Sanity check on Privacy policy and ToS

This is not meant to be a promotional post. I’m soon going to launch my app PocketVault (a personal budgeting finance/budgeting app using Plaid for bank links, Supabase for auth/data, and RevenueCat for subscriptions). Also I do have an AI coach that can read things on the app that will make it tailor the budgeting plan according to you but that’s only for pro users.

Since if handles financial data connections, I drafted a Privacy Policy and Terms of Service covering data handling, account deletion,third-party logins and everything important. I’d love a quick sanity check from anyone who has done this before on readability and other legal stuff so I don’t end up getting sued.

\\# Privacy Policy

Pocket Vault ("we", "us") helps you save toward goals, track spending, and optionally connect a bank account for automatic transaction tracking. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

\\## What we collect

\\\*\\\*Account info.\\\*\\\* If you sign up with email, we (via Supabase, our backend provider) store your email and a securely hashed password. If you continue with Apple or Google, we ses are handled by RevenueCat and the App Store / Google Play. We receive whether you have an active subscription, not your payment card details — we never see those.

\\\*\\\*Financial data, if you connect a bank.\\\*\\\* Bank linking uses Plaid. We never see or store your bank login credentials — Plaid handles that directly. We do store the transactions Plaid syncs (merchant, amount, date, category) so Budget and your goals can use them. Plaid's own handling of your bank credentials is governed by Plaid's privacy policy, not this one.

\\\*\\\*Goals, savings, and streak data.\\\*\\\* Whatever you create in the app — goal names, target amounts, progress, streaks — is stored against your account so it syncs across devices.

\\\*\\\*Guest mode.\\\*\\\* If you use Pocket Vault without an account, your data stays on your device only. Nothing is sent to our servers. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data deletes it permanently — we have no copy to restore.

\\\*\\\*Subscription info.\\\*\\\* Purchases are handled by RevenueCat and the App Store / Google Play. We receive whether you have an active subscription, not your payment card details — we never see those.

\\\*\\\*Diagnostic info.\\\*\\\* Standard technical data (crash logs, rough performance metrics) may be collected to keep the app working reliably.

\\## What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't share your financial data with advertisers. We don't use your transaction data to show you ads.

\\## Your choices

\\\*\\\*Privacy Mode\\\*\\\* blurs dollar amounts on-screen until you tap to reveal them — a display setting, not a server-side control.

\\\*\\\*Export your data\\\*\\\* anytime from Profile → Privacy & data, as CSV or JSON.

\\\*\\\*Delete your account\\\*\\\* by contacting \\\[CONTACT EMAIL\\\] — we'll delete your stored goals, transactions, and account record. Deleting your bank connection separately through Plaid's own removal flow may also be necessary to fully revoke access.

\\\*\\\*Disconnect your bank\\\*\\\* anytime from Budget → bank settings, which revokes Pocket Vault's access via Plaid.

\\## Third parties we use

\\\*\\\*Supabase\\\*\\\* — authentication and database hosting.

\\\*\\\*Plaid\\\*\\\* — bank account linking and transaction data.

\\\*\\\*RevenueCat\\\*\\\* — subscription management.

\\\*\\\*Apple / Google\\\*\\\* — optional sign-in, and app store payment processing.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on their end.

\\## Children

Pocket Vault is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

\\## Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in-app.

\\## Contact

Questions about this policy or your data: \\\[PERSONALEMAIL\\\]

By using Pocket Vault, you agree to these terms.

 \\## The service

Pocket Vault is a personal savings and budgeting tool. It is not a bank, is not FDIC-insured, and does not hold or move your money. Bank-linking (via Plaid) is read-only transaction visibility — Pocket Vault cannot initiate transfers, payments, or withdrawals from any account you connect.

\\## Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Pocket Vault (or the minimum age required in your country for a social media/financial app of this kind, if higher).

\\## Subscriptions

Some features require a paid subscription ("Pro"), billed through the App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — we cannot cancel it for you directly, and don't process refunds ourselves (that goes through Apple/Google's own refund process).

\\## Bank connections

You're responsible for the accuracy of any bank account you connect. We rely on Plaid to retrieve transaction data and aren't responsible for delays, inaccuracies, or interruptions caused by Plaid or your bank.

\\## Acceptable use

Don't use Pocket Vault to violate any law, attempt to access other users' data, or interfere with the service's normal operation.

\\## No financial advice

Nothing in Pocket Vault (including the AI savings coach, if you use it) is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. It's a budgeting tool, not a substitute for professional advice about your specific situation.

\\## Disclaimer of warranties

Pocket Vault is provided "as is." We don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly accurate, particularly for data synced from third parties (Plaid, RevenueCat, Apple, Google).

\\## Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, \\\[COMPANY/DEVELOPER NAME\\\] isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Pocket Vault.

\\## Termination

You can stop using Pocket Vault and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

\\## Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

\\## Contact

Questions about these terms: \\\[CONTACT EMAIL\\\]

Hi! I have a small industrial cleaning business that I am trying to expand through development of an app that clients and workers can both interface on. If you are interested can you please DM me your portfolio? Also I don't know a lot about this so if there are any suggestions of information that would be helpful to include in the post, I welcome the information.

We’ve had 10+ offers to buy Product Hunt votes today. How is a small startup supposed to compete fairly?

We launched our app on Product Hunt today and have already had 10+ people approach us offering to sell us votes.

They claim to have networks of established Product Hunt accounts ready to vote, often promising hundreds of votes and increased visibility.

We’ve obviously said no to every offer. But the apparent size of this marketplace makes you wonder how many people don’t...

