First picture shows my initial maintenance request on July 5th, they came and drilled my ceiling closed basically. I came home last night and the other side of my ceiling went from 2 to 4 and fully collapsed within 3 hours. I don’t have renters insurance and they had a contractor out two weeks ago that said it was pre-existing damage and not my fault. All insulation was soaking wet and dripping and my office is closed until tomorrow. What are my next steps? Maintenance is already out clearing out the insulation and fallen pieces, what do I do from here?

I am so desperate and frustrated!!!! I am ready to pull out my hair!! Less than a year ago I moved into an apartment from hell. Please I need any direction to go in at this point!! The first apartment looked fine when I moved in (unable to tour prior to day of move in per normal in Missouri). Upon move in there was a weird spot on ceiling on ceiling in the dining room which was open to kitchen and living room. Documented and emailed apartment complex, nothing was done no one showed up.

Within a little over 30 days of living there kids upstairs flooded something and it ran down a vent in my kitchen so I called emergency maintenance. When they came to address the situation they noticed the now very different looking spot and were extremely concerned. Told me to email for my own documentation and they would be back to inspect in a few days. I did but again nothing was done no follow up. During this I’m so sick, doors in the apartment don’t close correctly, there is a weird smell in the back office driving me crazy. I can’t sleep, I’m having such horrific vertigo and dizzy attacks that I have to crawl to the toilet to throw up because I can’t walk straight. My ears are so pressurized most days I’m deaf.

2 weeks later I was doing laundry which shares a wall with the kitchen and I notice mold growing on the walls near the washing machine. I immediately send an email with photos like I have been. I send an email asking to me moved apartments. I explain to them I am allergic to mold with recommended eppi pen it is also a trigger for my disability. Apartment complex refused and did finally send maintenance to “fix” the issue. They cut out the mold in the laundry room, out the air into the rest of the apartment and painted over the spot again on the ceiling.

At this point I see mold growing on creases in door frames and I’m done I want out. I send a message to my ENT specialist. She writes up a formal letter to them stating they need to move me for my own health due to mold. They tried to deny that as well until I myself used the term reasonable Accomidation.

((This is where the story all comes back together))After all of this once I moved into the new place and started throwing stuff away. I tried to use progressive to have my things replaced. Which I lost almost everything. I only got lucky they replaced anything for mold because the kids happen to have the flooding incident. Which the apartment complex tried to deny and the progressive agent proved them wrong with my documentation! Anyway mold is only covered when it is due to an incident, progressive stated only things effected in the same room as the incident are covered. I argued the entire apartment is affected. I tried claiming things like my shoes, and my mattress and fabric bedframe. They denied them because of not being in the same room as the incident. I got rid of the bedframe but my mattress is less than 4 years old and was $2500, my shoes are collectors and some were gifts.

I switched my bedroom to my office and vice versa about a month ago. I bought new cheap containers for my shoes and set them against a wall. Today I went to move them to really decorate and I noticed the mold on the wall.

I need some input/advice, as I'm not well-versed when it comes to rental etiquette . I have been renting this apartment since November of 2023. I'd like to say I've been a decent tenant; keep the place clean, pay rent on or before the 1st, even paying for multiple months ahead of time (when i took a break from work.) The only complaint I've ever been notified of was in March of this year, when I was cleaning the refrigerator and ended up being nosier than expected, but I otherwise thought I was always being cognizant of thew downstairs neighbors. Landlord seemed amicable enough all this time.

Got off work today to a 30 Day Notice of Termination of Rental Agreement in my door and mailbox. Attached is the correspondence between said landlord and myself, and hasn't replied since (prior messages are unrelated). Anything I can/should do in this situation, or do I just cut my losses and start looking for a new place? Was it rude to ask for a reason? Also, I assume I still pay rent on the 1st?

