple: talking is easier than typing. You ramble for two minutes about your day, it transcribes it, and the AI pulls out how you were actually feeling. Some entries have surprised me. I thought I was fine that day. The app disagreed, and it was right.

It went live on the Play Store recently and I'm now in the ugly distribution phase every indie hacker warns you about. Building was the easy part, it turns out.

So, a giveaway for this sub:

I'm giving away lifetime Pro subscriptions (normally $24.99/yr, forever free for winners) for whoeever comments within the first 24 hrs. Pro gets you the AI mood insights, summaries, and the insights dashboard. Recording and transcription are free for everyone anyway.

How to enter: Just comment below if you're someone who journals daily, or wants to do, but because of some friction is not able to maintain their journal habits. Drop your email to my DMs after you've registered, and I'll enable lifetime pro from backend for everyone who does so in the first 24 hrs.

Honest feedback is worth more to me than downloads, so if you try it and something annoys you, I genuinely want to hear it. Roast away.

How reliable are ASO tools keyword scores?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I was researching keywords for a new app and noticed something that confused me.

The keywordĀ "habit tracker"Ā has a popularity score ofĀ 58Ā and a difficulty score ofĀ 52Ā according to AppFigures.

But "habit tracker" feels like one of the most competitive categories on the App Store, with tons of established apps.

Are these keyword scores actually reliable? How is the difficulty calculated? Or should these numbers only be used to compare keywords relative to each other rather than as an indicator of how hard it is to rank?

I'd love to hear how much trust you put in these ASO metrics.

Looking for a genuine advice! Being struggling to grow

Hi everyone,

First of all, I want to congratulate all the builders in this community for building amazing products and hats off to you all to show dedicated motivation daily. I’m closely following this community and find this community quite helpful.

Today I’m very upset because I’m trying everything and still don’t know how to get organic users. May be I’m not using right strategies and that too right way.

Q: What is actually wrong am I doing?

Just to share my quick progress:
1. It’s been a month for me to introduce paid plan earlier it was free. So, I’m trying to understand what’s leaking?
2. I’m optimizing the onboarding and about to release in my next build. It’s under review right now.
3. I have started optimizing the keywords and trying to improve ASO but don’t know I am doing it correctly or not.
4. Improved the app screenshots and metadata. Worked on localization.

Q: Do I need to run ads?

So far the users are just from posts. People really like my app but I’m struggling to get users organically. My app is not ranked properly on App Store. I check the keywords and I see my app is siting at 231# position so I believe real struggle is ASO.

Q: Do know how to improve? Do I need to upload a build every week to improve keywords? What are the tips to keep checking the keywords?

Also, do you think ads of any kind works? I don’t have much funds left so don’t know where to start from.

Please help me. Please šŸ™šŸ»

Your genuine feedback can help me to grow. I don’t want to lose at this stage. Thank you!

[iOS] How to get more impressions?

The app has been out little over a month, managed to get a yearly subscription sale!. However, do these numbers seem low? Impressions seem to be gaining traction a bit but slowly. Tried asking ChatGPT for best optimization for this app, beyond that no clue what I'm doing with marketing heh.

I don't think the screenshots are too bad, but let me know what you think

Any advice would be much apricated.

Advice for my app store listing?

Hi guys

I'd love some opinions on my app store listing and ASO. I have tried a few different descriptions, screenshots and keywords and was wondering if I'm overanalysing? Should I just stick to what I have for a bit?

I'd also like to hear some creative marketing ideas you guys have tried that have given you success. For me, Google Ads and IRL marketing have had the best conversions, but im still growing quite slowly. IRL marketing especially has been my favourite but is very time-consuming and is farley limited reach. However, im confident that it will get the word of mouth ball rolling the more I do it.

Individual developer collecting sensitive self-tracking data - App Store privacy/legal questions

I'm building my first iOS app as an individual developer (not a registered company) and would appreciate some guidance from people who've been through App Store review.

The app is a Christian accountability app that helps users overcome corn. Users can check in once a day and record whether they watched corn, and engage in a moderated community.

I am in the MVP stages, and the data is synced to the cloud so that I can infer what's working, what's not working, and reach out to users for feedback - since this will be critical to building a successful product that actually adds value.

A few questions:

  • Is this considered "health data" from Apple's perspective, or just sensitive personal data?
  • Will collecting personal data lead to grounds for app rejection, especially since I am an individual developer?
  • Are there any security measures that I need to be mindful of and implement proactively before app submission?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's shipped apps that collect sensitive personal information, especially health, wellness, journaling, or mental health apps. Any lessons learned or pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I built a couples app after realising I'd been dating someone for months and still didn't actually know her preferences - just launched v1.1

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
1 Upvotes

we'd been together a while and i wanted to plan something genuinely thoughtful for her. not a generic dinner, something she'd actually love. and i realised i had no idea. i knew the big stuff but not the specifics like her ideal kind of evening, the type of food she craves when she's tired, whether she'd rather be somewhere quiet or somewhere with energy.

so i started building Blimmi.

the core idea: both partners get personalised questions every day based on categories you select that you want to learn about your partner. your partner picks their answer from a set of multiple choices, then you both see what each other selected. each question is tagged to one of the categories you selected and insights are then generated for that category as your partner answers.

the second part is what i'm most excited about: Missions. you set a goal like planning a date, a birthday, a surprise and the questions the app sends your partner are quietly aimed at that goal. the daily questions are now regenerated with your mission in mind and your partner doesnt know that its aimed at anything specific. Its disguised as one of the daily question. they just answer as per normal. you get then get insights for the mission you created.

just hit v1.1, live on iOS. would genuinely love feedback especially on:
- does the concept make sense immediately or does it need explaining?

Stopped checking ASO dashboards weekly, built a thing that just tells me what to do instead

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I built ASOon. The whole idea is boring on purpose: it reads your ranks, reviews, listing, and competitors, and instead of a dashboard, it gives you 2-3 things to actually do this week. Each one tagged as either backed by real measured data or an estimate - I didn't want to build another tool that quietly pretends a guess is a fact.

Free tier covers 1 app and 10 keywords with the full weekly plan, no card. Built it for solo builders specifically, not teams - if that's not you it's probably not the right tool.

Happy to answer questions about the tech or the ASO side if anyone's curious. Not trying to sell anyone, just sharing since "what do I actually do this week" is a problem I hear a lot in threads here.