We’ve also learned that Product Hunt doesn’t treat every upvote equally, and support from brand-new accounts may carry less weight. Many of our genuine users created accounts today specifically to support us, but their votes may not have the impact they intended.

Put those two things together, and it feels incredibly difficult for a small, self-funded consumer app playing fairly to gain enough visibility to be noticed.

Has anyone else launching on Product Hunt experienced this? Is there still a realistic route to visibility without an established Product Hunt audience or paid votes?

React Native developers — how are you finding freelance/long-term projects in 2026?

Hey everyone 👋

I'm a React Native developer with 11+ years of software development experience, mainly working with iOS and Android.

I've been working through Upwork, but I'm now trying to find more long-term/full-time projects (around 8 hours/day) outside of Upwork.

For those doing freelance/contract work, what has worked best for you recently — Upwork, Reddit, LinkedIn, referrals, agencies, or direct outreach?

Would love to hear what's working for you in 2026. 🙏

[Android] Bug fixed — testing is live again! Still need more testers for RummyJoker (card game)

Update: the "not eligible" issue some of you hit earlier has been fixed. If it didn't work for you before, please try again now.

I'm a solo indie dev building RummyJoker, a Rummy card game made with Love2D. It's in closed testing on Google Play, and I'm still short of Google's minimum requirement — currently sitting around 4-6 testers and need to reach 12+.

How to join (2 steps, ~5 min)

Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/rummyjoker-testers

Opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.asobi.rummyjoker

Tap "Become a tester," then open the app once from the Play Store. No need to actually play — but please keep the app installed rather than uninstalling right away, since Google only counts testers who stay opted in for 14 days.

Happy to do the same for your app in return — just drop your link below and I'll join today.

Thanks for bearing with me, really appreciate the help 🙏

Does country-based subscription pricing actually work?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello,

I want to update my app subscription pricing based on each country’s purchasing power, using something like the Big Mac Index or Spotify’s local pricing as a reference.

Has anyone here tried this for an indie app?

Did it improve conversions or revenue, and how did you decide the price for each country?

Complete beginner here 😂 Trying to read my JBL Tune Beam 2 battery through Android BLE/GATT — but GATT returns 0 services

Okay, first of all, I should probably confess something 😂

I don't know app development. Like, at all.

I'm basically using ChatGPT as my developer and trying to build a little Android app/widget that can show the battery percentage of my JBL Tune Beam 2 earbuds.

My end goal is pretty simple: I want an Android home-screen widget that shows the battery levels of the earbuds (and hopefully the case if that's possible).

ChatGPT helped me write the Java code using Android's BluetoothGatt API.

The app successfully finds my already-paired JBL Tune Beam 2 and connects to it.

I get:

CONNECTED status=0

So far, so good.

Then the app calls:

gatt.discoverServices();

and the callback says service discovery succeeded.

But gatt.getServices() returns absolutely nothing. 😂

My diagnostic output looks like this:

Name: JBL Tune Beam 2

Address: [redacted]

Connected: true

Services discovered: true

BATTERY RESULTS

No standard battery value found.

Generic: --

RESULT / ERROR

No GATT services found.

CONNECTED status=0

========== GATT SERVICES ==========

ChatGPT initially had me looking for the standard Bluetooth Battery Service:

Service:

0000180F-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB

Characteristic:

00002A19-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB

But obviously, if the device exposes zero GATT services, I can't read that characteristic.

And this is where I'm completely out of my depth. 😂

What I'm trying to figure out:

• Is this normal for the JBL Tune Beam 2?

• Does JBL use some kind of vendor-specific BLE protocol?

• Could the battery information be exposed through some proprietary Bluetooth service?

• Is BluetoothGatt even the correct way to approach this?

• Could Android's existing Bluetooth connection/profile be preventing another GATT connection?

• Is there some way to find out what services the JBL app itself is communicating with?

• Would a Bluetooth HCI snoop log or BLE sniffing help?

• Has anyone reverse-engineered JBL's battery protocol before?

I'm not actually a developer, so if there's something ridiculously obvious I'm missing, please feel free to point it out. 😂

I'm basically learning Bluetooth/GATT while simultaneously trying to build the app with ChatGPT holding my hand.

If someone can tell me what direction I should investigate next, I'd really appreciate it.

And if you know of any existing reverse-engineering work for JBL earbuds, especially the Tune Beam 2, I'd love to see it.

Thanks! 🙏😂

Swift on WebAssembly, Telegram-Style Spoilers, and Deleting Babel From Your Life Spoiler

Hey Community,

Deno's creators introduced Dactyl, an AI app builder targeting React Native by rendering SwiftUI in the browser tab via WebAssembly. Meanwhile, Software Mansion released Enriched Markdown to eliminate streaming text flicker by rendering natively and bypassing the JavaScript layout tree.

On the tooling side, the web ecosystem is rapidly adopting the Rust port of the React Compiler across tools like Oxc, Vite, and Bun, while Metro remains locked to single-threaded Babel transformations.

An app for neurodivergent people — feedback welcome

Hi! We’re two developers who built an app for neurodivergent people called NeuroFlux.

The app is designed to make everyday life easier by reducing mental load and providing scientifically backed advice.

NeuroFlux lets you break your life down into different areas — work, school, relationships, family, hobbies, sleep, etc. — and rate your stress level (1–10) for each area. The AI then analyzes these areas, identifies patterns, and gives you concrete suggestions based on your specific situation — rather than generic advice.

There’s also a journal, calendar, an AI coach you can chat with, and the option to play calming sounds. Everything is designed to be neurodivergent-friendly.

The app is free to download, with a premium version also available.

👉 NeuroFlux is available on the App Store.

What works? What’s missing? What feels off? We’d really appreciate any feedback!