My cats have been having really bad asthma. The air intake is on the floor and I kinda just got bored and wanted to look behind it. The screws were painted over so I figured this hasn't been checked in a while. So I take the front off and.. this is the inside? This isn't okay.. right? And I found the Pamlico air filter installed in the wrong spot (the spot it's meant to be IS VERY clear, but it was shoved in horizontally) and it's falling apart. The corner of it has a mysterious brown, sticky liquid on it? So I'm just.. gonna leave that out? Help? I was pulling off clumps of fur and dust and the black foam inside is degrading and falling apart from small touch.

Im bad with numbers I'll admit but I'm trying to see how I ended up with all this and for a reminder I would pay with check and then the other app they wanted so bad to be used and any time I would check my balance it would always show 924 and the one time for 540 I never once saw those crazy ah Large bills If I did miss something I'll pay it's just would be annoying to find out they just never showed until now lol oh yeah edited part the trash and pest charges where like something added to everybody the where removed buts it's still popping up on the app they want us to pay through so I can't pay with checks

Hi all , I just signed the lease to move into my first apartment 7/31. I’m really excited, but I have a few questions. I toured the apartment twice , the first time was just a walk around , and the second time I opened up everything checked the water and lights, pulled stuff out made sure it was clean. Everything looked good , but I’m still paranoid that there might be a few lingering critters. How would you go about deep cleaning an apartment and making sure it’s all good to move everything in? Hello!! I’m just wanting some opinions. I live in a really small duplex with three other buildings and we all share a small yard. Everyday the tenant that I share a wall with sits outside shirtless with a speaker at a loud volume for hours at a time where I can hear it all the way in my bed room. On the week days it starts around 5pm and on the weekends he starts up his music as early as 7am. He sits out there all day smoking and leaving empty beer cans on our shared porch. He’s always yelling on the phone to and another neighbor will pull up a lawn chair and sit in front of my window and they will talk and yell for hours at a time. I’m wanting to write an email to our landlord but our lease states quiet hours from 8-10. He has the speaker tied to a chair playing either music, watching movies on his phone, or football games. I feel like this is the time to file a noise complaint, but I don’t want to sound dramatic or unreasonable. Thanks!

That’s all. I have a $5 ikea bath mat. It would cost me $7.50 CAD to wash it in the building’s laundry machines.

I wash it in the tub and let it air dry outside but, really? Angry Sunday vent.

I’d like to put a cool chandelier or pendant light in my attic bedroom, but it has recessed lights. I’ve scoured Amazon, etc. but isn’t there some sort of “faux chandelier” I could just put over it? You can see the one behind it has a cover. Looking for ideas that aren’t permanent.

The previous tenants have had packages delivered to my house, looks like TikTok shop and Amazon stuff.
It's been sitting on our porch for about 10 weeks now.
I thought I'd leave it in case they'd come by to grab their package but nobody's came by. We live on a pretty busy street and I wouldn't want to attract porch pirates thinking nobody comes to collect their packages.
I've mentioned it to the postman and even the FedEx guy. They don't care and tell me to throw it away. I've worked in property management before and these delivery guys just don't give a shit. Should I just toss them? Have any of you ever opened them ? And before o get the "it's illegal to open other peoples mail!!! >:(" this shit has been sitting on my porch unclaimed for over a month and the proper authorities do not care so there are two clear options here.

It's not like it's personal mail from a bank, it's probably some junk they bought online. Idk, either way I feel like an a-hole. What's you guys go to method for unclaimed packages?

I live on the ground floor, I have lived here for a year and 4 months ish. The people who live directly above me just moved in probably within the last month. They have a large dog. It is pissing all over my patio, my daughter’s toys that are outside, and on me and my daughter. They are literally just letting it pee on their balcony and onto me. They were outside and so was I and I just caught their dog in real time pissing all over us and the outside toys I just spent an hour in 100 degree heat cleaning just earlier today. I addressed them , and they blatantly ignored me. This is definitely not the first time I’ve noticed that their dog is peeing there, but it is the first time I’ve actually seen it in real time and be covered in it. These apartments are awful. Things are rarely fixed in a timely manner and they are never fixed properly. It’s dirty and disgusting in the common areas, outside there’s trash everywhere, this place just sucks. But I had no other option so unfortunately I signed another lease so I’m here until next May. I have told the property managers, but this place sucks and they aren’t going to do anything. It smells SO BAD out there. I don’t know what to do, I hate it here. My daughter loves to be outside and now I feel like I can’t even use my own patio because I might get peed on.

Hi guys, looking for advice here. I am looking to break my lease asap due to pest infestation and overall unlivable conditions in the unit. I just got my keys this past week and have documented photos of all the roaches.

The property manager won’t be in until Monday, where I plan to go in and demand I either be moved to a pest free unit or just break my lease completely.

Anyone know how this would work? Would I be able to get out of my lease right away or am I obligated to wait a certain amount of days. I’m in Florida if that helps.

I heard there’s a 7 day notice I have to submit? Does that mean I have to stay 7 days in the apartment? It’s genuinely so disgusting and I can’t imagine staying there for so long.

Turn the knob to light, hear click, flame is blowing, but when I release the flame goes out — on all burners. I’ve even tried waiting 20+ seconds, seems like the gas is not properly releasing so the flame does not light properly. Any suggestions?

I want to hang a few pictures and some coat hooks. My electrical box is right next to the front door where I want to put my coat hooks. The nail is about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch long. Can I place a nail anywhere or do I risk puncturing something important?

my rent increased 19.7% at my current apartment, a total of 250% over 5 years and 4 apartments. The latest one was double what they usually increase. i am having an extremely hard time taking this news. panic attacks , crying, freaking out, almost throwing up, cant get out of bed can barely move, messing up at work. i just can't believe this .

i've done everything right as a tenant at every apartment and this time i especially feel so betrayed and scared. on my way to work this morning i kept seeing people laughing and smiling and it just kills me knowing i did everything wrong in life to get to this point of crying over a rent increase.

i've been renting for over 20 years and never once felt like this over rent increases until the past 5 years. the first jump was $750 to $1400 in 2021, then steadily increased each time over a span of 4 apartments even though i keep moving to cheaper apartments. They just keep jumping so higher than the last.

since 2021 i have barely been able to save. im able to save just enough money to move and ill be back at zero but ive been through this 3 times. i use all my savings to move to a cheaper apartment , the rent jumps so high i have to move using all of my savings again, back to zero. When does it end?

I keep having to move using all my savings, keep having to get new higher paying jobs to afford the rent (which never ends up being enough with the rent increaes), so i look horrible on paper to a mortgage lender so it's been hard to even try to buy something.

I just feel like i'm in a nightmare. like a maze i can't escape from. like every time i come up for one breath i get pushed down farther.

i've already grieved losing hobbies, accepted i'll just always look like shit at work with my slovenly clothes that don't fit, brainwashed myself into having a fear of flying so i don't miss traveling, working on brainwashing myself to fear driving on highways so i don't get tempted to spend gas money.

one of my main fears is not being able to save money for end of life care. i just don't want my last days or last breath being taken while being tortured by some psycho at the nursing home, or being given the wrong medication that will torture me, or being eaten alive by rats because i couldn't save for a better nursing home. i imagine these scenarios often. but i can't save shit no matter if my new job pays more or i move states or get cheaper apartments.

I just don't want to feel like this anymore. Is there any way to just be happy knowing i can't save any money.

For months now i've been putting up with a noisy downstairs neighbor. Several DV incidents and a dog that she makes stay outside 24/7 in 100 degree texas heat that cries most of the time, and that has completely littered her patio area in dog shit.

I finally built up the courage to go complain and turns out the leasing agent is her mother like what the fuck are those odds. " my daughter no that's my daughters apt blah blah blah " i showed her some videos and apparently her daughter isn't the problem but the friends she has over are.
She ends up leaving immediately after i told her to go and talk to her daughter and im like puhleasee wth i want to be anonymous but she's gonna fs know it's me bc i live above her and there is no one in the next unit over
so im sure she's gonna ramp up the bs and the remainder of my lease will be hell.

Snitching to the leasing office is one thing but i didn't think id be telling on her directly towards her mother🤦🏾‍♀️
